Is anyone else still getting their DC to change clothes when they get home from school?

Just that, really. I can't work out whether I'm being ridiculous and storing up mental health issues for my poor kids in the future, or just being sensible. I am already feeling like I've mucked this up and scarred them for life, so please don't tear strips off me, but I'd be really grateful for a quick straw poll.

No. Never thought surfaces were much of an issue for a respiratory infection.

Earlgrey666 · 19/05/2021 23:34

no

TweeterandtheMonkeyman · 19/05/2021 23:34

No, just wash hands

TinaYouFatLard · 19/05/2021 23:35

No. Never have.

omgthepain · 19/05/2021 23:36

No I never bothered with that the transmission rate on clothing is so low it was a ridiculous suggestion

I get clinical staff in hospital not travelling to/from in uniforms but not with school kids. I do however bath mine before tea (just our routine) and put pyjamas on but they stay in school clothes a bit.

Lollypop4 · 19/05/2021 23:37

No , Never have

User27aw · 19/05/2021 23:38

No never have

Mygardenisanightmare · 19/05/2021 23:38

No, blimey

BluebirdHill · 19/05/2021 23:39

Yes but that's not so much about Covid as getting into more comfy clothes. Maybe frame it that way? Do you change when you get back from work? Loads of threads on here where people say first thing they do is take off work clothes and put joggers or PJs on.

Archiduchesse · 19/05/2021 23:39

Yes. DC get changed as soon as they get home.

GreatBritishWineDrinker · 19/05/2021 23:39

My kids have always got changed when they come home from school. They want to get out of their uniform ASAP. In to normal clothes if they're going back out etc or lounging stuff if they aren't.

ANewDawnANewDay · 19/05/2021 23:39

Well, I get them to wash and change anyway. I don't like them loafing around the house in their school uniform.

flashylamp · 19/05/2021 23:40

Still? I never did.

User1357 · 19/05/2021 23:40

Yes, I still do. I think I will forever more unfortunately. It is now ingrained!

Backyard72 · 19/05/2021 23:40

Yes

Letsplough · 19/05/2021 23:41

Nope & never have

MarcelineMissouri · 19/05/2021 23:41

No, i have never done this. I work in a school too and don’t always change when I get home depending on what I’ve worn that day. That is not the way people have been catching covid.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 19/05/2021 23:41

We did back in September. We had two shielding in the house. They would often have changed when they got home anyway, but it became compulsory. Stopped being as strict in January after they both had covid.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 19/05/2021 23:43

Are they not dying to get out of the uniform when they get in the door 😂

TortoiseShed · 19/05/2021 23:48

I usually get mine changed. Not because of covid though. I just always did it myself when I was little; come home from school and change into play clothes. I still do it myself sometimes too, especially after a big day in slightly uncomfortable dressy clothes. I love getting into jeans and a t-shirt after that.

CrunchyCarrot · 19/05/2021 23:50

I don't have kids, but when I was school age I changed the minute I got home from school from my uniform into something comfortable! Ditto when I was working, always changed straight away. It's just a ritual of getting home and getting comfy.

GreyhoundG1rl · 19/05/2021 23:50

Well, they do, but only because they always did.

GreyhoundG1rl · 19/05/2021 23:50

Before Covid, I mean.

ShrikeAttack · 19/05/2021 23:57

I never 'made' them, I'm not worried about contaminated clothing. They do get changed from their uniforms as a matter of course though. I never hung around in my uniform when I was at school.

They generally put jeans and a t-shirt on when they get home. I think it's nice to delineate.

Beamur · 20/05/2021 00:01

My DD (high school) always showers and changes once home from school. She didn't do this pre-covid.
I think it's actually not a bad habit for her to have got into.
