DH has gone out for a friends birthday tonight.
He’s gone to Newcastle. It’s the first night out he’s had since our son was born 18 months ago.

I haven’t gone as I’m not ready to leave our son over night.

I have so far seen several snap chat updates from friends. They are in packed bars, dancing, hugging, singing.

Im so disappointed in him. I’ve tried to hard to avoid catching Covid and I really feel now like
DH is going to bring it home to me and our son!!

Wow!
Very rude!!!!!

fruitsaladyummyummy · 25/07/2021 00:24

Were you aware it's ladies day when he booked his night out? I wouldn't go out the night of ladies day pre covid as it's so manic. Realistically there'll be no way he would be wearing a mask in a bar/club, how would anyone hear what he was saying?

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 25/07/2021 00:24

Yes OP , you are likely to get covid at some point. But I'll eat my hat if it's from ur husbands night out. You're just as likely to catch it from the unsanitised shopping ur bringing in ur home from ur online deliveries.

The op mentioned it!

AddsVsGeorgs · 25/07/2021 00:29

Lots of people on MN have got an issue with anyone over weight

Keyboard warriors

They would not say things about peoples weight in their everyday ‘real life’

The op mentioned it. She's obese. Have you been living under a rock? It's a contributing factor to more severe Covid. I've lost a stone in the last few months with another to go because I don't want to be more at risk than I have to be.
JesusIsAnyNameFree · 25/07/2021 00:31

@Bryonyshcmyony

You are double jabbed you'll be fine. If you are obese you will be more at risk. Any reason you can't lose weight?

Dh got covid from his one night out last year. We haven't been to a pub since.

AddsVsGeorgs · 25/07/2021 00:37

@Bryonyshcmyony

No i havent been living under a rock !

Im aware of ‘the risks’

Branleuse · 25/07/2021 00:41

Youre double jabbed. I think youre being a bit unreasonable

Jenasaurus · 25/07/2021 00:46

I sort of understand your thoughts on this. My DS turned down a stag night tonight in Brighton as he was worried about his DGF and himself catching it a week before his second vaccination is due. It was made worse by the fact that half the group in the stag are anti vaxers though.

JustLoveYourselfALittle · 25/07/2021 00:50

Deary me!

People need to get back to some sort of normality.

You're very much over reacting.

Maybe post on Aibu and see if you still believe you're not?

PurpleOkapi · 25/07/2021 00:53

You can't control what other people do. But if it bothers you enough to be worth the trouble, you can control who you live with. That's a decision many families will have to make as things open up again.

Dogvmarmot · 25/07/2021 01:21

@Dandy008

Is mums net anti fat or something…? Funny how I only mentioned my BMI once yet that’s all people seem to be talking about.

It’s 36, it’s not like it’s 46!
I had a baby 18 months ago, prior to that my BMI was 29. Pretty sure I’ll be back to that or lower at some point. Don’t all worry yourselves.
It’s like the fat police are on here.

its a very high bmi and 18 months is a long time ago. Its fine if you are good with that but realistically you might feel healthy in your mid 30s but that BMI is a big risk for numerous health problems which are life restricting and life limiting. I think it is reasonable to remind you if you are worried about catching covid despite double vaccine, as people return to a normal life, that there are steps you can take to protect your health not just from covid complications. I don't think it is anti fat to point out the reality of being very overweight, like drinking heavily, smoking or excessive drug use. All known health risks. And not something to 'celebrate'. I would no more celebrate a young person being 'plus size' than I would them being an alcoholic.
@NannyAndJohn Do you make your partner do that if they go to the local shop? I’ve seen you suggest it several times when a family member has dared to leave the family home.
I don't have a vulnerable partner and an 18 month old baby, nor am I cramming myself into pubs without masks or SD.

@NannyAndJohn

I'd get him to isolate in a spare room for 10 days and take a daily test.

I recommend your husband looks after your baby next weekend and you head out to newcastle. I think you need to let your hair down.

Not true, actually. Fomite transmission is very very low.
Coyoacan · 25/07/2021 04:57

I'm not anti-fat as far as looks are concerned, but I am anti-fat as far as health is concerned. OP you mentioned that your BMI as the reason you are concerned about your DH's behaviour on his night out and I'm a bit shocked that you have lived through this pandemic where the biggest risk factors are being overweight, having diabetes and high blood pressure without making any effort to lose weight and lower your risk.

I have my own health problems and am doing everything in my power to change my diet and get back to having good health.

StardewMelons · 25/07/2021 05:12

Litrelly the ONLY people I know who have "had covid" recently are double jabbed.... But to be fair they are the same people who will get tested with no symptoms.... So yanbu. Wink

Whathefisgoingon · 25/07/2021 06:14

I’m with you, OP.
