Companies keeping mask requirement

I wondered if it was worth keeping a list of which cos are keeping masks? So that we can use/avoid depending on preference?

Eg, Ryanair are keeping them as mandatory

Good idea.

USDAW has come out saying that it's members, mainly shop workers, are unhappy about the expected change, so we might see (some) shops continuing to require them

Aimee1987 · 05/07/2021 15:33

I think my workplace will continue to require them ( a university).

Hadnt heard of Ryanair keeping them but that's good it's the airline I use most so will be good to know there keeping them.

SonnetForSpring · 05/07/2021 15:35

You are planning on avoiding companies which back using masks? What a nonsense. This country has gone mad.

TheBigTamale · 05/07/2021 15:40

I will avoid companies that do NOT use masks!

megletthesecond · 05/07/2021 15:42

Good idea. I'll be avoiding companies that don't keep masks for at least a few extra weeks.

MercyBooth · 05/07/2021 16:13

@megletthesecond So have you already been frequenting places with the masks and keeping them afloat.

Screamingcowboy99 · 05/07/2021 16:18

I think a lot of places will continue to make them compulsory TBH.

Cynical me thinks the ships must be making some money selling them all afterall.

PersonaNonGarter · 05/07/2021 16:20

I don’t want to wear a mask - but equally I don’t think I know more about someone else’s business than they do.

‘Lists’ is just a bit Stasi for me.

Geamhradh · 05/07/2021 16:21

@TheBigTamale

I will avoid companies that do NOT use masks!
Yep, me too.
megletthesecond · 05/07/2021 16:23

Mercy yes, I've been going to shops.

halcyondays · 05/07/2021 16:25

I don’t often say this, but good for Ryanair.

Suranjeep · 05/07/2021 16:25

Lets be honest here...despite the blue heart, #WearAMask, #MasksWork and FBPE types on Twitter, come 19th it'll be just like when masks were introduced, they'll for the majority disappear overnight. a large percentage of the people wear them because they have to.

I'm one of them. I dont care if people want to wear them, but they have no right to dictate whether I wear one or not.

mrsrobin · 05/07/2021 16:26

I will have a preference to those not insisting on them.

Parky04 · 05/07/2021 16:27

If masks continue to be compulsory then I will avoid those shops.

MercyBooth · 05/07/2021 16:28

but that's not the point of this thread, is it? There's lots of other threads you can have that debate on. This is to see which businesses will be keeping them so you can use or avoid, as is your preference. I'll be favouring those who keep masks as a requirement, presumably you will be the opposite. Either way, this could be a useful thread for all of us.
olivethegreat · 05/07/2021 16:37

It's just useful to know I think, I don't do well with uncertainty ! I already choose Sainsburys over Waitrose as they are less draconian in the way they run things.'I'd definitely be more likely to choose shops and days out at places that have no masks but I've no intention of 'boycotting ' anywhere . Just wondering how it's going to look as it's a massive change very quickly.

I'd wear them still on all public transport though. I'm flying soon with EasyJet and hoping they keep masks.

I also work at a university and can see us continuing to require masks if not medically exempt. Fingers crossed.

You get so many germs in the autumn term, and students from a range of countries, in a normal autumn term, we don't want freshers' covid as well as freshers' flu to take home to our families at night.

ilovesooty · 06/07/2021 23:33

I would hope and assume that all airlines would still insist on masks for the time being.

SorrySoldOut · 06/07/2021 23:39

Masks aren’t compulsory. Companies can say what they like, there’s no law to back them

And ANYONE can just say 3 little words….’I am exempt’

NannyAndJohn · 06/07/2021 23:39

That's Sainsbury's on the boycott list.

SorrySoldOut · 06/07/2021 23:40

@PineappleWilson no not ‘medically’ exempt

Just exempt

SorrySoldOut · 06/07/2021 23:41

Reading the retail trust blog, no retail outlets are keen to keep the masks.

TheVampiresWife · 06/07/2021 23:45

Sainsbury's have been brilliant with their tannoy messages reminding customers to wear a mask and SD, but to be understanding of customers and staff who cannot. Ditto Asda, Tesco, Aldi, Waitrose and Home Bargains.

It'll be interesting to see what various shops' stances are. I'd be more likely to shop somewhere masks don't remain mandatory - not because I disagree with masks (I don't), but because I feel that other customers will be less likely to be dickish to the exempt.
