As we're all here I might as well ask, fellow people born in 1980 are we millenials or not? I feel we might have more in common with millennials because we had phones and the internet while we were still at school, but the definitions vary between 1981 and 1980.

WarriorN · 26/04/2021 17:30

I think we are gen x?

Scissorsforthedrifter · 26/04/2021 17:31

I didn’t have the internet when I was at school 😂. One lad in 6th form had a phone though, it was very exciting.

TyneFilth · 26/04/2021 17:31

I'm booked! (Jan 79) and my friends Oct 78 and Apr 79! Surrey, national website

Catsarecrazy · 26/04/2021 17:36

I feel quite emotional all of a sudden. I have been waiting for this for SO LONG. Will have to try not to cry on whoever administers the vaccination ... 😭

Slayduggee · 26/04/2021 17:40

May 1980 still not eligible

Chickenandegg8 · 26/04/2021 17:41

Just tried for my other half. He turned 43 today. He can book but nearest centre 40 miles away so will wait for a closer location.

BessMarvin · 26/04/2021 17:47

Have any 41 year olds booked through the system yet? I've lost track

MaggieFS · 26/04/2021 17:58

Thanks! I've had a bit more of a play in the system and if I select a different (but also close) location for jab one (in the same week) it spits out completely different options for location for jab two!

I'll go ahead and book and then see what I can do!

WhatWouldChristineCagneyDo · 26/04/2021 18:23

@WhenDoISleep

Also just booked in SW London/Surrey Borders. Annoyingly the large local vax centre is moving mid-May and the system doesn't seem set up to make a second appt at the new site automatically (and trying manually didn't work), otherwise my first appt would have this Wednesday . Traveling to another large centre next week instead.
@WhenDoISleep I am now booked in for next week, I'm 42. I wanted the same vaccination centre as you as it's in walking distance, but the site I'd have to go to for the 2nd jab is basically inaccessable to me as nobody in my household drives. So I'm also going to a different centre. A few miles away but at least it's just a few stops by train rather than requiring me go all the way up to Clapham Junction & back out again.
MummaPI · 26/04/2021 18:23

Thanks to this thread, I've just booked my 42 year old hubby in! Yay!

PeonyRose80 · 26/04/2021 18:24

I think 1980 is Gen X and Millenials is 1982 onwards? very limited internet til I was about 18 or so and nokia snake was as good as it got when I was at 6th form 🤣

Gufo · 26/04/2021 18:25

43 and managed to book my first one Grin.

When it came to booking the second one, it said no locations available (even when I tried playing with the first one's location). Does anyone know if my first one will be booked anyway and if I'll get a confirmation? Once I couldn't book my second one there were no further instructions.

Level75 · 26/04/2021 18:27

I've booked (43) and friends who are 42 have too. We're in a big Northern city and only had the choice of our huge vaccination hub.

Might be worth checking, my friend couldn't book her first without a second
Eccle80 · 26/04/2021 18:31

@BessMarvin some 41 have, seems like maybe it is end June 79 as the cut off

Eccle80 · 26/04/2021 18:32

On the millennial thing, I think I am probably more like Gen X, phones weren’t widespread until I was at uni

Gufo · 26/04/2021 18:35

To answer my own question, no you need to book both!

RunAwayNow · 26/04/2021 18:54

Age 42, just booked mine. So grateful for this thread! It's 15 miles away but frankly I would drive to John O'Groats if I had to.

BessMarvin · 26/04/2021 18:54

Thank you Eccle80

TankGirl97 · 26/04/2021 18:57

I consider myself Gen X (early 1981). Definitely more in common with that than millennials. I definitely think 80/81 is borderline.

noideaboutanything · 26/04/2021 19:03

June 1979 booked for SW London thurs!!! Been trying hourly for weeks 🙈 good luck everyone

whatswithtodaytoday · 26/04/2021 19:05

Late 1981 and definitely feel Gen X, not Millennial. There was very basic internet at 6th form but it didn't really do anything, I got a phone the day I got my A Level results, and I wrote all my uni essays by hand and then typed them up on the uni computers.

I'm so relieved digital cameras weren't a thing when I was a teenager! Grin

TyneFilth · 26/04/2021 19:08

early 79 and definitely feel Gen X. First phone when at uni - Nokia StarTac. Had the same number for 18 years. I still sometimes reel off the number.

Neither Blur nor Oasis. Suede and Nirvana. But then, I really also did like All Saints. Never yet been to Glasto, fear I've missed its heyday by a long way. More likely to head for a folk festival now!
