Hi everyone, has anyone here had the Oxford vaccine and felt like death warmed up afterwards? I woke at 1am after having it at 3pm yesterday, shaking uncontrollably, freezing cold but boiling hot, I ache in places I didn't know I could ache, my tummy hurts, I feel sick, my head feels like it's in a vice and my eyes are really sensitive. My arms a little niggly but I'm bed ridden literally! When I get up I feel like I'm going to fall over. It's absolutely savage, didn't expect this atall 😩

Sounds normal for some people, whichever vaccine you have.

RuthW · 13/03/2021 11:52

Hope you feel better soon.

safariboot · 13/03/2021 11:54

If it's that bad, speak to your doctor. At the very least it needs to be recorded. Some illness is normal, but being debilitated and woken from sleep is not.

VerityWibbleWobble · 13/03/2021 11:59

You should really get a Covid test. Yes people can feel a bit rough, I didn't, but if you feel that bad I'd get a test. If it's negative then report the reaction through the yellow card system.

Cornettoninja · 13/03/2021 12:00

I think 119 should be your first port of call for reassurance and they can sign post you if needed. Don’t feel like you can’t seek reassurance and assessment of when/if you might need to seek further help.

All that said, I do think that your symptoms are within the realms of normal although sound incredibly shit Brew

Frozenintime · 13/03/2021 12:00

I felt bad for 5 days afterwards and I am still struggling now with feeling too warm

willibald · 13/03/2021 12:00

Yes, totally normal, you don't need to speak to your doctor. I had mine at 10am and at 11pm was exactly like you. Was ill the way you are all the next day. Drink loads of water and take paracetamol. Mine lasted nearly 48 hours and then my arm was sore for a day or two after that.

willibald · 13/03/2021 12:01

Please don't panic! It's very common. The leaflet they gave you should warn you of what to expect and what's a red flag.

backaftera2yearbreak · 13/03/2021 12:02

I had mine on Thursday and other than a sore arm I’ve had 0 side effects. It’s very strange! Get better soon

microscopicvillain · 13/03/2021 12:04

I was exactly the same, lasted 24 hours.

EatingAllThePies · 13/03/2021 12:04

I felt rough for about 24 hours and then suddenly (literally, it was really odd) felt totally better save painful arm. The arm lasted 5 days but otherwise I was fine. I took ibuprofen/paracetamol and rested as I could see these were common side effects.

FlatteredFool · 13/03/2021 12:04

Yep, happened to lots of us. I had vomiting too just to add to the joy.

Groovee · 13/03/2021 12:05

I had the worst headache and a temperature. Had my vaccine on the Thursday. Woke up Saturday feeling fine.

minniemoocher · 13/03/2021 12:06

Me, now! Had it yesterday. Just feel exhausted. Dragged myself to Lidl but think I'm now on the sofa for the rest of the day. Every limb feels like a ton of lead

minniemoocher · 13/03/2021 12:08

The nurse who gave it to me told me to expect symptoms to start 6-8 hours later and last 24-48 hours, not to worry.

I had the Oxford AZ last Friday. I spent all of Saturday in bed with a blinding headache. Sunday morning, felt right as rain.

IdblowJonSnow · 13/03/2021 12:14

I think this is within the normal spectrum. I was very similar OP and would have been concerned had the nurse not told me to expect flu-like symptoms, which would keep you in bed.
Obviously seek medical help if you need reassurance from your GP.

Evvyjb · 13/03/2021 12:14

I felt exactly that grim 12 hours after mine. Running sweat, shivering, aching, appalling headache and brain fog. Had it on Tuesday. I have a general allergy issue but this is what my arm still looks like (plus super hot and sore and lumpy

IdblowJonSnow · 13/03/2021 12:15

Had mine on a friday. Ill all night and on the saturday. Almost back to normal by the sunday. It was intense but quick!
Hope you feel better soon.

LittleMissMoggy · 13/03/2021 12:18

This is exactly how I felt, it's all mentioned in the information sheet you should have been given when having the vaccine and is therefore not unexpected. I basically felt like I had covid. It passed after 2 days. Try not to worry x

Petitmum · 13/03/2021 12:20

I was like that for 24hrs, paracetamol, rest and lots of fluids. Hope you feel better soon.

noideawhatusernametochoose · 13/03/2021 12:21

It's normal. The younger you are, the more likely you are to have a reaction as the immune system is likely to be stronger. I've got mine booked this week (am in my fifties) and am expecting to have a reaction. My father is in his nineties and didn't have any reaction at all.

VienneseWhirligig · 13/03/2021 12:22

Yes, I had that reaction. Lasted about 48 hours although I still have s painful lump on my arm. On the whole I'm grateful though to be vaccinated.

Daisy829 · 13/03/2021 12:24

Yea I’ve heard people react to the Oxford vaccine but one of my friends also reacted when she had the Pfizer vaccine. Hope you feel well soon.
