I can’t get out of bed

fireflylanegirls · 08/04/2021 14:05

I feel like my life is over. I literally couldn’t get out of bed this morning, the way I feel is just too bad.

I spent over a year worrying about Covid, not just worrying, obsessing.
Panic attacks, sleepless nights, I couldn’t focus on my family life, couldn’t concentrate because of the worry.

I was finally vaccinated and although initially I didn’t feel any better, within a few weeks i started to feel so much happier.

Then the shit news comes about the clots from the vaccine.

I feel absolutely numb. I’ve spent the last 24hours just crying. I wish I’d never had the vaccine now.
It’s been 4 weeks and I’m such a nervous wreck.

My husband has had to drop our son at my mother in laws today because I’m in no fit state to look after him.

I’ve called my GP and have been told to increase my Sertraline to 100mg.

I absolutely hate living with this fear.

I knew this vaccine was too good to be true 😩

Have you considered seeking medical advice?

I don’t think that’s necessary

ApricotCrush · 09/04/2021 15:06

I know this won't help because so many people have tried and you are unable to accept what is said. I also have health anxiety from time to time and that tight band around your head is a symptom.

I had the AZ jab three weeks ago and I've had a headache all morning and paracetamol haven't helped, but I know it's not a clot, I've just been on my iPad too long. Hmm

I feel so sorry for your poor DH, he must be at his wit's end, and your DS must wonder what has happened to his Mummy.

I do hope you can get the help you need. Flowers

fireflylanegirls · 09/04/2021 15:19

@Pinkflipflop85

The headache you are describing sounds exactly like the headache I get whenever my sertraline dose is adjusted.
I only increased this morning. I’ve had the headache for two days.

OP to answer your post about unicorns. How many people do you know have developed a clot after AZ vaccine?
How many MN users?
None.

If you've got a headache that's lasted a month, I think it probably is, you know.

OP, regarding the cost, why not invest £120 in two sessions right now? It's going to cost you a lot more in lost work opportunities/damage to your marriage if you don't.
I would find £120 and I barely have any income thanks to Covid.

Christmasfairy2020 · 09/04/2021 15:29

If you had a p.e (blood. Clot on lung) you would struggle to breathe and be in hospital. If you have a clot in leg it will be red sore and larger than other in your calf

GoToSleepBabyPlease · 09/04/2021 15:30

Apparently, “Anyone who has symptoms four days after vaccination or more should seek prompt medical advice, a new onset of a severe or persistent headache or blurred vision, shortness of breath, chest pain, leg swelling, persistent abdominal pain or indeed unusual skin bruising or pin-point spots beyond the injection site.”

www.walesonline.co.uk/news/uk-news/symptoms-look-out-after-getting-20338554

So PP with persistent headaches... Maybe seek medical advice? My understanding is that early detection is very helpful in terms of treatment. Yes, it's probably unrelated, but better safe than sorry, surely?

Aren't the AZ-linked ones in the brain?
Moondust001 · 09/04/2021 15:36

Sorry but... of course you have a headache. You have laid in bed crying and ranting on the internet for most of that time. If I did that I would also have a headache.

I am really sorry that you have a problem with your mental health. Really I am. But sitting on the internet for day after day after day arguing with people about whether you are going to die is making it worse. Far worse. You might not be able to afford the therapist. You might not be able to control your anxiety. But you can turn off the tablet / phone, and spend some quality time having fun with your child. The one thing you can control is to choose to not feed your anxiety by spending so many hours arguing with people.

Now I am going to make a choice and not feed you any more. Regrettably there will be others that will, because they are trying to help you, trying to reason with you, or whatever. Out of the best of intentions, people are making you worse. We aren't helping you. We are enabling your anxiety.

Whatever your anxiety, your fears and worries - please put down the internet and take a seriously large amount of time away from it. Ask your husband to take everything off you. Disable wi-fi. Whatever it takes. But stop this now. It has been going on for months, and it is getting worse. I am afraid I think we are all making it worse. Social media and forums are not always good things.

The NHS website says to call 111 if you experience a headache 1-4 weeks after vaccination! 😓

I've had anxiety in the past. I won't repeat what everyone else is saying. But I will ask you to follow through both options.

