Just wondering if those that have refused to have the vaccine are now wishing they had?

There’s a lot of talk about vaccinated people not having to quarantine in the future making travel easier, the possibility of a vaccine passport to be able to go to events and travel.

I have several friends that have refused to have the vaccine due to conspiracy theories and ‘not knowing the risks’, if they had taken the first vaccine they would have had their 2nd by now and potentially be ok to travel in the coming weeks or attend events, there even talk of some jobs needing vaccination (care workers).

I’m just wondering if anyone regrets their choice not to vaccinate?

BTW, I am vaccinated but I’m not judging those who decided against it, just wondering if they have changed their minds?

I thought it was the other way

Some friends of my parents fell over themselves to get the two vaccines in time for summer holidays

But they still have to pay for PCR tests before they get to their airport, then again at the destination where they stay in their hotel room for 24 hours while awaiting the result!

@Hornbill123456789

I’ve only met one person in real life who has refused the vaccine (her reasoning being that she’d already had Covid). It’s only here on social media that I’ve seen the vaccine hesitant, or those who refuse to have it. I do have sympathy for those with medical reasons who decline, so long as they take care around others. I don’t have sympathy for those who refuse, show little regard for others and place their personal freedom way above the needs of the rest of society. It also frustrates me that they then spread harmful misinformation to justify their stance.
Same here
HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 22/06/2021 12:35

Do you realise the power you are giving to the government, willingly?

^this ..... Reminds me of last year when people were calling for the Army on the streets, to stop people leaving their houses ffs.

Parker231 · 22/06/2021 12:43

I’ve been vaccinated as has everyone I know. I’ll be 100% happy for vaccine passports to be introduced (with exemptions for those who medically can’t have the vaccine) - makes travel safer.

Tiari · 22/06/2021 12:47

No regrets here. I'm waiting until the vaccine trials end in 2023.
Same as some other posters, I will continue wearing a mask, not travel abroad etc.
Franklin12 why do we need to stay away from you? You're vaccinated so relatively safe, aren't you? If not, what was the point in getting vaccinated?

Parker231 · 22/06/2021 12:49

@Tiari - what do you think would have happened to the number of cases, deaths and lockdown restrictions if we’d all decided to wait until 2023?

Very good point we can already see how the unvaccinated are being targeted by the virus
Fortunately they are in the minority or things would look very different now

TheDailyCarbunkle · 22/06/2021 13:00

No regrets. I can always get the vaccine, but you can't turn back time and erase the fact that you've had one. Having a vaccine is an all or nothing decision. If in the next few years it comes out that there are serious delayed side effects to one (or all) of the vaccines every vaccinated person will have to play the waiting game wondering if they will be one of the ones to suffer.

TBH I'm shocked that people are willing to be injected with a substance that has killed people. Australia have now said that no one under 60 should have the AZ vaccine due to blood clotting issues. Here it's no one under 40. Essentially the age cut off is pretty arbitrary and anyone could find themselves severely ill after it. It's a small risk but it's a risk nonetheless.

As for Pfizer, that's a completely experimental vaccine, so anyone who thinks there is plenty of safety data is wrong - essentially they have no idea whatsoever if it will cause delayed side effects. What if there is a very high incidence of auto immune disorders in vaccine recipients? It has already been shown to cause higher than normal levels of myocarditis and pericarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle and heart sac) in younger people.

The 'anti-vax' label is a convenient one that allows the government to dismiss legitimate concerns and questions around safety. I'm surprised so many people fall for it tbh. I thought people were more wary but clearly not.

Dimsummummy · 22/06/2021 13:02

No regrets here, over 120 deaths already attributed to vaccines and I’ve already survived covid. Thanks for asking though 😃

ZoBo123 · 22/06/2021 13:08

I think there will be more people who have had the jab on the promise of freedom that will now be regretting their decision. There is no personal benefit to anyone under 40 who is not vulnerable and no plans for that to change

TheDailyCarbunkle · 22/06/2021 13:11

I'll also add that I think it's unbelievable that people are essentially being coerced into being injected with the threat that if they don't they'll be prevented from travelling and going to events. What happened to free and informed consent??

