Companies keeping mask requirement

I wondered if it was worth keeping a list of which cos are keeping masks? So that we can use/avoid depending on preference?

Eg, Ryanair are keeping them as mandatory

Is there an actual list forming, I have just said on another thread its beyond cruel for shops esp super markets to leave their staff to being breathed on by us all every min they are on the tills.

I do not mind at all if the cashier can loose their mask - but we need to protect them

RocheLobe · 08/07/2021 14:24

@PineappleMojito

The NHS is refusing to treat exempt people in many places. My GP won’t allow me to have a smear test if I can’t wear a mask for it. I have a legit reason in that situation to not be able to wear a mask and they don’t recognise it. I’m not the only woman this has happened to either.
This is appalling of them. The HCPs I work with have all said that they allow women to remove masks for procedures such as smears or coil insertions if they need to
KikiniBamalam · 08/07/2021 14:43

@Skinnytailedsquirrel

I will avoid companies that do not support wearing a mask. We're still in a pandemic and it's REALLY not a lot to ask (of course there are selfish idiots who will not adhere)
Adhere to what?
TheVampiresWife · 08/07/2021 14:47

who have all covers despite being 'exempt'

If you can wear a covering, you're not exempt. As per government advice. There's no list of conditions which confers exemption - it's defined, simply, as not being able to wear one.

Also there's no need to keep writing 'exempt' like that, as if it's pretend.

Sleepyblueocean · 08/07/2021 16:01

"Oh but I do. I know exactly what 'difficult' is thanks is very much, i won't list my family's medical issues (who have all covers despite being 'exempt')"

Oh well if your families can keep their masks on despite self -injuring themselves and attacking others then well done to them.

Againstmachine · 08/07/2021 18:07

@MercyBooth

That's problem a lot of these vocal mask people are hypocrites, kier starmer is the same.

Againstmachine · 08/07/2021 18:51

@MercyBooth that's the thing as long as people feel safe and comfy in their homes whilst working from home or on furlough.

A lot want this to continue, whilst some brave souls are wanting a freedom, if you want this fair enough but let rest of us live our life's.

Bazoo23 · 08/07/2021 19:02

Would be interested in a list. Would definitely choose the mask free options.

MercyBooth · 08/07/2021 19:56

@Againstmachine there was a radio phone in earlier this week discussing how masks are a class issue. And wearing one for 20 mins shopping round a supermarket is different to wearing one while working in a supermarket pushing pallets around and stacking shelves. The staff in two local supermarkets i go in cant wait for them to go.

Unsure33 · 08/07/2021 20:12

@hayley037

Companies will still be obliged as they are now to do their own H&S assesment . And it will probably vary a lot .

We can enforce the wearing of PPE Which employees may not consider important .

Masks I guess might be advisable in certain areas that may not have ventilation or people not being able to social distance .

That’s the whole point . Do your own assesment and be sensible .

And for those mentioning the football fans and saying well if they can do it so can I - quite frankly that’s ridiculous , the Scottish fans went down with covid in large numbers . If they all jumped off a bridge would you follow them ? They should have enjoyed themselves at a distance outside , but no they just behaved like a load of total idiots . Who would want to copy that?

@KikiniBamalam

They mean adhere to the advisory guidance of wearing masks in certain circumstances. It won’t always be legally enforceable but you know the common sense approach . You are on a crowded bus with no ventilation . That sort of thing . The government have said use your judgement as to whether wearing a mask may reduce risk for those around you 🙂

Plus as companies will be able to use their own judgement I would imagine the airlines and underground may still make it compulsory. They can stop you drinking on a plane so I am sure they will have the right to make you wear a mask .

PurpleHoodie · 08/07/2021 20:27

In the real world. People will do what they want to do. Others will inwardly seethe.

MrsSkylerWhite · 08/07/2021 20:28

@SonnetForSpring - I suppose it's like me avoiding Brexit supporting companies.“

See Tim Martin is calling on matey Boris to allow more liberal immigration from the EU countries. Poor chap can’t get bar staff, apparently. Well, who’d have thunk it?

F**kwit doesn’t do him justice.

PurpleHoodie · 08/07/2021 20:31

Ahhhh.
Tim. Bless his cotton socks.

Tim for example....

“Would be interested in a list. Would definitely choose the mask free options.“

Lots will say that, until they find out their favourite shops are on the list Grin

Bazoo23 · 08/07/2021 20:41

@MrsSkylerWhite

Sainsburys have already said its personal choice. If tesco doesnt I will do my food shopping at sainsbury's. If theres a mask free option I will most definitely be choosing it!

Tumbleweed101 · 08/07/2021 20:52

I can understand a requirement to wear them on an airline. People from all over the world could be traveling on any given flight and the company can't pick and choose customers based on where they originate.

I can understand a need to continue in health care settings. However I will be stopping wearing mine in domestic shops, pubs, restaurants, museums etc when they aren't legally required. Unless it seems wise to do so - at which point I will use common sense - but my area is fairly quiet. Might be different in a city.

olivethegreat · 08/07/2021 21:21

Sorry to those who don't like lists, my entire life functions from them so that's just way it is in my world.

I've decided I will be wearing masks on public transport , plus v crowded spaces (IKEA!) . But not otherwise. It's important to me to encourage others to ditch them by example as I think we are overtaken by fear and lack of perspective now - but I don't care if people really want to wear them.

I've avoided waitrose since being told to leave dd outside in a very barky way (we went to sainsburys instead) and I do actively avoid shops with overly aggressive covid policies including insane one way systems and insisting on sanitiser on entrance . I'm assuming many shops keeping masks will fit into this criteria.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 08/07/2021 21:35

I'll just go with the flow. If the place wants me to wear a mask I'll wear one. Not going to reduce the amount of places I go over wearing a mask.

Where's this list?

2boysand1princess · 08/07/2021 21:44

@TheBigTamale

I will avoid companies that do NOT use masks!
Same
Elys3 · 08/07/2021 23:37

Hopefully all the mask wearers will end up in one set of shops and all the mask refusers will use another set. Then everyone is happy, except perhaps the poor shop staff.

Sparklingbrook · 08/07/2021 23:55

I do think that retail staff are going to have a difficult time of it. Sad
