Just to counter - I know of someone seriously ill after Pfizer vaccine. I wonder if it literally saved their life.

Wakeupin2022 · 05/05/2021 17:48

Seriously ill with Covid that should say.

TruelyWonder · 05/05/2021 19:19

What age ranges are we doing now? Still within 40s or is it starting to drop into 30s?

Only very slightly. It's available to those turning 40 by 1 July.

Thanks ❤

I'm 34 and had my text today. DH is 38 and hot his too. Wokingham, Berkshire

Weeedonkey · 05/05/2021 19:28

Does anyone know if you have to await a letter or can you book if you get a text? I’ve been trying to book through my text’s link and not getting anywhere (tried every day for a few days now) so wondering if it’s because I need to wait for the letter? Confused

Weeedonkey · 05/05/2021 19:29

Just wondering because people younger than me are getting their texts (no illnesses) and wondering what’s going on?

Marmite27 · 05/05/2021 19:29

@Megan2018

I’m 30hrs post first AZ vaccine. No worthy side effects to note so far. Possibly slightly warm and have taken a couple of pre-emptive paracetamol this morning. Very slight ache in arm but less than flu vaccine.
I’m 24h +5 hours on from my my AZ jab.

I had a dreadful headache this morning and felt really tired. I called in sick as I wouldn’t have coped with a screen all day (my work policy is post-vax absence doesn’t go on your sickness record and any time you need off to get the vax is granted 👍).

I was really fatigued and slept most of the day. Developed a sore throat at 5pm, but that’s gone now Hmm as has the headache.

However the sore arm is still in situ. I’m first in the queue for any vax with my sleeve rolled up and a smile on my face, so I’ve had a few (including some exotic diseases for travelling). So I thought it would just be the normal sore arm, but this is something else! We have a heavy feather duvet and it hurt pulling it up the bed last night so much that it woke me up.

Still very glad to be vax’ed though Grin

I'll be happy to avoid the next thread if it'll be full of more silliness about which vaccine to have.

Seems like the stocks of Moderna may be running out everywhere so it’ll probably get worse before it gets better.

HairyFloppins · 05/05/2021 19:35

40 in August and still waiting here. I presume some areas must be ahead of others.

Something that annoyed me earlier on a Disney cruise facebook group people in their 20s we're being encouraged to drive round vaccine centres to bypass the queue so they can go on a UK cruise this summer. Fortunately they got turned down where they went.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln · 05/05/2021 19:40

40 in September and still waiting here...

@Weeedonkey assuming you're in England and assuming you've been sent a text to your gp hub booking system and not the national booking system then no, I don't think you get at letter. If you can't access the gp hub booking link then it might be worth calling your gp surgery.

They are now starting to stockpile Pfizer other than seconds or medical need etc too. Need it for the under 30s.

Yes England. The text was from ‘NHS Vaccine’ is that GP or National? Assuming GP …

If the link doesn't direct you to the national booking system, then yes it's from your gp/gp hub.

  1. Booked on the website the day it opened up to 40 plus (last Weds?). Got a Sunday am appointment with the second booked in for July 21st. Given AZ. No side effects other than a sore arm (bit like tetanus jab). Very glad it is done!
bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 05/05/2021 21:20

41, first dose of AZ this pm.
Spectacularly efficient. I joined the queue outside at 13:59 for my 14:05 appt & was out at 14:11.
2nd dose 21st July. No side effects yet but planning to drink lots of water tonight and maybe a pre-emptive paracetamol.

MapleBee · 05/05/2021 21:50

Slow news. Feels like it’s never going to happen.

Whoateallthechocolate · 05/05/2021 22:15

I had AZ yesterday lunchtime. I drank litres and litres of water after the person who gave me the jab said it was the best thing to do and it wasn't possible to drink too much water. I also took precautionary paracetamol as soon as I got home and again in the early evening.
My arm is sore if I apply pressure to it and I've been feeling tired since 4pm but was pretty busy yesterday and today and had to get up a couple of times in the night for a wee having drunk all of that water!
If this is all the side effects I get, then I can only say I'm very thankful to all of the amazing scientists etc who have developed this. Some of my friends were very ill (although not hospitalised) with Covid. As a family, we have been very lucky as both DH and I have been working from home for the past year, been able to get regular supermarket deliveries etc so have been at minimal risk but this still feels like a huge leap forward. And anything that means that I never have to try & home school my children is a good thing as far as I am concerned!

Flev · 05/05/2021 22:38

Went for my second AZ today (social care worker, 42yrs) which was refused because I have currently unexplained low platelets which started (along with other issues) since my first dose. They are really taking the blood clots thing very seriously, I had to have a long chat with a doctor, he then consulted with a colleague before telling me I couldn't have my second dose. A bit of a pain, but it's reassuring to know they are being careful.

Now I've got to wait for further investigation from my GP into the root cause of the problem - or for them to refer me to start again with Pfizer.

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 05/05/2021 23:11

How did you know you have low platelets?

ilovetomatoes · 05/05/2021 23:38

Had AZ late last night, felt like hell all day today.......

IndigoC · 05/05/2021 23:47

@SimonedeBeauvoirscat

Not sure about OP but it’s possible to order private online fingerprick blood tests that include a platelet check. I’ve been keeping track of my RBC that way (I have anaemia).
SquashMinusIsShit · 06/05/2021 05:57

@Weeedonkey I've just checked on my phone, that's the national site so if the link doesn't work go direct.
