I can’t get out of bed

fireflylanegirls · 08/04/2021 14:05

I feel like my life is over. I literally couldn’t get out of bed this morning, the way I feel is just too bad.

I spent over a year worrying about Covid, not just worrying, obsessing.
Panic attacks, sleepless nights, I couldn’t focus on my family life, couldn’t concentrate because of the worry.

I was finally vaccinated and although initially I didn’t feel any better, within a few weeks i started to feel so much happier.

Then the shit news comes about the clots from the vaccine.

I feel absolutely numb. I’ve spent the last 24hours just crying. I wish I’d never had the vaccine now.
It’s been 4 weeks and I’m such a nervous wreck.

My husband has had to drop our son at my mother in laws today because I’m in no fit state to look after him.

I’ve called my GP and have been told to increase my Sertraline to 100mg.

I absolutely hate living with this fear.

I knew this vaccine was too good to be true 😩

I’m not sure you’re completely taking on board what people are saying op.

What do you mean?

I agree with others; this is not about vaccines or blood clots or even Coronavirus.

Some medical professional needs to get an overview of your mental health overall, and try to deal with it as a whole. You're at the point where you're unable to live a functional life.

Can anyone advocate for you?

I doubt op is in a good enough place to rationalise the advice being given re. Stats on vaccines and risk of clots. Op, maybe you should try to focus on something else away from this topic as it just feeds your anxiety.

@UnderHisAye

I don’t need anyone to advocate for me.

I’ve called my GP myself today. He told me to increase my Sertraline dosage.

I told him how bad I was feeling and he said the increased Sertraline will help and he will call me in a weeks time.

I don’t see what more they can do.

OpheliasCrayon · 08/04/2021 15:08

You're at no risk from the vaccine, you won't develop a clot now. But it doesn't matter how many of us tell you this as as others have said, you're extremely anxious and this is what is holding you at the moment.

I have mental health problems and at times they have been extremely severe - at which point I have been under the care of the crisis team. Antidepressants clearly aren't working for you at this point and again as others have said, you absolutely need more help than you're getting as this is nothing about covid and absolutely everything about your mental health.

Honestly you either need to find the number for your local crisis team or go to a&e. You need and deserve help.

MrsHastingslikethebattle · 08/04/2021 15:11

Op, sorry your feeling like this. You know your not thinking rationally and doing something about it.

Go into your medicine cabinet, take out paracetamol, gaviscon, every day tablets you use without thinking.
Look at the side effects and rare side effects.
Every medication we have has had side effects in clinical trials but they pass them as it's such a small amount.

Vaccines are no different. As a previous poster said, while your pregnant you have a high chance from blood clots.

People need to step away from the media and think rationally. It's not good for anyone.

sylbunny · 08/04/2021 15:14

@fireflylanegirls

They can do a lot more. This is what @Bluntness100 means by you're not taking on board what people are saying. Upping your meds may help in a few weeks time but you need urgent help today. How is your husband helping you get that help? I don't think your GP understands quite how bad it's gotten for you. You need to start helping yourself and stop focusing on covid and start focusing on getting immediate help for your mental health.

I'm going to ask a difficult question now, do you feel suicidal?

bambootle · 08/04/2021 15:14

How are you financially? Can you afford a therapist who specialises in health anxiety online?

That's what you need IMO. Health anxiety is a special kind of hell. Have you been to the No More Panic website and their HA section? It's really good for advice, reading, etc.... from people who have been there.

I'm not going to talk about vaccine risk or balance of harms or any of that, because reassurance seeking is a massive part of health anxiety as you know. You'll feel better for a few hours and then back down the rabbit hole you'll go again.

I'd sell my car to pay for therapy if necessary. It's like being buried overground living with health anxiety. I'm sorry you're going through this. Recovery is entirely possible though (I am living proof). It's a lot of work though but worth it - not to live this way.

Bordois · 08/04/2021 15:17

There was an excellent post on the thread op created either yesterday or the day about health anxiety and NOT getting caught in a reassurance loop. Please read it again OP - people are taking time to actually respond and try to help you, but you need to start trying to help yourself also.

Some good advice on here op. You have the power to get better. Just take that first step and seek help

*I’ve called my GP myself today. He told me to increase my Sertraline dosage.

Did you explain that you feel unable to care for your child?

Mn753 · 08/04/2021 15:22

Are you taking hormonal contraception? It can make you really anxious

fireflylanegirls · 08/04/2021 15:26

@sylbunny

I'm going to ask a difficult question now, do you feel suicidal?

No, I don’t. Infact the opposite. I’m absolutely petrified of death 😓

I don’t want to harm myself or end my life, I just cannot control these awful thoughts.

I’m laid in bed sobbing because all I can think about is I’m going to die from a blood clot.

I honestly thought Covid anxiety was bad but this is just as bad.

My mind feels so scrambled with worry.

I keep thinking all the vaccinated people are going to die, something bad will happen to me or my baby because of the vaccine (I breastfeed)
I just cannot stop these thoughts form manifesting and I 100% believe my thoughts are true.

I feel like it’s either die of Covid or die of the vaccine. Both feel like such an awful risk.

I don’t want to die and leave my baby but it feels like it’s so imminent 😭

Are you taking hormonal contraception? It can make you really anxious
and increase your risk of blood clots......
userxx · 08/04/2021 15:28

Surely you would have had symptoms by now if anything was going to happen ? You were so desperate to get the jab, just focus on that. I think you would benefit from CBT, maybe speak to your GP.

TheOrigRights · 08/04/2021 15:30

ahh, sorry....that wasn't meant to scare or be smart; I mean if the OP has taken oral contraceptives in the past or is currently then they pose their own risk, one she made an informed decision about.

Anxiety isn't rational I guess.

@userxx

I’m having CBT. I think it’s low intensity though.
I’m going to ask for something more intense.

OP posts:
LIZS · 08/04/2021 15:31

I don’t want to die and leave my baby but it feels like it’s so imminent 😭

But having had a jab and being several weeks post first jab both would be extremely unlikely. You are more likely to die crossing the road. Have you told gp you are struggling with morbid thoughts?

I don’t take the contraceptive pill and never have.

I definitely agree you need more professional help alongside CBT and anti depressants? I have health anxiety, although for some reason the pandemic has helped me start to get over it. When I used to have panic attacks I was prescriped propranolol as well and it was really helpful. Might be worth asking for something along those lines as a short term measure as panic attacks are debilitating and horrible

bambootle · 08/04/2021 15:37

NHS therapy isn't going to cut it (I'm assuming you're in the UK). The waiting lists are long and what you are offered is extremely limited and woefully inadequate (not the NHS's fault).

Do you have savings? Bite the bullet and spend them on a therapist specialising in Health Anxiety if you do. It's an investment in you and your family - for you to get better. You need a specialist in HA though - I can't stress this enough.

VoyageInTheDark · 08/04/2021 15:43

OP I suffer from anxiety too and have struggled with health anxiety on the past. I would strongly advise you to stay away from the covid board. You are trying to find reassurance from it but there will always be another thread or post that will spark anxiety and there will never be enough anyone can say to reassure you because you are catastrophising and your brain is not listening to the facts.

@bambootle

Yes I do, but this isn’t just Health Anxiety though is it.

I’m not just worrying about an illness.

There’s a real risk of me developing a clot from
vaccine. It might be 4 in a million, but someone has to be those 4 people!
