So the PM and chancellor aren't isolating even though Javid is positive, as they are taking part in a pilot programme. Ive heard it all now.

Never thought I'd say it but

Enough is enough.

I applied for the pilot scheme last month, isolating as Dh was covid positive. I met the criteria, close contact, no symptoms, able to do a daily LFT, then they got back to me and said I was in the 50% that still couldn’t go out, so I had my name put in a hat basically and wasn’t one of those chosen.

I treat it as if I was on the pilot and still went out.

All these government officials seem to be picked out of the hat though, funny that isn’t it .

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 18/07/2021 09:43

Yes it is obviously not all in it together unity BUT they are apparently otherwise in charge and running the nation. Not well not still there until the next elections if there are other credible voting options.

danni0509 · 18/07/2021 09:43

@woodlands01 exactly just said the same. Always in their favour.

prh47bridge · 18/07/2021 09:44

@ssd

Yep, they were both contracted by NHS test and trace but they aren't self isolating as they are taking part in a pilot programme.
This pilot hasn't had a vast amount of publicity, but it has been running since May. Anyone contacted by Test & Trace is given the option of going on this pilot instead of self-isolating provided they meet the conditions. You can read about it at www.gov.uk/government/news/government-to-launch-40000-person-daily-contact-testing-study.

The fact this pilot hasn't had a vast amount of publicity may mean this is poor PR, but this is very definitely not "one rule for us, one rule for them".

Good cross post danni0509!

lastcall · 18/07/2021 09:46

A 'pilot program' that the wealthy, powerful and entitled get to do.

Yet again, Boris never fails to disappoint in his complete and utter incompetency. Not a good look.

No wonder everyone is refusing to isolate due to supposed 'contacts'. Hard to blame them.

ilovesooty · 18/07/2021 09:48

@Dustyboots

The Guardian says:

Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak will not isolate after being ‘pinged’.
Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak are part of a pilot scheme

How stupid do they think we all are?

A pilot scheme we’ve only just heard of ...

We haven't only just heard of it. Gove was part of it when he returned from Portugal after the CL final.
ssd · 18/07/2021 09:48

So you can ask to join the pilot scheme but the computer can say no?

Hmmmmm

Wanttocry · 18/07/2021 09:48

@BoPeeple

The (genuine) pilot scheme is being trialled by 20 organisations in the private and public sector - including Network Rail, Transport for London, Heathrow Airport, Border Control etc. Downing Street is one of them.

These are organisations that literally run our country.

Why shouldn’t the rules be different for them?

I don’t see why the rules need to be different for people who can work from home, like the PM and chancellor.
PaulaPetunia · 18/07/2021 09:48

Ever the wankers.

PaulaPetunia · 18/07/2021 09:49

At least the queen has the sense not to apply.

newnortherner111 · 18/07/2021 09:52

@PaulaPetunia the Queen has behaved immaculately and with dignity throughout the pandemic, despite having the worst Prime Minister in her reign.

I would support her dismissing the Prime Minister, as is still technically possible, not that it is going to happen.

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 18/07/2021 09:56

Did anyone expect them (MPs) to let it rip herd immunity amongst the Westminster bubble!? That experiment is for the public only as they will follow science while us will follow dates not data!

JanFebAnyMonth · 18/07/2021 09:58

@danni0509 are you saying that you took part in the scheme but didn’t do as you required to by the scheme? Just lied to the researchers who presumably contacted you throughout?

JustDanceAddict · 18/07/2021 10:00

@PurpleDaisies

How stupid do they think we all are?

A pilot scheme we’ve only just heard of ...

This is a genuine scheme. It’s whether they should choose to be involved for the greater good of the public health message that’s the bigger issue, not forgetting how three ministers were all randomly allocated to the testing rather than isolating group.

Totally agree - it’s the sentiment rather than the act - just sends out totally the wrong message.
Thewolvesarerunningagain · 18/07/2021 10:02

Absolutely flipping livid with these born to rule inbred prats. They’ve thrown a generation of children and young people under the bus to protect the wealthy and don’t even have the decency to pretend to follow the rules that offered them some protection. Utter vile scum.

Ilikeviognier · 18/07/2021 10:05

I’m raging. My 5 year old has to miss next week at school - his first year - when he’s already missed so much, as a member of the class tested positive late last week. But it’s ok for Boris and co to go about their business because of the “special scheme”.

Ilikeviognier · 18/07/2021 10:06

Sorry the comment above wasn’t clear - it’s my 5 year olds last week in reception next week, which he will have to miss….

gurglebelly · 18/07/2021 10:09

A pilot scheme we’ve only just heard of ...

Actually a pilot scheme they were talking about in the news weeks ago

PaulaPetunia · 18/07/2021 10:09

@newnortherner111 I agree.
Look at her husband's funeral. It followed all the rules I believe.

PurpleDaisies · 18/07/2021 10:12

I’m confused by the comments about the queen. Has she had to self isolate as a contact? I must have missed that.

PaulaPetunia · 18/07/2021 10:13

They (Boris and his ilk) know in their hearts that they are special though. They didn't get where they are following petty rules! I would lol except my country's in a hole and we have no leadership to speak of.

Twokitstwokats · 18/07/2021 10:15

I was offered this a couple of weeks ago when my daughter tested positive.

RhubarbTea · 18/07/2021 10:15

Feels like government staff have easier access and a skewed probability which makes me quite angry

Yep. Fucking raging is the term I'd use.

Flapjackninja · 18/07/2021 10:17

I'm part of this pilot sheme DD tested positive 15/7. I received an email from PHE the next day asking if I wanted to take part in the daily contact tracing study. My pack arrived yesterday and I'm in group 2 which is LFT everyday and if negative you have a 24 hour release from self isolation.

Unfortunately this morning's LFT is positive so back to 10 days isolation for me!

So the PM and chancellor aren't isolating even though Javid is positive, as they are taking part in a pilot programme. Ive heard it all now.
