Hi everyone, has anyone here had the Oxford vaccine and felt like death warmed up afterwards? I woke at 1am after having it at 3pm yesterday, shaking uncontrollably, freezing cold but boiling hot, I ache in places I didn't know I could ache, my tummy hurts, I feel sick, my head feels like it's in a vice and my eyes are really sensitive. My arms a little niggly but I'm bed ridden literally! When I get up I feel like I'm going to fall over. It's absolutely savage, didn't expect this atall 😩

Had mine yesterday and feel absolutely shocking 😭 didn't sleep well at all, headache, hot but cold, ache everywhere and can't lift my arm to put my hair up! Hoping by tomorrow I'll have turned a corner 🤞

Had mine Thursday evening. Woke up middle of Friday morning shaking and every part of me ached. All day Friday I had a fever, profuse sweating, then chills, aching, legs like jelly to the point I struggled to walk, feeling very sick, even felt confused.
This morning I had a temp but otherwise felt fine. By lunchtime, the temp had resolved, I’d say I feel about 95% back to normal and have just returned from a dog walk.
No need to call doctor; these are recognised side effects, even the stomach pain.
My neighbour had severe abdo pain after the AZ; GP advised that it had been a common side effect and to ride it out. He felt like he was dying for a day and then it abruptly stopped hurting.

StillGoingToWork · 13/03/2021 14:23

Having my first jab on Tuesday but people I know have had similar symptoms. I have two rostered days off after so I'll have some time to recover if needed.

Sillybillypoopoomummy · 13/03/2021 14:23

Had mine Wednesday morning. Temp etc kicked in by 9pm, now Saturday afternoon and I still feel like utter death. Still have temp of 40, can’t move from bed etc. Have to admit I was prepared for 24-48 hours but not this long...

So pleased to have read this, not that I’m happy other people are suffering, but I had the AZ on Thursday afternoon and I still feel awful. No temperature but I feel very dizzy and heavy. I’m grateful to have had it, but I didn’t except to feel quite so rough.

RickOShay · 13/03/2021 14:26

I’m 52.

SRS29 · 13/03/2021 14:33

OP I had the Oxford one at 3pm yesterday as well and so far no symptoms at all, it's so random that some people suffer more than others. Hope you start to feel better soon x

Higgeldypiggeldy35 · 13/03/2021 14:34

It maybe that you've already had covid. I think there's been some research that people who've already had covid tend to have a stronger reaction to the jab. Still good to have it though so well done. Hope you feel better soon.

Starlightstarbright1 · 13/03/2021 14:37

I was like this for 36 hours.

I went to bed temperature, aching but woke up fine.

chefcarl · 13/03/2021 14:48

Yep! me. I had vaccine at 4.30pm yesterday, woke up at 7am feeling like I had been on a major bender. Banging headache, beads of sweat on forehead, nauseous, spaced out. Still feeling rough, but will just take it easy today. So I'd recommend you just stay in bed, watch some easy telly and take paracetamol. Sleep if you can. Reassuring reading this thread that a lot of us have experienced similar. Hope everyone feels better tomorrow!

KisstheTeapot14 · 13/03/2021 14:48

Mum in her 70's says she still feels rough after about 8 weeks. She's not prone to med drama so I do believe her. She's been really fatigued and not her normal self.

She did say maybe its just old age though - and she is still glad she had it.

Most severe in the day and week after - day 2 she was dry heaving.

DH had his this morning so will await any side effects tomorrow.....if any present themselves.

bumbleymummy · 13/03/2021 14:49

You can report your reactions here:

KisstheTeapot14 · 13/03/2021 14:49

Reassuring to read people's experiences and be prepared at least. Thanks everyone.

ItsLoisSangersFault · 13/03/2021 14:54

I had mine at 5pm on Friday.

Felt really nauseous when I woke on Saturday. Slept through Saturday afternoon. Still feeling sick, rough and low on Saturday evening.

Woke up today feeling lots better. Still couldn't imagine eating but not low or tired.

You might want to skim some of the existing threads on the AZ and Pfizer vaccines:

notrub · 13/03/2021 15:05

@Dustyboots

I’m waiting to be vaccinated.

But hearing all these massive reactions am worried.

If Covid has the ability to damage organs without us realising - surely the effects of the vaccine do as well

People say that even mild Covid can lead to long Covid and organ damage.

Some of these vaccine reactions sound more than mild.

Think of it like the difference between an enemy attack and a battle-readiness test on a city.

In BOTH cases, you're going to have lots of disruption, curfews imposed, people put in shelters, daily life disrupted etc. In one case you get bombs and people dying AS WELL.

If your immune system is giving you side effects from the vaccine, it's likely you'd get similar ones from your immune system if it had encountered the virus itself. But in the latter case, the virus would also be replicating like mad, destroying cells, and damaging organs.

maddiemookins16mum · 13/03/2021 15:09

I had mine at 5.48pm yesterday. Had a mild headache within 20 mins. Have had a fuzzy headache most of this morning (bit like a hangover). Apart from that, feel fine. But still having a takeaway tonight as I can’t face cooking.

1forAll74 · 13/03/2021 15:10

I had my jab a couple of weeks ago (70 plus age) I didn't get and achey sore arm at all, about four hours after the jab, I was just watching the news on TV, and my upper body went quite shaky, like when you are feeling cold , but was in a warm room, but that lasted for just a few minutes, Decided to have an early night,as suddenly felt really tired. Woke up in the morning, and felt really fatigued and listless for a few hours. then quite back to normal for the rest of the day.

Coyoacan · 13/03/2021 15:13

I hope everyone who is having adverse symptoms are reporting them to their doctors, as all these vaccines are only under emergency approval and the collection of data on their adverse effects is all part of the process.

siblingrevelryagain · 13/03/2021 15:15

Exactly the same as you, lasted 24 hours then sore arm for day or two

simbobs · 13/03/2021 15:20

Please don't be put off having the vaccination. Most people who comment have had after effects, but millions have been vaccinated now and not all have been in any way debilitated. I had the AZ vaccine 24 hours ago have had nothing at all despite expecting to feel unwell based on things I have read here.

QueenPaw · 13/03/2021 15:24

@simbobs definitely. I was unwell for maybe 24hrs and that's it
But people (including me) take medications that also have similar side effects. My weekly injections are like the covid vaccine on steroids. I actually feel sick before doing them now as they make me feel so awful (fever, headache, severe bone pain, sweating/shivering, fainting..)

saraclara · 13/03/2021 15:27

Standard. There've been several threads about this.

I had mine at lunchtime, and by 10pm was exactly the same as you. lasted 24 hours, then I was fine. I'd say about 30% of people who had AZ have reported the same after the first jab. Pfizer people are getting their similar side effects after the second jab.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 13/03/2021 15:28

Yes I felt dreadful for about 24 hours and a bit washed out and weak for another day or too. I am relatively young (in Covid terms) female but haven’t had Covid (that I know)

Was well worth it!
