If you have young adult children, what are they thinking about the vaccine?

Just reading that uptake among the young is flattening and so wondering what your young adults and friends are thinking about taking the vaccine? Mine are early twenties and have both had a first jab and desperate to get the second. Both will go to a walk up as soon as possible. On the whole their friends have the same attitude so I’m wondering if they are unusual given the stats?

No, two uni age here and one of 25, all of them plus all their friends got jabbed as soon as they could and are waiting for 2nd jab.
My youngest said every single one of her friends was desperate to get the vaccine, mainly to protect those around them and get some normality back.
She’s doing a science degree though, so they may not be a representative sample!

Dd signed up for hers as soon as she could. Then forgot to go. And went to a walk in centre as soon as she realised she had missed her appt.

HighHighHopes · 14/07/2021 07:52

My 17 and 16 year olds are desperate for it. Just waiting for the nod.

Bluntness100 · 14/07/2021 07:52

Mines twenty four and had her first, waiting for her second. All her friends the same or had both already, depending on age.

Cookerhood · 14/07/2021 07:54

Mine had theirs early (AZ) & all their friends were desperate to have theirs too, in the hope that life could return to normal.

Ostryga · 14/07/2021 07:59

My brother is 3rd us at at uni and everyone he knows has had their first as soon as they could.

elevenses75 · 14/07/2021 08:00

My 19 year old has had both of his, signed up by himself last one had on Sunday.

ikeepseeingit · 14/07/2021 08:01

Well I just rebooked my second jab to be earlier, as has every friend I’ve told! I’m 23 for reference.

RandomMess · 14/07/2021 08:02

My 3 have had first already, youngest one is 16 soon and I'm pretty sure she is planning on having it.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/07/2021 08:03

DD, 22, and all her friends had their first jab in their uni town as soon as they could and have their second booked. I asked her if she knew anyone who wasn't having it - she doesn't.

Alannawhorideslikeaman · 14/07/2021 08:05

By its nature it would flatten, surely? They release it to the 18-25yr olds so a big rush to get it and then it's only those turning 18 getting it when they have their birthday - same as every other she group has flattened after the initial rush. I believe take up was very good for their age group when first released. I think vaccine passports and easier travel restrictions etc will convince a lot of youth

Madhairday · 14/07/2021 08:07

My 20 year old had both early on, AZ. My 17 year old is desperate to have his. All of their friends want to have them asap.

pilingup · 14/07/2021 08:08

Mine have both had their first, as have all their friends that I know of. Didn't think twice about it.

reprehensibleme · 14/07/2021 08:09

2 eldest nephews have had first jab (early/mid twenties) and due second by end August. Youngest nephew and niece champing at the bit (nearly 17 and just turned 18).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/07/2021 08:10

dd is very keen to have her second jab.

Seesawmummadaw · 14/07/2021 08:11

One has had the first dose and one is still thinking about it. Youngest teen really wants it.

Bagelsandbrie · 14/07/2021 08:12

My 17 year old is desperate for it. All their friends have had theirs as soon as they turned 18.

WhatHaveIFound · 14/07/2021 08:13

My 16yo DS is desperate to get it. DD (19) has had her first one and is keen to bring her second dose forward. All their friends are jumping at the chance to be vaccinated.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 14/07/2021 08:14

Both mine have had their first and 2nd due next week. They are 26 and 18. The 18 year old says all his friends have had their first too now

YerAWizardHarry · 14/07/2021 08:14

I’m 28 so maybe not young young but the vast majority of my friends and family around the same age have had their first vaccine

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 14/07/2021 08:14

Next month not next week

PheasantsNest · 14/07/2021 08:15

They are both fully vaccinated. 8 of their friends currently have Covid. It's definitely the young getting it now.

2andahalfpints · 14/07/2021 08:16

I'm not sure if there is a problem, my dc (18) booked and went as soon as they got the text

ErrolTheDragon · 14/07/2021 08:19

DD isn't trying to bring forward her 2nd jab - our understanding of the data is that even for Pfizer, the longer gap is better long term. She's at home with us for the summer anyway so wont be doing much high-contact socialising.

Iamanunsafebuilding · 14/07/2021 08:21

Mine are 22 and 19, both have had their first jabs with second ones booked. My 26 year old team mate is the same. All the young people seem desperate to get vaccinated and get their lives back. My DS has just moved to NI from England and is planning on coming back for his booked second dose to make sure he gets it!
