3rd wave in Europe - do you think we've done enough?

The EU are so far behind on their vaccine programme and there is a bigger anti-vax belief system there. Do you think we've done enough to avoid a third wave?

Yeah, no one is going to social distance for years. How will single people start new relationships?

Absolutely no one will comply with years of social distancing.

How will single people start new relationships? Same as they do now, presumably. Breaking lockdown rules. SOme people are immune, obviously. Or at least, they think they are.

As with everything, the circumstances will drive behaviour. The population is always on a spectrum. If we take the theatre (something I have missed a lot) - will every regular theatre attendee return at first opportunity? No. Some will be unvaccinated (e.g. allergic), some will be unvaccinated due to being too young, some will still be wary despite vaccination. Local case rates will be a factor etc.

We don't know yet whether individuals will give up all distancing, and the trends could vary greatly.

Undoubtedly the spectrum will range from 'never going near people again' to 'back to pre-covid contact', but the distribution along the spectrum is very unclear and could fluctuate.

I would be very nervous if I owned a business dependent on very close indoor contact not primarily involving young people.

No, why are borders still open? Once again the PM has set the bar for himself very low by predicting the virus will again "wash up on our shores' he doesn't seem to realise he has a lot of control over that, but talking about it as an inevitably means that he isn't blamed when actually the death rates in other countries show that this was avoidable

Borders remain open because that's the fine line being trodden between Covid and commercial collapse.

Plus there are still UK citizens across the world who want to come home, and vice versa.

Oh, and humanitarian aid, sending scientists etc out to Europe to help fix manufacturiing issues.

Sending out vaccine 'starters' and other kit; bringing the same in.

Lorry drivers, ships, planes bringing food - we arent self sufficient. Look at the supermarket sheves for country of origin!

And a whole host of other things we don't normally need to think about!

People are aware that you only get a few % more efficacy from the second dose? It's mostly about prolonging the immunity. For months. Not weeks.
