@boys3 Do you think that means they're still identifying false positive LFTs to remove from the data? That would seem the only explanation I can think of for net reductions in cases from previous weeks. Shame, as I was just thinking what a great low figure it was!

MRex · 11/04/2021 17:21

Daft question alert - where are quarantine hotel cases logged? I spotted a blue area and it was Heathrow, made me wonder.

Frazzled2207 · 11/04/2021 17:22

damn map not working again.

EasterIssland · 11/04/2021 17:22

@MRex
Where you can arrive
If you’re required to quarantine in a quarantine hotel you can only arrive in England at certain ports of entry. Currently these are:

Heathrow Airport
Gatwick Airport
London City Airport
Birmingham Airport
Farnborough Airport
Other ports of entry may be added in the future.

MRex · 11/04/2021 17:22

Working for me, it just needs a minute to warm up?

But in Nov, Dec and Jan there weren't that many LFTs happening, were there?

Frazzled2207 · 11/04/2021 17:26

@MRex

I would have thought they would be attributed to the person's home address though if they're not British perhaps it would be the airport. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if airport workers had a reasonably high transmission rate.
EasterIssland · 11/04/2021 17:29

Just realised I’ve replied you back something you didn’t ask @MRex. Sorry!

MRex · 11/04/2021 17:31

Thanks @EasterIssland and @Frazzled2207, yes thinking about it probably it's home postcode normally, or the hotel for non-residents. Might want to be kept in mind if we see odd rises in Farnborough etc.

sirfredfredgeorge · 11/04/2021 17:31

But in Nov, Dec and Jan there weren't that many LFTs happening, were there?

Yep, loads of them, and almost all were retested as the group was healthworkers etc. 1.2million last year, 6 million in Jan vs 9 million in feb, that's registered of course, and we never know exactly how many get registered rather than ignored if negative.

boys3 · 11/04/2021 17:35

@sirfredfredgeorge there is nothing specific on the dashboard, but LFD corrections I’d hazard account for the majority. Although given a substantial number are from at least 8 was ago it looks like more housekeeping.

OP posts:
MRex · 11/04/2021 17:38

Bosses having the week off for Easter, no special updates planned - it's a fairly typical IT selected time for housekeeping rather than NHS admin than tends more to close shop around holidays. I think they've had these hanging around for a while waiting for time to deal with them.

sirfredfredgeorge · 11/04/2021 17:41

I'm not sure the few rich business jet owning folk who get their own hotels are likely to generate that many positives!

lonelyplanet · 11/04/2021 17:41

Is the headline figure on the dashboard of positives in the last 7 days, actual numbers after additions/ subtractions or date reported numbers?

Firefliess · 11/04/2021 17:47

@lonelyplanet

Is the headline figure on the dashboard of positives in the last 7 days, actual numbers after additions/ subtractions or date reported numbers?
It's a net figure. New cases reported today minus any cases reported previously that they've now decided shouldn't have been reported (eg false positive LFTs that they failed to identify with the others two days ago, or double counted cases)
sirfredfredgeorge · 11/04/2021 17:49

Just compared the LFD today with the one I downloaded on Friday, and it's LFD's removals, 300 removed from the unknown LFD's in Jan, the balance some of them becoming confirmed, looks like the matching generally wasn't happening regularly enough there.

Frazzled2207 · 11/04/2021 18:19

@MRex
Actually I don’t think there is regular testing of people coming in it has to be before they leave. Then day 2 and 10.
There is probably some testing of people leaving the country but I imagine the numbers of positives it picks up is extremely low.

MRex · 11/04/2021 18:38

Ha, fair point. Unless they have a lot of friends.
CarrotPuff · 11/04/2021 20:25

If you do LFTs as an NHS worker, then you have to log them every time. You get harassed by managers if you don't. At least in my trust.

Also, adding to discussion re vaccines and parents - I know quite a lot of parents who've already had their vaccines. Some because work in NHS/care sector, CEV and CV, unpaid carers, etc. Also they briefly added mothers who had gestational diabetes to CEV list, so some would have gotten theirs because of that. So there might be a much higher % of parents already vaccinated than you think. Some boroughs in London also started doing 45-49 back in March.

CarrotPuff · 11/04/2021 20:26

That post did have paragraphs!

boys3 · 11/04/2021 20:58

Shame, as I was just thinking what a great low figure it was!

Its still all pretty positive :)

Median rate in England for the last seven days below 20 cases per 100,000

Down to 28 councils now with a rate over 50, and just two of these over 100, and only just.

Of course if half the populations lives in those 28 areas that's not so good.

But as these pie-charts show that is not the case.

Pie charts now! You spoil us @boys3 x

PreachyGreen · 11/04/2021 21:56

Kirklees Director of Public health read MRex's post too?

Today's email:

The reasons our rate remains higher are complex, we do know that a larger proportion of our population have to leave their house to work which introduces more circumstances where people have to mix with others. We are working with businesses across Kirklees to ensure they are Covid-safe but it’s important that everyone plays their part and ensures they follow the guidance.

@cantkeepawayforever

To get more representative data: Average age of women having their first child in the UK is now around 30. So mothers of primary school children will, on average, be 34 - 41 while their first child passes through primary, and assuming a pretty typical 2 year gap between 2 or 3 children, 36/38 - 45/47 for their last child.
whilst not strictly related the ONS age graph is quite interesting.

Along with the socio-economic age bands, although with only three bands it is a bit limited.

The NS-SECs are:

1 Higher managerial and professional occupations
1.1 Large employers and higher managerial occupations
1.2 Higher professional occupations
2 Lower managerial and professional occupations
3 Intermediate occupations
4 Small employers and own-account workers
5 Lower supervisory and technical occupations
6 Semi-routine occupations
7 Routine occupations
8 Never worked and long-term unemployed
Students, occupations not stated or inadequately described, and occupations not classifiable for other reasons are categorised as ‘Not Classified’.
