Was Moderna today at Islington BDC

SquashMinusIsShit · 06/05/2021 20:54

Derbyshire must be storming ahead, a friend who is 38 (birthdate September 1982) got a text for the GP booking route. Her DP is 6 months older & had his jab this week, same as me (40)

Awaiting the thirties vaccine cohort as an August 81 baby. Just saw this in the news so it looks like us thirty year olds are potentially getting Pfizer or Moderna; www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/health/covid-vaccine-astrazeneca-blood-clots-cases-latest-b1842455.html%3famp
Very thankful for any vaccine and looking foreward to being fully vaxxed so I can visit and hug my fully vaxxed eighty year old mum! Grin

Munchathon · 06/05/2021 23:04

Brilliant!!

BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln · 07/05/2021 07:22

But won't that potentially slow down the rollout? In this area currently, Pfizer is being reserved for second vaccinations. I'd happily take AZ if it would get me the vaccine sooner.

nordica · 07/05/2021 07:35

The UK has millions of Pfizer doses stockpiled currently, and most of the second doses needed in the coming weeks will be AZ anyway as that's what the majority of people have had so far for their 1st.

According to the Times AZ can still be offered so sounds like we'll have a choice. I'm very happy to wait for Pfizer or Moderna. 38 and hoping the rumours of booking opening to us 35-39 cohort next week are true. 🤞

WhiteChocTwix · 07/05/2021 08:39

Early 82 here and my GP just text me for an appointment! All booked in for Tuesday at a local vaccine centre 10 mins drive away! I'm so excited! Grin

Slayduggee · 07/05/2021 13:07

Moderna at Plymouth Argyle today

Pfizer isn’t being reserved for second doses. There is a reserve of second doses which is maintained to guarantee it is available. But that does not mean that Pfizer is only used for second dose

Pfizer is the anticipated reliable 1st dose supply we have all been expecting. AZ is now the very unreliable supply.

Pfizer will slow things down. Because it is more difficult to use and distribute.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln · 07/05/2021 21:26

Is anyone else not getting the health and social care worker question?

CynsterBitch · 07/05/2021 22:19

@BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln
Yeah didn’t get it at last check, just date of birth and then straight to the inevitable not eligible

LemonCake79 · 08/05/2021 07:15

Yes, same here. I've had the health worker question every time I've tried but it disappeared yesterday.

Florelei · 08/05/2021 07:49

They are starting to call my age group (1983/84) in my hometown in South Tyneside. A lot of my old school friends on Facebook are very excited!

Just had mine. Unexpected moderna. Had to walk past the huge AZ queue my mum was in. They told her they decided last night to give everyone 40ish and under moderna for 1st doses.

nordica · 08/05/2021 12:53

The national booking website will be updated to allow under 40s and pregnant women to choose a non-AZ vaccine.

Prediction seems to still be booking will open for 35-39 group next week or the week after at the latest.

Are you under 40? I am 40, have my first jab booked for tomorrow and am vaguely hoping "under 40" includes 40 even tho i have no reason to think it would!
Scissorsforthedrifter · 08/05/2021 13:21

london I'm 40 too! My mum was waiting for me because I had to wait 15 mins after and was talking to them and they definitely said it was my age.

I have a clotting disorder and was convinced AZ was fine but I have to admit to feeling a tiny bit of relief.

They had a pink card/white card thing and pink meant moderna. While I was registering I heard one of them say if if was a second dose and the first was AZ they couldn't have moderna, so I guess some people were asking to swap.

I really hope it is next week!!!!!

Presumably we won't be able to book until the website is updated. Hope it doesn't take too long to do!

Raspberry12 · 08/05/2021 13:53

Good the website is being updated... it seems like it’s been difficult for pregnant women to get the right vaccination booked. Hoping thirties can book soon too 🤞
