I’m due to go and get my second Oxford jab on Saturday and I really don’t want it. I’m 30 and have been put off getting it 😩 work is really pushing me to have it. Not sure what to do :(

OP posts:
SlidesAndLadders · 28/04/2021 09:46

If you don't want it don't have it. Someone else will take it.

FWIW I think it's ridiculous but it's your life and your decision.

MarshaBradyo · 28/04/2021 09:48

Why? If the first went ok what is concerning you about second

Anotheronetwo · 28/04/2021 09:48

Do you know why you are feeling like this? Is it because of bad side affects first time around? Or are you worried about the possible small risk of blood clots? Or something else?

Thedarksideofthemoon30 · 28/04/2021 09:53

Blood clots I think. I was fine the first time :(

Good - I’ll have it then. Ta.

scaredsadandstuck · 28/04/2021 09:56

I thought blood clot risk was only linked to first jabs? Or have things moved on?

itsmellslikepopcarn · 28/04/2021 09:57

The chance of blood clots is so tiny. Have you never been on the pill?

Bluntness100 · 28/04/2021 09:57

Have you read something about the second jab? Or is this a mental health/anxiety issue?

bookworm1632 · 28/04/2021 09:57

ALL of the cases found to date have followed the first dose.

If you happened to be one of the very rare people it affects, it would hit you the first time.

Moreover, with the AZ jab, the other side effects are worse after the first jab, people report that the second jab is far less problematic (as opposed to the mRNA jabs where more are reported following the second jab).

So in short, you've done the hard bit!

savethegrannies · 28/04/2021 09:57

You are 30
Assuming you are not CV or CEV you are ridiculously low risk.
Only you can decide what you put in your body. Don't allow pressure from anybody else to interfere with your decision (either way) here.
Your body, your choice.

EnglishRain · 28/04/2021 09:58

Don't know why people are being so mean. OP is allowed to feel worried.

I am worried about my second AZ too. I will get it, but I don't feel very assured that the risks post second vaccine are less than post first because I don't think there is enough data on it yet.

Loveistheonlyhipe · 28/04/2021 09:59

Oh fhs sake just have it. People in India would literally give anything to be in your position right now. I'm having my second one tomorrow, I'm female, cannot wait.

sadpapercourtesan · 28/04/2021 10:00

I understand OP, I'm not particularly looking forward to my second jab either after the first one knocked me around so badly.

I am going to have it though. I'd feel irresponsible if I didn't, but I certainly considered giving it a miss!

Why?? The Op is raising a valid point and confidence has gone down sinc eht clots news and if you missed the big news, those under 30 are not getting the Oxford jab first time around.

OP is 30 and if i was their age I'd be worried. I've got mine 2nd oford one a few days ago, and was i worried yes i was and STILL am but on blanace of things and as it stands with the info we have, i went for it but it does worry me and that is a fact.

The indence of clots initially was set at 1 in 600k then with more info it was 1 in 250k and now with a lot more info accurate info it is at/about 1 in 115k.

Yes, millions would bite your hand off for the jab but many are worried rightly so but it has to blanaced on risk and as it stands go for it but if you are younger and worried IMHO it is even more difficult to decide for some.

The quicker we get more infor the better.

Thanks

FFS, grow up grow up. Are you saying no one is worried? Yes people are eager to get it but people have a right to get the honest info and make an informed decison oh FFS.

I could have easily posted your post, it is how i felt and feel. Thanks
Azerothi · 28/04/2021 10:07

Don't have it if you don't want it. Literally.

My neighbour, who is 90, has refused his second one because of scaremongering rumours, so you're not alone.

For context, I have had both of mine and did as soon as I was called back in February. Pfizer.

Loveistheonlyhipe · 28/04/2021 10:08

Simply not true, they get a choice

Stop whinging about them.

Just stop bloody opening them as they seem to annoy you so much.

Loveistheonlyhipe · 28/04/2021 10:09

Are you saying no one is worried?

Sure they are, I'd be far more worried that we could end up like India if people refuse their vaccination though.

Divebar2021 · 28/04/2021 10:10

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/theconversation.com/amp/blood-clot-risks-comparing-the-astrazeneca-vaccine-and-the-contraceptive-pill-158652

Here we go.... all explained in here. Essentially blood clots likely in 1in 1000 women on the combined pill. A thousand!!!!! Interestingly also in 41% of COVID cases rising to 95% of people who have the disease. So you have a far greater risk of having a blood clot on either the pill or if you catch COVID.

Well, there are a lot of under 40's that have had both due to being in the NHS/care/etc. So I think there's a pretty good data.
Loveistheonlyhipe · 28/04/2021 10:12

These sort of threads threaten to undermine the vaccination programme, that's why they're dangerous. Of course we want to know that the vaccine is for the most part safe, it's this peculiar assertion that it needs to be 100% safe that I don't get. Nothing in life is 100% safe, it's weighing up the pros and cons
