Will you continue to wear a mask?

I absolutely will NOT.

I'm counting the days until I can ditch the horrible things.

All you moaning do realise that anyone caring for you or your loved ones will be in mandatory full PPE for 12+ hours a day

I sometimes have to wear PPE at work (not a HCP). If my work expected me to wear a few scraps of cotton instead of proper PPE in a situation where the risk assessment says PPE is required I would report them. Cotton masks are not an effective means of stopping the spread of a virus and I will not be wearing one when I don't have to.

Of course.

Cases are rising exponentially, now is literally the worst time to get rid of them.

TheWatersofMarch · 25/06/2021 18:50

Yes! Love mine, no one has to see my horrid gappy teeth. It keeps my face warm. I have a collection and wash them religiously.

Elisandra · 25/06/2021 18:53

@Dontforgetyourbrolly

Nope! Scraps of cloth are actually pointless Not many people are wearing medical grade masks and changing them every 15 mins .
Jesus! Are you more qualified and experienced than medics and aerosol engineers? I’m guessing definitely not. See @trishgreenhalgh.
cervixuser · 25/06/2021 18:54

I'll wear them if I have a cold or am in a crowded place. I've loved not having colds or other viral illnesses the last few months

TeddingtonTrashbag · 25/06/2021 18:57

No - utterly pointless anyway - only there to keep people remembering there is ‘pandemic’ - luckily in our school (teacher) people have quietly ditched them - feel really sorry for those in workplaces that are pandering to the paranoid.

katienana · 25/06/2021 18:57

Fuck no I hate them

Ieatmarmite · 25/06/2021 18:59

I was having a this discussion about this with my sister yesterday and we were both in agreement that we will continue mask wearing when we are out & about. My sister already wears one all day at work anyway.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 25/06/2021 19:00

I already don't.

I had 1st jab a week ago, been feeling nauseated since (like morning sickness) and my own hot breath made me gag while in Tesco.
so it was either no mask or puke into it.
not a difficult decision.
don't have to wear it elsewhere anyway (I'm a SAHM and don't use public transport, nor do we need it on school run).

BarbarianMum · 25/06/2021 19:01

Hell yes. I wear medical grade masks and will continue to wear them in enclosed spaces tol COVID is very rare indeed. Not being able to breath is terrifying.

NothingIsWrong · 25/06/2021 19:03

Not a chance.

Thewiseoneincognito · 25/06/2021 19:04

OP I wouldn’t get your hopes up, Israel is already reversing their decision to lift their Mask mandate which they only did a few weeks ago. They have to start wearing them again from Sunday. It would be absolute madness for us to ditch them at this stage and would really undo a lot of the progress we’ve made so far.

I’ll be keeping mine on 😷

ThePhantom · 25/06/2021 19:09

Only while the government requires us to. Can't wait to get rid of them

AuntieMarys · 25/06/2021 19:11

Definitely not. And I've deleted the NHS Covid app too.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 25/06/2021 19:13

No way

OliveTree75 · 25/06/2021 19:13

@Diamondsareforever123

I agree masks are horrible but they offer protection against a potentially fatal virus. I cannot believe that some people are saying they offer no protection - they truly do. Why do surgeons wear them in operating theatres? I'll continue to wear a mask.
Surgeons mainly wear mask to avoid bacteria getting into open wounds, particularly Streptococcal infections.
TabbyStar · 25/06/2021 19:28

Nope. And anyone who can't imagine why masks might be difficult for people who aren't them sounds pretty ignorant about other people's lives.

LindaEllen · 25/06/2021 19:29

@lljkk

yes if required or requested.

Can't imagine doing it off my own back.

Maybe the new norm will be to to wear on in public when you know you have a bit of cough or snivel. I could see me doing that to fit in.

Bat. Off your own 'bat'.

It's a no from me. I'll probably keep a pack in my bag for the foreseeable in case anywhere requests them, but where they're optional it'll be a no.

Immaculatemisconception · 25/06/2021 19:30

^ this 100%

WouldBeGood · 25/06/2021 19:31

No

LivinLaVidaLoki · 25/06/2021 19:32

No. Not a chance.

WouldBeGood · 25/06/2021 19:32

Fine if you want to keep them on. But let us choose not to

Bazoo23 · 25/06/2021 19:34

I've already started reducing my mask wear anyway. Only in supermarkets and work now, and only in corridors, never my office.

I went to a theme park the other week and despite the website proclaiming differently mask wearing wasnt enforced on rides at all, only the gift shop. Felt amazing to be mask free all day.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 25/06/2021 19:35

If you don’t wear one when you are unwell with a cold or something going forward on the tube or bus or whatever then you’re a dick tbh.
