I'm entitled to believe what I like. I'm not saying it's a fact. I don't trust that the reporting on this is thorough or accurate. I don't believe we're being given all the information we need to make up our own minds. I believe there has been a decision to suppress the true statistics of side effects in order to enable confidence in the vaccine, as that is the government's trump card to get us out of the vaccine. Anyone who trusts this government based on their past performance is not someone whose opinion I particularly value, to be perfectly honest. In the under 50s, deaths from covid are incredibly rare. So I don't see your point. There's no either/or choice here.

Much as I seldom trust the government on many things, believing something that you can't say is a fact is really ludicrous. How can anyone value the opinion of someone who states that their belief in something does not require facts? Yes, deaths from Covid in under 50's are rare. Deaths from the vaccine - if they are deaths from the vaccine because the link is still not totally proven - are rarer. But yes, it's fine - it's mostly older people and vulnerable younger people who are at risk so if you aren't one of those, then you don't need to give a fuck about the rest of the people around you, do you? Hopefully, if you are one of the unlucky under 50's who get Covid though, someone will give a fuck about you. Because that is the either/or choice here. If we do not get the virus under control, people of all ages will become seriously ill or die. And many of them will be under 50.

Livelovebehappy · 27/05/2021 23:03

I’ve had a Covid. I wasn't hospitalised but I was ill, and have not been able to taste or smell anything for 7 months, which has recently turned into distorted smell/taste - I can’t tell you how debilitating and mentally draining that is. I am often exhausted physically and mentally. There’s a lot of people like me. So just because you survive covid, it doesn’t mean life goes as normal for many of us. The scarey thing is I don’t know if I’m ever going to recover from the side effects. So those of you who think you’re safe from dying of covid, just be aware that the virus can still make your life miserable.

MarshaBradyo · 27/05/2021 23:04

Enid if you did a shift in ICU what would you expect? Particularly at height of peaks

Guavafish · 27/05/2021 23:06

It normal takes 10 years to produce a vaccine and test it’s safety profile on patient to work out the side effects.

Due to the circumstances it has been produced in less than a year and so side effects will be encountered everyone

I think you might need to go away and think about that statement...

Why are you asking me this question? I don't see what it has to do with anything I've said on this thread.
daytimeknitter · 27/05/2021 23:08

@RedcurrantPuff My DP had 8 weeks off work with Reactive Arthritis after his first AZ and the last 3 weeks were accompanied by Gout. He saw 2 consultants and a GP. Everyone of them said this was an adverse reaction to his AZ vaccination.

Incidentally Cherry Juice is very helpful. Drink lots!

StressMagnet · 27/05/2021 23:09

I was hospitalised with a headache and bells palsey after my first vaccine. I had the second dose but I was extremely nervous and am counting down the days until I am two weeks post vaccine.

I'm double vaxxed and had covid. I wont to crushing anyone in the stampede for a different brand booster within 12 months of this second dose.

I'm not anti vax. I am a biology grad. I'm sure as I can be it's safe enough but it's no consolation to the 1 in a million or whatever who actually get the clots and die or their loved ones.

I dont get my flu shot every single year either as personally I think my risks of getting the new strain and being seriously ill is low.

It be interesting who the August boosters are offered to

MarshaBradyo · 27/05/2021 23:09

Why not. It’s not going to be full if people with a cold is it.

You seem very skewed in your thinking.

MarshaBradyo · 27/05/2021 23:10

To Enid

Tealightsandd · 27/05/2021 23:10

It's very sad and I'm so sorry for her family.

It's entirely possible she caught Covid just before or during the vaccine appointment. I don't know if she was tested for it but even if she was, tests aren't completely accurate and false negatives aren't that unusual (PCR as well as LFT).

EnidSpyton · 27/05/2021 23:10

@MarshaBradyo

I really cannot understand what on earth you're talking about.

Are you suggesting I don't believe in coronavirus? I haven't said anything of the sort, anywhere.

TheOnlyWayisher · 27/05/2021 23:11

How many people in England under 40 or 50 have died of covid? Genuine question not trying to make any sort of point.

stressfuljune · 27/05/2021 23:12

Covid causes blood clots. A lot of Covid deaths are blood clots to brains and other organs. That's what kills many people. I work in the field.
It thickens blood until if clots

MarshaBradyo · 27/05/2021 23:13

Enod Your posts full of anecdata are fairly redundant then aren’t they.

They are so far from reality what use are they.

Obviously the vaccine is not worse than Covid, it’s ridiculous really

@Livelovebehappy

I'm so sorry. Long Covid continues to be downplayed or denied or overlooked by too many.

I hope things start to get better for you. Have you been referred to a specialist Long Covid clinic?

RedcurrantPuff · 27/05/2021 23:14

Really interesting, I hope you OH is better now.

I have been reading and apparently gout can be a side effect of vaccines generally, not just AZ. I can tell you it will be a considered decision before I get another vaccine of any kind after suffering from that, the pain was beyond horrific.

Tealightsandd · 27/05/2021 23:15

This.

Covid is 8 to 10 times more likely to cause blood clots than a rare vaccine side effect.

stressfuljune · 27/05/2021 23:23

There is a huge misunderstanding around Covid deaths. Covid caused the body to do odd things. Oxygen levels plummet. Blood thickens & clots. A lot of Covid deaths are given as blood clots to brain etc. Organs fail. Covid is a virus that kills via its various effects

ICanSmellSummerComing · 27/05/2021 23:25

I have don't know what to do, I've had two people (non covid related) suddenly die on me so I don't buy the "" it won't happen to me, it already has *.

I am sure I had covid last march, lost my sense of smell and taste, became extremely tired But that was it... I've had my first jab and second is booked for next week.

I can't deny I'm scared.

My children' don't have a family network around them. They really would be alone without me and dh couldn't handle it, not gp or aunts etc.

I work on a public facing job though, I just don't know what to do. I've really don't.

MercyBooth · 27/05/2021 23:26

It's not so much the vaccine, it's the chronic lack of access to medical care following it that is the problem

THIS!!!!!!!!!!!

This is definitely a huge concern for Long Covid. Too many patients already are reporting having their symptoms dismissed. I hope things will get better for them as time goes on and more specialist clinics are fully up and running.
Dustyboots · 27/05/2021 23:42

Also the "you're on your own"/"we don't give a shit" and "you're making it up" attitude that's the problem too.

Twoforthree · 27/05/2021 23:54

There is a risk with the vaccine or there is a risk of long COVID or death. Either choice has risk. To me it’s a no brainier. I know several people in their forties, suffering long COVID.

I also know of a woman in her forties who died of a blood clot - but it was when she actually had COVID. Not unusual apparently.

MercyBooth · 27/05/2021 23:54

In a civilised society, we all have a degree of responsibility to each other

Cool. Means my local council will be cool with paying for a hotel room for me so i can use the shower as i have struggled getting in and out of the bath due to tripping on their dangerous paving a week ago, which they have neglected for years and badly injuring my leg. Due to straining to get out of the bath without putting too much pressure on my leg, i sprained my shoulder last Sunday night. Whats that you say? Whats that got to do with this thread? Oh yes thats right you meant we have that responsibility to each other only when it comes to Covid. Just pre empting the tirade. And thats what has really fucked me off about all this. It ONLY counts when it comes to Covid. Afterwards it will be back to the usual default setting.