Tiari · 22/06/2021 13:14

Good post TheDailyCarbunkle Brew

Funfortheroad · 22/06/2021 13:15

I regret getting the vaccine more than almost anything else in my life.

I'm in my 30s and was given the AstraZeneca early (as a carer).

I'm now half vaccinated, was given something that could have killed me (because they didn't look at the data quickly enough and blamed Brexit for Europe stopping the use of this vaccine) and have to decide whether to risk the unknown risk of whether I'll get Covid and whether I'll get through it ok (likely) or to risk the second AZ vaccine that very, very few people in my age group have had, and some have died from. Just great.

I regret getting vaccinated so much it actually makes me want to cry.

And then - after doing this to me - they say bullshit about only having to isolate if you're not double jabbed. If they bring this in I hope everyone that they've put in my position completely refuses to isolate, as I will.

whistleflower · 22/06/2021 13:25

TheDailyCarbunkle great post

Morana23 · 22/06/2021 13:25

I have only just been offered the vaccine this week (due to age), have been of the mindset that I didn't really want to get it for a while - not because I'm an 'anti-vaxxer', I've had all my vaccinations up to date and so have my children. I am young and in most ways very fit and healthy, I felt nervous to have the vaccine but had come round to thinking that I will have it when offered. However, the news about many women experiencing heavy periods/other menstrual changes has led me to feel reluctant again, I have suffered for over 10 years with hideously heavy/painful periods which significantly impact my life and am finally heading towards a diagnosis of endometriosis, I have decided to wait a little longer to hopefully understand this potential side effect of the vaccine and reassess the risk/benefit balance for me. So I am glad that I haven't had it yet, but am still open to having it following further investigation into this issue.

Tiari · 22/06/2021 13:26

So sorry to hear that @Funfortheroad Sad
Was it simply the fact that you are a carer that you had the jab?

bumbleymummy · 22/06/2021 13:29

No. I’m not going to be coerced into something that I don’t need.

Everyone should still have to be tested anyway. Vaccines don’t guarantee immunity. An unvaccinated person may be immune after infection and a vaccinated person may still be able to contract and spread the virus.

CoffeeWithCheese · 22/06/2021 13:34

I regret being vaccinated and lending an aura of tacit consent to the monstrous destruction of our bodily autonomy and liberties that it has turned into since then. I was vaccinated near the start of it all - as a healthcare worker and since then the hostility, the attempts at coercion, the bullying, the lies about no passports/passports in all but name and the emerging risks have absolutely sickened me.

Hornbill123456789 · 22/06/2021 13:36

@TheDailyCarbunkle I’m well aware of what you have stated, everyone knows there could be the possibility of delayed side effects. Yet I’m prepared to take that risk. Much as when I drink wine, shove any substance in my body, or take any medication (my Dad took a ‘new’ type of heart medication) I take a risk. Who knows what new studies will show in 20 years time?

If we all took your stance - where would we be now? Is it fair that you are relying on the rest of us ‘sheep’ to do it?

We’re not relying on you for anything. I’m not afraid of contracting COVID because the risk to me is very low - much lower than risks I take on a daily basis that I don’t even think about.

36 years old and no vaccine… me and my BIG family will not be having a single jab, we saw our heathly gran have the Pfizer then within a matter of weeks had 2 heartattacks
I will never regret not having it as like the other person said you can always get it you haven’t lost your chance forever but if I had, had it I would be regretting it as now… carnt take it back once you get it but can get it anytime if that makes sense

shazzz1xx · 22/06/2021 13:40

also I love Spain but if it means never going again then so be it

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/06/2021 13:40

they can still have it in the future if they change their minds.

my mum had her double dose by April but still can't fly to UK.
vaccines don't guarantee travel🤷‍♀️
