Beginning to think I did the right thing now.
Anybody else?

@XenoBitch I was referring to the 'Xeno' in your name as it relates to foreigners and your lack of interest of anywhere foreign Confused

How do you know the poster has a "lack of interest in anything foreign"? Did you miss where they said they couldn't afford to travel /go abroad?

Katya213 · 19/04/2021 21:14

Im a nurse and got offered Moderna or astrazeneca, I took the astrazeneca as everybody i know had it and apart from a few flu like symptoms, they are fine. Call me a sheep all you like but that's how I judged it and I'm happy I got a vaccine regardless of what one it was.

Flyonawalk · 19/04/2021 21:17

@CoffeeWithCheese That is exactly how I feel. I do not intend to have the vaccine as I am comfortable with my own risk assessment around covid.

Like you I am deeply uncomfortable with the growing mood towards coercion in the U.K. I agree the vaccine has been mis-sold as a route out of this mess.

NattyDiamondDoll · 19/04/2021 21:20

I've been invited and I've declined. I don't want it.
Each to their own.

MaxHanno · 19/04/2021 21:24

@Pinetreesfall

No, don't want it. Apparently I'm on some list so keep flagging up on their systems. I've had 6 texts from the GP, two phone calls and then another today from a National NHS number? How many times do I need to say no thanks!
Because it's important for everyone not just you. Selfish idiot

Belonging to the underrepresented participant groups in clinical trials, alongside the legal indemnity for vaccine developers and £120k damage payment in it's place are the main reasons I'm opting out right now, that's not to say I won't have it in the future.
I'm also already disabled due to a several conditions.
I have no judgement/opinions on anyone else's choice regardless of what they opted for.

If there was no vaccine by now the NHS would be on its knees and when you need an operation or life saving treatment it would have not been there. But as most people are not selfish idiots and have had the vaccine you can look forward to some sort of normality soon. You may thank me as I'm am one of the millions who have had the vaccine not just to protect myself but to protect you as well.

RedcurrantPuff · 19/04/2021 21:29

I’d love it if my periods stopped. Nearly 48 and I’m bored of them now.

RedcurrantPuff · 19/04/2021 21:30

In answer to the q I have had the jab, first dose AZ

MaxNormal · 19/04/2021 21:31

MaxHanno you know as well as anyone that verbally abusing people won't make them change their mind. So you're just being a dick for the sake of it.

What do you think the way out is?

tenlittlecygnets · 19/04/2021 21:36

@XenoBitch - I think the poster thought your username referred to xenophobia...

I can't understand how someone can have no interest in going abroad. Why on Earth not?

puppeteer · 19/04/2021 21:36

I declined mine. Decided I wasn't particularly at risk.

Not anti-vax, and the vaccine science looks sound. But don't like being pushed to take something when I'm not being met half way.

The promises of coming out of lockdown based on the vaccine have fizzled, so the carrot is gone for me.

Might change my mind if it looks like we'll be able to go abroad to see family, or even just on holiday.

I do hope those vaccine passport plans done get far though!

NotImpossible · 19/04/2021 21:39

@Sadsiblingatsea

I won’t be having the jab either. I know so many who have suffered horrible side effects. Why risk it for a virus that kills so few?
Why are people comparing side effects with deaths? Surely a better comparison would be deaths from Covid vs. the vaccine or the side effects from Covid/vaccine?
MolyHolyGuacamole · 19/04/2021 21:44

@Brownteddybear no, I just couldn't read into the future as the first post by xenobitch simply stated 'I have no interest' in going abroad. I was commenting on the irony of the name.

KurtWilde · 19/04/2021 21:48

Declined the offer. I had covid end of January, I'll let my immune system do the job it's supposed to do after an illness. Not anti-vaxx, kids are all up to date on jabs, just don't see the point in having a jab for something when I'm not old or vulnerable and I already had the bug!

MarshaBradyo · 19/04/2021 21:48

The promises of coming out of lockdown based on the vaccine have fizzled, so the carrot is gone for me.

There are millions getting vaccinated so we can end lockdown, if we do exit it I’m pretty sure everyone will take full advantage whether they contributed or not

Do you know more than 127k people with awful side effects? You must do if you think the numbers killed by Covid are so few but those with side effects are many.
TulipsInAJug · 19/04/2021 21:51

Yes, I've been invited and declined. Why would I want to have something injected into my body which is still in the experimental stages and any adverse effects may not come to light for years?

This. I've declined.

Flyonawalk · 19/04/2021 22:01

@MarshaBradyo I think the way out of this is honest dissemination of information about risk, and restoration of personal choice.

Captpike · 19/04/2021 22:02

Devlesko has an agenda.

vera99 · 19/04/2021 22:06

Because of the 'level playing field, old skool message board virtually unmoderated MN has become a hotbed of anti-vaxxers in various guises. Thankfully it is unrepresentative of society at large.

I think so. I’d like to see stats on take up and see if it’s still very high.
vera99 · 19/04/2021 22:12

Nobody in my family or social circle has or will refuse the vaccine far from it most are gagging at the bit for it if they are in the queue. I only see scepticism from randoms online.