Option 1: you choose to ignore these risks - or perhaps check ONCE with someone you trust, then ignore them if that person thinks you don't need health care. You try your best to apply all the calming techniques, get on with life - occasionally you have a stab of fear, but you choose to calm yourself and not take action on it. There's a very minuscule risk that you will die. There an extremely high chance that you'll carry on having a lovely life with your family.

Option 2 - you keep checking and checking. As you know, this makes you more anxious. You are strengthening the worry circuits in your brain by using them so much, just as practicing the violin would strengthen the musical circuits. Once you get reassurance on this blood clot anxiety, another worry will pop up. There is a near 100% chance your quality of life deteriorates. You are stuck in bed all day, feeling awful. It's tough on your relationship. It's tough on your child. It becomes harder to hold down a job. You don't get any fun times because you're always on edge.

Do you choose option 1 or option 2?

You can choose to fight this, choose to stop checking, stop seeking reassurance. Let your therapists help you, and the more you stop obeying these worries, the weaker they will become.

grenadines · 09/04/2021 15:43

OP - Please accept that the reason you are having these thoughts is not because you have a blood clot or are at risk of dying of covid but because you are suffering from a different health problem which is anxiety. Because these thoughts have played on your mind for a while it is hard to shake them off. However just because your anxiety has built up over a year it does not mean it will take a long time to go away. You could literally start feeling normal in a few days if you start taking small steps to resume normal life. I would start by doing physical activity every day...eg an early morning walk or run. Tell yourself that your risk of dying of covid is now miniscule as you have had a vaccine. Tell yourself that if you were going to suffer a bad effect from the vaccine it would have happened by now. tell yourself that the headache is most probably caused by the stress you are under - if you feel pain anywhere in your body and focus on it you will feel it more...whereas if you do relaxing breathing exercises you might find it passes. It is good you are having CBT. If you follow the advice from your therapist you would probably be able to feel completely normal again without needing any medication.

MMMarmite · 09/04/2021 15:44

If you think you got the criteria for calling a health professional then you can go ahead and do so. But you need to believe the outcome of of whatever they deem necessary, and not just allow it to reinforce your panic.

RoomForPud · 09/04/2021 15:46

I understand, but I’ve had health anxiety for 20 years so I’m used to my body creating weird and wonderful symptoms that feel very real. If I went to the GP each time I’d live there! I’ve also been extremely stressed and work 12 hours a day on a screen, it’s very unlikely to be serious. However, it’s mostly low level niggling and many others I know have had this for weeks after AZ too, if it becomes more severe I will certainly get it checked out.

But yours is not constant nor debilitating. By all means do so but you are unlikely to feel any more reassured for doing so. When you speak to gp mention it.
fireflylanegirls · 09/04/2021 15:52

U@LIZS

It has been pretty constant today.

A dull ache across my eyes and temples. 😥

I’m waiting for GP to call me and I will mention.

If this headache is horrendous and will not go with paracetamol I suggest you call 111 for advice There is no point in keep worrying about what it is or is not without actually doing something about it From what I have read you will be feeling pretty ill with some symptoms headache that will not go away with medication blurred vision and sickness Going around and around will solve nothing

Call 111 or go to a&e OP Not because you have a blood clot, because you don't. But because you have extremely severe anxiety and you need help now. As others have said I think you need your DH or someone tk read this thread and help you get help as I get the feeling you may not have told the crisis team exactly how things are - and that also will be your anxiety not letting you.

I have a blood clotting disorder - genuinely I do - and I have never once given a second thought to a headache. Your headache is anxiety but you DO need urgent medical help for that

I have suffered anxiety, depression and in my 30s, panic attacks.

I am sorry OP but the only non expensive way to get proper treatment is to get yourself sectioned. Ask them to do that.

This is NOT your fault. Flowers It sounds like you need quite intensive therapy but the main problem is a lot of people are experiencing this - to a lesser degree - because it's been done to them.

ApricotCrush · 09/04/2021 15:55

How? How do you know it’s not a clot??

Because there are four in a million and they have all had very bad headaches, nausea and/or blurred vision within four days of having the jab. The ones who died were all within 20 days.

AcornAutumn · 09/04/2021 15:55

PS do you know what your blood pressure is? Have you been prescribed tranquilisers or beta blockers?

I hope you are able to get help but I also agree that with the absolute best intentions that people may have on this thread it is absolutely not helping at all anymore

So why is the NHS advising that you seek medical advice if you have a headache up to 4 weeks post vaccination?
