So I work in a secondary school. Today we have had all of year 9 off isolating and will be the same next week. Also only had 40 year 10 students in due to the rest isolating.

Is it looking bad again for schools, what is it like in your area/schools?
I'm from South Yorkshire, also heard of a few other local schools having year groups off!

Our school has had two whole year groups out this week after 15 positive cases last week. Most were siblings and v close contacts across the two years, but by closing both years completely they'd hoped to break the chain and it looks as if it's worked - no further positive cases this week at all.

Gloucestershire. All senior schools have more the one year bubbles burst at home.
All primary schools have more than on bubbles burst. Our numbers have doubled in one week. Worried. Very worried

SandyStarfish · 25/06/2021 15:47

Whole secondary school closed here

lexi873 · 25/06/2021 15:48

My daughter is year 8 and her end of year assessments have been moved back a week cos so many of the year group are isolating. West Midlands.

hennybeans · 25/06/2021 15:49

A high school near us has just been closed for ten days, the entire school. N. Yorkshire.

MaybeCrazy2 · 25/06/2021 15:56

Our school has NEVER had a case and never sent a year group home until 4 days ago. (So it’s got to be bad)

Baileysforchristmas · 25/06/2021 16:05

In my area in the SE all 150 schools open, my daughter’s school has no reports of a positive case. How different each area is, I hope it lasts until they break up in a couple of weeks.

Vanannabananna · 25/06/2021 16:06

SE here. Just year 9 left standing

elliejjtiny · 25/06/2021 16:10

South West here. Secondary school hasn't had a burst bubble since December. Primary school hasn't had a burst bubble since Easter.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 25/06/2021 16:13

OK so far. A local secondary school made the national news in early May as over 100 pupils tested positive (not Delta variant) the whole school closed. Cases did not spread to the wider community and it's been quiet since then.

PeskyRooks · 25/06/2021 16:19

My dd is in year 9 and the whole year got sent home today.
Ds' year 8 school trip got cancelled too was supposed to be on Monday.
This is South West.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 25/06/2021 16:20

Y10 isolating as multiple confirmed cases. New cases in Y12 now and DD (Y8) currently awaiting a PCR test result as has had a temperature for 2 days.

3asAbird · 25/06/2021 16:24

Local juniors just 1 class.

Least 46 school outbreaks Bristol and more in South glos.

lunar1 · 25/06/2021 16:27

We have two year groups out at the minute, I'm in the NW.

MayorMumbum · 25/06/2021 16:44

After months of no cases in school the whole of reception is out at DC's village primary.

Horst · 25/06/2021 16:46

Nothing in my child’s secondary. Half a year off in primary.

Missypuff30 · 25/06/2021 16:46

Lots of whole classes off in my city. Including a whole primary school that's been shut completely and changed to a mass testing centre until it opens again.

AledsiPad · 25/06/2021 16:47

Half of year 7 out for DS’ school.

My other kids and my school (work) are fine.

rosie39forever · 25/06/2021 16:48

No cases since January, Leicestershire 🤞we can make it till the end of term.

PyjamaFan · 25/06/2021 16:50

Nottinghamshire.

Local secondary has whole of year 8 off, primary has a KS2 class isolating and another teacher at home as her DC has tested positive.

Biscuitandacuppa · 25/06/2021 16:51

Year 7 & 9 have been out all this week and today we had 9 new cases in year 10. Year 8 will be all on their own next week! That is of course if there are no new cases over the weekend and as well have several year 8’s isolating awaiting test results I have my doubts that anyone will be in.

dazzlerdo · 25/06/2021 16:52

Since going back in March we've had 2 positive tests. Then this week it's just gone crazy with the tests and isolation. When will this ever end!!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 25/06/2021 16:53

South Wales here.

1/2 of year 9 off and a bus full spread across different years after a year 9 pupil tested positive.

4 teachers have had a positive PCR and more than 20 are self isolating.

Year 10 dc had 4 sub teachers out of 5 today. It’s hardly a good education that they’re getting atm. I’d rather they go back online before the need to self isolate comes along.

Oldpeoplesprinting · 25/06/2021 16:56

Neither of my kids (both secondary, 2 different schools) have ever been sent home. Thank goodness. Huge overreaction to send home hundreds of kids over a few cases when no-one is even ill 🙄

Wellbythebloodyhell · 25/06/2021 17:17

NW here, DS has never sent home whole years only close contacts which as far as I know didn't lead to any further cases. Since they returned in March so DC at all have been sent home to isolate......yet.....fingers crossed they can make it to end of term
