Oh Aug 1979 nothing yet will try in an hour if it has hit May 1979!

Copernico · 26/04/2021 15:59

I’m 41 and was able to get a walk-in first jab last week here: www.westminster.gov.uk/walk-vaccination-service-now-available-westminster

The website hasn’t been updated but they’re taking anyone 40 and over.

Bybbyeblackbird · 26/04/2021 16:00

I'll polish my crown for a bit but more than happy to hand it over to someone younger Grin

Archiduchesse · 26/04/2021 16:05

Booked my 44 year old DH last week thanks to this thread. He's just had his and got Moderna (Stoke on Trent)

Anothermuddywalk · 26/04/2021 16:06

I got in! Turns out feeding my addiction was worth it after all! Mid 1978, Wiltshire.

Justajot · 26/04/2021 16:06

I'm sure this has been asked somewhere, but any thoughts on whether I should try to get a mass vaccination hub vs local to get Moderna vs AZ (though I know there are no guarantees of what they'll have on the day). I can't find any decent information on which vaccine is better/pros & cons.

WhiteChocTwix · 26/04/2021 16:06

Following in hope and fascination! 1982 here so still some way to go, the waiting is so frustrating. 47 yr old DH done nearly 2 weeks ago. GP now inviting anyone 40 and over. So near yet still so far! 😬

Frazzled2207 · 26/04/2021 16:07

aaargh just got my dh (late 78) in and the only appointment they have is for tomorrow and he says he's busy! No appointments for next week (yet). So cross with him just now

ProfessorPootle · 26/04/2021 16:09

Yes booked on the national website for the Heathrow Centre.

nordica · 26/04/2021 16:11

Exciting it's getting closer and closer! 83 born here so a bit of a wait still... Grin

ProfessorPootle · 26/04/2021 16:11

@MRex

“My dh is Feb 79 and booked, hopefully not long”

“Did you book on the national system and he's only just turned 42? If so I think your DH if the youngest so far.”

Yes booked on the national website, we’re selling London and GP is only doing 50+ still

Can you book away from home? I've got to go to the city for some dental procedures (major work) and if it coincided could I book for there or does it have to be at home?

loads of centres come up in order of distance so you can book anywhere that comes up. That said I think (not got that far) that you book the 2nd at the same time. I think complicated if not impossible to book 2 at different centres.
Shiloh139 · 26/04/2021 16:17

Huh. I tried to book this morning (I'm 43) and couldn't but having seen some of the more recent posts on this thread, I realised perhaps I should have tried more than once. Just assumed because I'm not 44 I still couldn't do it yet. It's now allowing me to pick a slot but it's not a hugely convenient location. Does anyone know from their own experience whether I should wait and retry later today/tomorrow for a better location (like with the Covid tests last year - refresh, refresh and you might get somewhere closer) or whether I need to just snap this up?

Cuntryhouse · 26/04/2021 16:18

Been trying all day (and month) 43, just booked! Not much available although it is very rural.

It asks you to put in a postcode to search for centres, so you can put in any postcode you like. It then asked me if I wanted to have my 2nd in the same or a different one, I went for different and it was simple enough.
WarriorN · 26/04/2021 16:19

I don't know, my second one, a later date obviously, is in a much more convenient location.

Fulloffalafel · 26/04/2021 16:21

I'm 42 and was able to book a little earlier at a central London hospital for the middle of next week.

Got my reference numbers, but haven't yet received a text or email. Do they come through instantly or after a delay?

AlexandraEiffel · 26/04/2021 16:23

@Fulloffalafel mine were instant

TokyoSushi · 26/04/2021 16:23

I've managed to get about 5 friends booked in now today, there'll just be little me waiting by myself at this rate!

Shiloh139 · 26/04/2021 16:24

Yes you can. I've just followed the process through on the NHS site and it asks if you want the second jab at the same clinic. I clicked no as my first clinic site isn't that convenient to me. You then put in your postcode for the second jab and it will find closest centres available to you. So I have 1 jab on the other side of the city centre to me and 1 jab just a mile or two away from my house now booked in.
FrenchyQ · 26/04/2021 16:24

Booked mine (aug 1978) for Sunday, wouldn't let me book 2nd one though

MaggieFS · 26/04/2021 16:25

It's allowing me to book my first, in a couple of weeks (could actually go elsewhere this week, but I'm already busy, annoyingly) but for my second, the only options coming up are ridiculous. Bonkers ridiculous. I don't mind a bit of travel but these are crazy. What should I do? Do I book the crazy to ensure I get the first and then try and rearrange, or book nothing yet which means postponing the first too?
