Even after the vaccine, deaths are 7 times worse.

@PatriciaHolm

I believe the cheese in coffee comment came from here. see attached comment.

In which people seemed to be seriously suggesting getting the military out at the end of every street, only shopping every 3 weeks, etc....

Tbf, in what other context would you substitute your milk for cheese? Grating cheddar onto your cereal? Making a cheeseshake?
Pootle40 · 13/08/2021 18:18

Is that you PrincessNutNuts?

newnortherner111 · 13/08/2021 18:50

Yes the vaccine has greatly reduced the numbers of serious illness and deaths in relation to cases. Even more so if you were to compare with those unvaccinated, I expect.

Even with this, it still reminds us that the virus is still here, and that the government response is inadequate.

I think there’s two really important points to make here.

  1. August the 1st last year was pouring down and august the 1st this year it was sunny.
  1. August the 1st last year was pouring down and august the 1st this year it was sunny.

Now I know that is technically one important point but it’s such an important one I thought it was worth mentioning twice.

Ahh, the "Crisps on a bench brigade" thread... one of the few things that made me laugh in April 2020.

Unlike the mums of children with SNs practically being accused of murder for driving a short distance to a beach or going for a second walk for the day in an empty field. A low point in MN history.

Marguerite2000 · 13/08/2021 21:18

And lets not forget the 'make your own shoes' brigade 😂

Wasn't someone told they didn't need to buy shoes for their DC as they weren't essential and they could go around bare foot?
LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 13/08/2021 21:35

@Jourdain11

And the Easter Eggs!
I remember going into ASDA after Easter and buying a egg then thinking crap will someone judge me..then coming to my senses. No one cared. No one looked into people's shopping baskets and judged what they were buying. Such surreal times.
CordeliasPencil · 14/08/2021 08:02

OP you deserve what you get if you post something like this.

If you're genuinely trying to post something informative ; don't post it unless you fully understand the stats that you're posting. Not everyone does understand stats so well, so if you don't, don't make a tit of yourself and risk spreading dangerously misinformed information by writing the wrong thing. I know I'm not great at stats (although I did know immediately how this post was wrong), so I wouldn't start a thread using them.

Or... If you're trying to use stats to scare monger... Well that's just even worse.

Either way what you've done is dangerous, either naively dangerous, or intentionally dangerous so you do deserve what you got.

Easter eggs - one poster wrote that she'd just tested positive. The gist of the post was 'Thank God I'd already thought to pick up some eggs for the DC!' However, as an afterthought she mentioned that she was low on dog food. The thread turned into an absolute shitfest, with people accusing her of wallowing in a massive pile of chocolate and cackling while her dog starved to death.

Well it doesn't sound particularly wise to boast about spreading Covid around the supermarket.
Quartz2208 · 14/08/2021 11:36

I don’t think that was at all boasting about the supermarket!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 14/08/2021 18:11

@NannyAndJohn there was no suggestion that the poster had been spreading COVID around (certainly not knowingly, anyway). It was something like - she did a big shop and then tested positive a few days later, I can't remember exactly.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 14/08/2021 18:16

Found it!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3870244-So-fricking-glad-I-bought-Easter-eggs-a-couple-of-weeks-ago

Though I misremembered slightly - looks like there was just one poster on there being a dick.
