When will they start vaccinations on group 10?

Admittedly, I am a little obsessed with the vaccination rollout and CAN'T wait to be vaccinated. I am 46, no underlying conditions and therefore I belong to group 10.
Given there are 32m people in groups 1-9 and we have vaccinated about 28m as of two days ago, do you think the online calculators are reliable saying I should expect to be called anytime from next week?

Please adjust my expectations with more facts!

Have you not read any news? Smile

Nothing to be booked in April for under 50s.

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 25/03/2021 09:33

We have been told that vaccine delivery will be slower in April and as people who had their 1st jabs in Dec and Jan are due their 2nd I think it might take a while longer, hopefully delivery will ramp up again soon and it wont be too long.

frozendaisy · 25/03/2021 09:33

We are same group and hoping for a Moderna do happy to wait until end of April. If they want things kept on track guesstimate:
First doses clearly:
May - group 10
June - group 11
July - group 12

user1471523870 · 25/03/2021 09:34

Thanks Badger. I thought Mr Hancock said that despite the delays there were 12m doses to be delivered from end of March. And if we are only missing 4m in the first 9 groups as of two days ago, that meant to me that those 12m doses were for group 10 and higher? Do you think they will save them for the second vaccinations?

MirandaWest · 25/03/2021 09:35

It seems to depend on where you live. I am 45 and DH 48. Neither of us have heard anything. I am assuming nothing until May and any earlier will be a bonus.

mrsknottschicken · 25/03/2021 09:45

Really hope that group 10 might start in April, but I'm assuming May too, so that I don't get disappointed again. In our area they're doing walk-in bookings for the over 50s this week.

He also said that they would be taking a couple of weeks to catch up those in groups 1 - 9 that had not had their jab. The roll out won't be sped up nationally, though some areas who have already had delivereies, might have short dates on some, will run ahead, obviously.

And then there is the EU debacle, that may or may not changes things!

daisiesinmay · 25/03/2021 09:50

I think the government has fudged the messaging and hoping that nobody will ask questions. I want to know what's happening like you OP, and properly, not just having to read stuff third hand through newspapers and not knowing what's true or not. If we're definitely not going to get one in April we should be told that, and some acknowledgement that we were given false hope about what was happening.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 25/03/2021 09:52

There’s no “definitely not”, though. It depends on uptake from groups 1 - 9 that haven’t had them yet, and second jabs being due.

There is a delay in supply, so it’s slower than expected, and that has been acknowledged - to be honest, that’s probably all you can expect from the government based on general pandemic handling!

But I do hope you all here soon. I expect it’ll vary a lot locally.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 25/03/2021 09:53

*hear. I’m not even sure if that was me or autocorrect. Clearly need more coffee Grin

I’m in group 6 and still waiting to be called. I suspect I’m even more impatient than you are. I’m starting to worry that I’ve been forgotten about.

Really?

You can't see that an ever changing supply stream - all that 'lumpy supply stuff - and an EU 'crisis' means the data changes daily. Which is why the official dates haven't changed.

You HAVE been told the dates, from podiums, on government website. That some areas get ahead doesn't changes that.

Stop reading the newspapers and you won't be constantly disappointed!

And I'm 55 and haven't had mine yet! I'll be done in the very last days of the group 9 timing.

No I haven't. Or do you mean 'end of July'?

Adirondack · 25/03/2021 10:19

I’m so desperate for my jab. I don’t trust the government to sort the supply issues out. After Easter mixing, I expect cases in schoolchildren will soar, and we will have parents in their 20s 30s and 40s being infected. They may not die in the same numbers as older folk, but a new study shows long covid dispropprtionately affects middle aged white women. Another burden for mums eh?

daisiesinmay · 25/03/2021 10:23

It's causing so much stress, for the people who've had the burden of home schooling as well. I'm really worried about the Easter holidays too. Feels like we're the guinea pigs.

This!

Not just with long Covid but also other impacts on employment and pay by having to say home when there are outbreaks at school.

I couldn't wait to get my vaccine, now I'm pregnant I can't have the vaccine and feel a bit like a sitting duck.

Group 6 have been able to book online for a month. You don’t need to wait to be contacted.

Purpletomato · 25/03/2021 10:29

DH and I are both 48, no conditions, and got the invitation text yesterday afternoon and got jabbed first thing this morning. Was resigned to waiting til May so it was a pleasant surprise. Everyone I know locally who is 48 or 49 got the text yesterday so they must have had spaces to use up and decided to open up the next couple of years. Younger Group 10s weren't called.

daisiesinmay · 25/03/2021 10:32

Was that directly through your GP Purpletomato?

Adirondack · 25/03/2021 10:33

@zzebra yes the stresses of furlough, home schooling, and running around after older relatives has pretty much broken me. I’ll be 50 next year. I’m very close to putting myself down as unpayed carer to get a jab. Yes that would be lying. But if the government hadn’t screwrd us over we would be vaccinated by now. In 12 months I’ll be considered high risk, but now I’ve just got to take my chances apoarently

I mean by whatever date the group you fall into has had published! As I said, my date is a day or so before the "by" date. I wasn't champing at the bit during the vaccination of the earlier groups. What's the point?

Or do you mean your personal date?

You'll get that when you either log online ad book or get a call from your local GP.

They are working on a week by week basis, ffs!

ThePricklySheep · 25/03/2021 10:37

You need to find out where they’re up to in your area. Here, they’re just finishing the 60+ group.

Frazzled2207 · 25/03/2021 10:37

May I think though it would appear many centres have run out of 50 somethings to do and are already onto the 40 somethings despite the leaked letter.
So I'm expecting May but many of us will be called up in April I reckon, or at least get a date by the end of that month.
