DH regrets having vaccine

LifesTooShortYOLO · 04/08/2021 18:27

So me and DH have both had both doses of Pfizer vaccine and I felt like I had done my research and outweighed the pros and cons and was happy with my decision.
The day after DH second dose he felt terrible he was laid in bed all day with aching, chills and what he describes as the most banging headache. I was fine 😳
The day after he was back to feeling his normal self.
Today he's come home from work and said he's had a banging headache all day just like the day after the vaccine, and in his words 'You don't know what shit they put into you do you really'
So now I'm freaking out 😂 I have health anxiety at the best of times and he is normally my reassurance and is always the one who rationalises with me about things when I'm feeling anxious. Now hearing him say that has made me question the whole Vaccine thing even though it's too late now anyway 😕😣

The amount of people 'ill' from the vaccine is infinitesimal, compared to the amount of people saved by it. Only a fool would not have it.

I'm sure the families of the young and otherwise healthy people who've died from blood clots or immune thrombocytopenia after having the vaccine would beg to differ.

If people want the vaccine that's great, but we shouldn't be trying to shut down people expressing genuine concerns or anxieties.

The people suffering adverse reactions matter too and we should let them speak without shutting them down.

Because in the VAST majority of cases, it's anti-vaxxers scaremongeing, and making up stories to try to put people off having the covid vaccine.

I've had both vaccines but there is equal amounts on here obsessed with long covid and I mean unhealthy obsessed with it

There’s always a risk with absolutely any vaccine it medication we put in our bodies
This is categorically incorrect & even a cursory Google or reading of the guidance information provided when getting a vaccine will show this.

No medication is put in your body. The mRNA vaccines develop a protein spike which stimulates an immune response

Blood clots, irregular menstrual cycles, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, debilitating and on-going cluster headaches etc shouldn't be chalked up to being just one of those things.

Some of these can be linked to the vaccine perhaps.

Not diabetes. Not hyperthyroidism. Seriously. Just think about it or do a quick Google.

And the mRNA degrades very quickly.

Yes - a few days for the mRNA (messenger RNA) and a few weeks for the protein spike.

I have no problem with people having differing views but it does get annoying when people don't check the basic facts, easily established as scientific fact, and witter on about medications & that the vaccine could result in diabetes 😑

Every medicine you take has side effects. Have you ever read the leaflets inside the box of pills the pharmacy gives you?
Get over it.
It’s a privilege to have these vaccines/medicines when other poorer countries are struggling with buying them.

OP, I'd be doing a covid test to be honest. Bad headache is a very common symptom, esp in vaccinated people.

Sorry to people suffering with side effects but is this really the best place to go into it when OP had said she suffers with health anxiety.

'You don't know what shit they put into you do you really'
That’s really very silly. We know what the ingredients of the vaccine are, none of them are harmful, the vaccine has been thoroughly tested, and if he really thinks “they” are lying about it to put “shit” into people he should stop reading conspiracy theories.

Sounds like he's going to blame every ailment on the vaccine TBH.

He's being silly IMO.

Serious side effects to vaccines are very rare but do happen.

Many have possible minor side effects.

Saying this is impossible is not helpful.

In the end I find it strange the anti vaxx thing.

I imagine most don't think twice about painkillers, antihistamines if hayfever, thrush treatment, etc.

And I doubt many would say no to heavy duty anaesthetic drugs, painkillers if needing surgery.

X-rays?
Chemo?

I think with vaccines it's because it's preventative? I'm not ill why should I?

How many who say no to covid vaccine? And maybe MMR.

Say no to polio, diphtheria, etc?

People are so quick to discount others negative side effects from the vaccine, why?

A RN has posted about the significant on -going health problems she has suffered as a result of the vaccines but that's all fine because "covid would be worse"

Not in my case it wasn't. I had a runny nose.

The vast majority of people don't get severe symptoms from covid but we're told to focus on the ones that do.

Well the majority of people don't have severe side effects from the vaccine, yet we're so quick to discount and silence the ones that do.

Blood clots, irregular menstrual cycles, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, debilitating and on-going cluster headaches etc shouldn't be chalked up to being just one of those things.

I'm not anti vax. My children are fully immunized and I took both the flu and whooping cough vaccine during pregnancy.

I certainly won't be rushing to have this one.

Those are all major symptoms of Covid!

I've not read all the replies. but I've had the Pfizer jab.
I've had both vaccines, doubly jabbed, and both times been absolutely fine.
No side effects whatsoever.

I had really nasty side effects after a typhoid vaccine years ago and quite a horrible experience with AZ, would I have them both again, absolutely. We are so privileged to live in a country that has access to life saving vaccines!

I didn't say side effects were impossible.

I said suggesting diabetes or hyperthyroidism as side effects was impossible.

Different. Biologically it's not possible.

And a tiny amount of research would tell someone that.

The current information on side effects & their prevalence is available in the booklet relating to the vaccine. No excuse for people to be uninformed.

No issues W Covid vaccines but dh had persistent headaches after the flu one last year. Never got to the cause & they went after a few weeks.
Having vaccines is never going to be without risk. Any medicine or vaccine you put into your body has side effects. It’s whether the risks outweigh the benefits - either to the individual or society.
Fwiw dh and I both had AZ and neither had anything but mild effects

That was a typo I meant vaccines OR medications. As in a vaccine can make you feel unwell and there are possible side effects just as there are with antibiotics or medicines we take for every day illnesses. My point was there is always a risk, often rare and minute. I did not mean the vaccine is a medicine.

I tiought the advice was that anyone experiencing unusually severe headaches in the four weeks post vaccine should seek medical advice. At least that's what i was told, i had AZ though. Headaches ARE a side effect, i had one for ages and was a bit worried but it was sorted with paracetamol.

It is pretty dangerous to trivialize these things.

That's not very helpful at all, if you know what health anxiety is it's not that easy to just 'get over it' but thanks for your comment 🙄
