So the PM and chancellor aren't isolating even though Javid is positive, as they are taking part in a pilot programme. Ive heard it all now.

Never thought I'd say it but

Enough is enough.

How many hundreds of thousands of kids were at home last week, not just missing education but the fun summer stuff which is part of growing up?
Tossers.

How many kids have been double vaccinated?

So what you’re actually cross about is anyone having to self isolate? Because I can’t see the general public accepting that that no one has to.

Doodlebug71 · 18/07/2021 10:23

@krystalweedon

Lots of people will just stop isolating now. They can say they are part of the pilot if anyone asks. No masks or social distancing in England from Monday. What can possibly go wrong?

Where does all this leave people who are CV and CEV? Under a very large bus.

The CV and CEV have been shafted by this govt for over a decade. People knew about that. When this pandemic started, the CV and CEV, including people with learning difficulties, were the ones who'd be refused oxygen if they contracted covid. Deemed not worth saving, apparently.

This so-called Freedom Day isn't. Never has been. It's just a day when idiots are celebrating because they think it's okay to ditch masks and distancing, because they can't be arsed any more. The same people who insist they can't be arsed refuse to accept that the CV/CEV have to be arsed. There's no choice.

I have several friends who are CV and CEV. Their anxiety levels are through the roof. They know that scores of people are going to be maskless and refusing to distance from tomorrow.

@sashagabadon - whilst business all over the country are being decimated because so many people are being 'pinged'. Operations cancelled, bins not collected, trains and buses being affected. These people are doing what the government told them to do and yet it's one rule for one ... It stinks.

@Flapjackninja

I'm part of this pilot sheme DD tested positive 15/7. I received an email from PHE the next day asking if I wanted to take part in the daily contact tracing study. My pack arrived yesterday and I'm in group 2 which is LFT everyday and if negative you have a 24 hour release from self isolation.

Unfortunately this morning's LFT is positive so back to 10 days isolation for me!

Highlights problem delta very transmissible. 11 cases on 1 class is yes does spread and some close contacts and thier siblings at our school were told to stay at home. Some postive kids passed onto their jabbed parents.
carcarbinks · 18/07/2021 10:27

People are chosen randomly to take part in this trial. It's just a happy coincidence that the PM, Chancellor and Michael Gov before that were selected. I think these guys should start doing the lottery - with their 'luck', they are bound to win.

Whenthedealgoesdown · 18/07/2021 10:27

Why are the Cabinet that can easily wfh on this scheme anyway, surely it should be people that can't wfh that are on it

Okay. Tell covid that. "Sorry, but we have a total arse for a PM, and his colleagues aren't any better. Please just bugger off so we can go back to just living our lives and complaining about other people dropping litter."

Yep. That'll work. 50000 new cases a day, and England is supposed to drop restrictions tomorrow.

Doodlebug71 · 18/07/2021 10:31

Oh, and this bollocks about a pilot scheme: "I’m being told it’s not a RCT, it’s a separate “pilot” whereby Public Health England allow favoured organisations to flout the rules to see what happens, while also doing a RCT. Scientifically highly questionable. Politically convenient. ". From Trisha Greenalgh's twitter feed.

The single biggest threat to the UK is the English government.

TheFrendo · 18/07/2021 10:32

The rules have only ever been for the little people.

3asAbird · 18/07/2021 10:32

There in lies the problem

I empathise with people's anger, disappointment and frustration.
Some will think screw it im not isolating.
However cases will rise
More will die and end up in hospital.
The NHS will be overwhelmed.
I still don't want to have mild covid this summer neither do my family.
We not cev but we will be very careful and only single jabbed 2nd next week which takes 21 days.
Wont be freedom day for us be self imposed restrictions on summer to keep us safe.

RCT = randomised control trial.

Wow!

PaulaPetunia · 18/07/2021 10:40

This must rate as one of the worst governments ever.

Streamingbannersofdawn · 18/07/2021 10:41

Well I'm annoyed as well.

Currently isolating as a contact, I run a childcare setting and I've sent a whole group of totally healthy pre school children home to isolate. My colleague and I are both double vaccinated and have received negative test results. Some of my families are on back to back isolations of healthy children as the bubbles for their older school age children burst a couple of weeks ago.

But these two are taking part in a trial...right...that's convenient.

I could break my isolation, go out, walk my dog...nobody would know I dont live near my setting but I wont because I believe in leading by example.

Agree.

And just when we really really need decent leadership.

The sentence worded “he felt groggy so did an LFT” has been removed from a certain media outlet. Thus removing the linkage that does not exist in the messaging or gov.uk guidance.

The rules are lacking in scientific common sense, yes. They aim to be a blunt tool so that everyone can follow them, all levels of intellect and understanding.

It’s all got a bit Jim from Friday Night Dinner “there’s a speshiiaallll skeeeem…”

Yes he clearly should have said 'I did a routine LFT as every responsible adult should be doing twice a week' not 'I felt groggy so took a test'.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 18/07/2021 10:44

Why anyone is still keep their dc inside for 10 days whilst the powers that be carry on regardless is beyond me!

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 18/07/2021 10:45
