Just wondering if those that have refused to have the vaccine are now wishing they had?

There’s a lot of talk about vaccinated people not having to quarantine in the future making travel easier, the possibility of a vaccine passport to be able to go to events and travel.

I have several friends that have refused to have the vaccine due to conspiracy theories and ‘not knowing the risks’, if they had taken the first vaccine they would have had their 2nd by now and potentially be ok to travel in the coming weeks or attend events, there even talk of some jobs needing vaccination (care workers).

I’m just wondering if anyone regrets their choice not to vaccinate?

BTW, I am vaccinated but I’m not judging those who decided against it, just wondering if they have changed their minds?

If I’ll go to a gp and speak about my health anxiety - how you say about it - they will give me antidepressants, no thank you! It’s not a health anxiety it’s a critical thinking
@Tiari - if we all had decided to wait a couple of years to have the vaccine, what would happen?
How many times has this been asked on this thread Confused

Parker231 · 23/06/2021 08:31

Because the anti vaxxers/refusers/decliners don’t face up to the horrendous situation there would have been without the life saving vaccine. It’s alright for others to have the vaccine but not them!

Not sure about critical thinking so much as it may indeed be critical as vaccination may be the difference between being critically ill needing NHS care or not. Vaccination may indeed save lives as I am assuming why most can’t wait to be vaccinated after thinking critically about the potential risks of Covid fatalities or long post Covid syndrome to themselves or infecting others.
bumbleymummy · 23/06/2021 08:36

Actually I think you don’t get that for the majority of people this is a mild disease. Yes, there are some people who are more likely to become seriously ill - they were prioritised for vaccination by the JCVI. Most people on the thread recognise that the vaccine has been a good thing to give extra protection to those who need it but the point is that not everyone does need (or want) that extra protection.

@Funfortheroad

I regret getting the vaccine more than almost anything else in my life.

I'm in my 30s and was given the AstraZeneca early (as a carer).

I'm now half vaccinated, was given something that could have killed me (because they didn't look at the data quickly enough and blamed Brexit for Europe stopping the use of this vaccine) and have to decide whether to risk the unknown risk of whether I'll get Covid and whether I'll get through it ok (likely) or to risk the second AZ vaccine that very, very few people in my age group have had, and some have died from. Just great.

I regret getting vaccinated so much it actually makes me want to cry.

And then - after doing this to me - they say bullshit about only having to isolate if you're not double jabbed. If they bring this in I hope everyone that they've put in my position completely refuses to isolate, as I will.

Me too. I had one AZ and cried with regret as soon as it went in. Cancelled second. There are just too many unknowns at the moment.

Numbers were already coming down when the vax was introduced

That’s why we have immune systems.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 23/06/2021 08:50

@Parker231

I haven’t been sold any lie - having had both vaccinations (AZ) it will reduce the severity should I catch Covid, reduce my likelihood of needing hospital treatment and reduce the transmission to others around me.

I don’t regret my decision to be vaccinated - couldn’t wait for my turn.

This. I had my second AZ vaccine on Sunday and I'm glad I've had it for the same reasons as Parker123. I also had it as I want to be able to travel and I believe that being vaccinated will be a requirement for many countries.

Everyone has a choice to have it or not.

Life saving vaccine?? People are still getting covid and still ending up hospital and some of them have still died even though they have had both vaccines.

shewalkslikerihanna · 23/06/2021 09:47

@Aposterhasnoname

The vaccine refusers I know have become increasingly desperate to talk people out of having them. It’s getting a bit lonely out on that limb I think.
Maybe they are worried that their friends and relatives could end up seriously ill or worse. My friend seriously regrets getting hers and that her mother has done also. Her mother’s previous conditions have really been aggravated
shewalkslikerihanna · 23/06/2021 09:55

@Dimsummummy

No regrets here, over 120 deaths already attributed to vaccines and I’ve already survived covid. Thanks for asking though 😃
I think the figure is over 1300 and nearly a million serious side effects.
Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 23/06/2021 09:55

I would hope that by 2023 all the vaccines would be going to COVAX and developing countries. All our large vaccination hubs should be long gone so how you'd get the vaccine I have no idea. Unless you can just have the new potential booster. But then that's untested so you probably wouldn't want it.

Anyway, I would guess that some people would secretly get vaccinated but lie to others saying that they hadn't just to save face.

PawsQueen · 23/06/2021 09:59

@shewalkslikerihanna some of us don't though. That's why I had the vaccine. Whether it will protect me is another thing but having it was the better option

Her mother’s previous conditions have really been aggravated

Maybe they should let their friends and family make their own decisions. If anyone had tried to talk me out of it I would have politely told them to mind their own business.
@TheDailyCarbunkle I’m well aware of what you have stated, everyone knows there could be the possibility of delayed side effects. Yet I’m prepared to take that risk. Much as when I drink wine, shove any substance in my body, or take any medication (my Dad took a ‘new’ type of heart medication) I take a risk. Who knows what new studies will show in 20 years time?

If we all took your stance - where would we be now? Is it fair that you are relying on the rest of us ‘sheep’ to do it?
Good grief!
What blinkered thinking!
We already have an excellent system.
Our immune systems.
I’m not relying on anyone to look after me, sheep, cows, pigs ..you name it.
I keep my immune system healthy
As we all should and if we don’t know how to do that
Then these lessons should be taught in school.
If they ever run as normal that is.

Roonerspismed · 23/06/2021 10:09

Breakthrough of the Pfizer vaccine in Israel is a third.

I just want covid and then I will use that plus my immune system to guard me. It’s generally served me well.

If I didn’t trust my immune system I would have the vaccine TBH as the risks would worry less less. I just assumed this was how the whole thing would proceed. I didn’t think the likes of the US would vaccinate young teens and keep going whilst they died of myocarditis. Even one or two is too many - these are young people for whom covid is a sniffle

I hope heads will roll in years to come and we will learn more lessons.

shewalkslikerihanna · 23/06/2021 10:13

@Parker231

The numbers of people reporting side effects is still tiny compared to the millions of vaccinations given and lives saved. I’m doing vaccinations on Sunday and have been told that every available appointment has been booked.
Yes they are tiny if you happen to be one of the lucky ones for whom there were no symptoms but massive if you had your wife die in your arms on the night of her injection.

Happy jabbing Parker but just who is helping the people for whom the bell tolls because from where I’m sitting a lot of them are left to god and providence.

Poor Jacob clynick and his devastated family. Just 14 years old. Heartbreaking

Poorlykitten · 23/06/2021 10:28

And just for the record it is not yet known if Jacob died as a direct result of the vaccine.So far it’s all speculation and of course will need further investigation. Myocarditis is also a symptom of Covid19. All vaccines carry risks. All of them, some of the side effects of yellow fever are horrendous. Many can result in very unpleasant side effects. These are usually extremely rare.

Poorlykitten · 23/06/2021 10:29
