@ureterr1blemuriel

Thanks *@MRex* - yes I think that’s what they are doing. There’s definitely not 1600 18-30 who are CEV in our village and the nearby town. I don’t want to complain to anyone as there’s been a few local GP’s not following rules. I know a very healthy 41 yo who had their first a month ago. He was surprised he was invited!

@vaccineenvy sorry to hear that you’re experiencing it too. Hopefully we’ll get sorted soon!

Thanks @ Frazzled2207 - I’m really hoping some come up this week 🤞🏻

The national programme is responsible for getting doses together based on need for everyone required, those GPs are subverting the system because they arrogantly think they know best. It's up to you, but really you should complain, those doses are intended for 40+ and not for younger people.
@Frazzled2207 2019 data showed 4.02 million people aged 40-45, I would assume similar amount now, many of who will have been jabbed. So at 100000 a day it will take at least a month but as I said many will have been done already and some will not want the vaccine.
yes absolutely it will not be not anything near 4 million, 3 million max perhaps, but at 100,000 per day anyone under 40 shouldn't be too optimistic about it opening out to under 40s imminently IMO.

MRex · 03/05/2021 20:32

I do think we're going to need someone from their early 30s to take over setting up the next thread with updated title, just in case there is a jump in May.

@Mum2threejs

Fairly angry about this today I’m 37, my work colleague is 32. We both have the docs but she got a phone call asking if she wanted to book. I haven’t . Our docs is currently saying over 40s though.
Completely understandable to be angry. A lot of this roll out hasn’t made sense at times or at least been unfair, with the inconsistencies in age-related vaccine invitations.

Good problem to have
toadstool32 · 03/05/2021 20:42

Dh and I are 40 and 32 respectively both no underlying health conditions, both already jabbed and very grateful

Snooptheboot · 03/05/2021 20:48

Dh had his first jab on Friday, felt rough Saturday and Sunday but back to normal today. I’m ten years younger so not expecting to be invited any time soon although my oldest friend had her first jab over a month ago and she’s younger than me!

Anothermuddywalk · 03/05/2021 20:51

Had Moderna earlier today at Madjeski stadium in Reading. I'm 42. One of the Marshalls I spoke to said they were expecting a "surge" again in the next week...

wintertravel1980 · 03/05/2021 20:54

It may sound unfair but GP systems sometimes pick up people who have got amber flags in their medical history (e.g. hospitalisations or treatments related to potential Covid risks). Occasionally individuals get flagged as having high BMI due to errors in recorded height/weight measurements. My GP neighbour is telling me it is much easier and more efficient to go ahead with vaccinations than to investigate each individual invitation going out to a younger person.

Such errors represent a relatively small percentage of cases and should not matter at the population level but, of course, they are irritating when you come across them personally.

urgh it is so unfair isn't it. Our local gps are not doing any under 50s at all. So at least locally it now seems fair, nobody my age-ish (40) is getting booked in other than when they lower the age range via the website.
ureterr1blemuriel · 03/05/2021 21:22

I just got an appointment - I can’t believe it!!! I was obsessively checking the nhs booking website, finally one venue came up but it said unavailable. Two minutes later they had availability every day this week?! I got DH in too but within minutes the spaces dropped considerably.

Good luck those still trying and keep persevering!

ureterr1blemuriel · 03/05/2021 21:23

P.S It’s an hours drive but I totally don’t mind

I sympathise. I'm just shy of 40 so haven't been called. My sister is 30 and was called this week. No reason other than that's where her GP has worked up to.

I sometimes feel as though I am the only person I know of my age who hasn't had theirs. Some friends got them through work, some have underlying health conditions, some (like my sister) were called early and some lied about being carers. Obviously I've got no quibble with the first two categories but I assumed when it was my turn I'd be seen fairly quickly. A 40 yo friend who booked in the week said the first appointment she could get is 21st May! Sounds like mine will definitely be June.

I wouldn't mind but I am anxious about the vaccine risks now community spread is so low. I'd rather get on with it so I can stop reading worrying articles and fretting.

TokyoSushi · 04/05/2021 07:10

12 hours in now on AZ Jab, feel completely fine except for a standard sore arm. Not sure if I'm lucky, or if it's the calm before the storm? If I can just get the school run out of the way that'll be great!!

Frazzled2207 · 04/05/2021 07:43

@TokyoSushi
Great news - am about to send dh off to get his (expecting Az) and he’s a bit worried about being written off for the rest of the week

BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln · 04/05/2021 07:45

@LemonCake79 I'm 3 months too young to book on the national site and I haven't been card by another route, so it's definitely not just you!

Andrewsgirl · 04/05/2021 09:00

AZ yesterday afternoon, sore arm and bit of a headache, pretty disturbed night, but apart from that nothing at all.

Eccle80 · 04/05/2021 09:05

@TokyoSushi fingers crossed you have dodged any side effects and stay feeling fine!

Hope those of you nearly 40 can book soon, I sympathise with how you are feeling. @LemonCake79 rather than booking something so far ahead, if you find the same it may be better to wait and keep checking back for them to add more appointments, I know that has worked for others who couldn’t originally get anything.

TokyoSushi · 04/05/2021 09:08

14 hours in, tired and slightly sore arm, but otherwise feel great!

whatswithtodaytoday · 04/05/2021 09:42

@LemonCake79 I'm five months too young to book and haven't been called yet, it's not just you! I feel like most people people around my age have had their first now, it is frustrating but hopefully not much longer. I do live in an area with a lot of older people and families, very few under 30s.

Megan2018 · 04/05/2021 10:09

Just had mine at East of England Showground-Astra Zeneca. I was really early (worried about journey) but they waived me straight in and I was out before appointment due.

Yes, I've been wondering that myself. Presumably more appointments get released at certain points in the week as supply and staff situation becomes clearer.

I do have a moderna site within 30 minutes drive (well, it is moderna at the moment) so I'm not sure if my friend prioritised booking there and that's created the wait. That said the local vaccine sites are just doing second jabs at the moment so that may have been all she was offered.

LemonCake79 · 04/05/2021 10:18

And thank you for the solidarity. I know I'm not alone, it just feels like it at times.

Off for another check on the site... Grin

SquashMinusIsShit · 04/05/2021 10:20

40 & had AZ yesterday.

Was cold & shivery overnight, stonking headache this morning which has gone after some ibuprofen but really achey hips today.

Sat down working isn't helping, also not sure if it's the vaccine or 8 mile bike ride on Saturday Grin

My friend is 2 weeks too young, her DH 6 days. They are disappointed to have to wait longer too
