Hi everyone, has anyone here had the Oxford vaccine and felt like death warmed up afterwards? I woke at 1am after having it at 3pm yesterday, shaking uncontrollably, freezing cold but boiling hot, I ache in places I didn't know I could ache, my tummy hurts, I feel sick, my head feels like it's in a vice and my eyes are really sensitive. My arms a little niggly but I'm bed ridden literally! When I get up I feel like I'm going to fall over. It's absolutely savage, didn't expect this atall 😩

Some of these vaccine reactions sound more than mild.

I've had Covid. I was ill for weeks.

These vaccine reactions sound very mild to me.

NuclearDH · 13/03/2021 13:08

Dd is the same. Had her jab yesterday and rang me from her bed at 5am to say she thought she was having a fit. Shaking like mad, felt really cold, bad headache. She’s still sleeping now.

Caramel81 · 13/03/2021 13:10

My dad felt absolutely fine after his AZ vaccine. My next door neighbour felt like she was dying after it though and she felt awful for over a week. It’s strange how it affects people so differently

Bringmethebeer · 13/03/2021 13:12

My mum had a reaction similar to this. She said she felt better the next day though.

likeamillpond · 13/03/2021 13:17

I had my injection on Monday afternoon.
All Monday evening and the whole of the next day I had a headache and also a feeling of wanting to be sick. Plus aches in my arms and legs.
Wednesday morning Ifelt fine. As if it never happened.

PlumKetchup · 13/03/2021 13:23

I was vaccinated Monday lunchtime. Woke up early hours on Tuesday feeling feverish with a banging headache. Felt completely washed out with aching joints all day Tuesday, but was fine by Wednesday. My DH was the same.

NancyPickford · 13/03/2021 13:24

People - it’s NOT a live vaccine!

Wherediditgo · 13/03/2021 13:31

I really don’t get this.
I’ve had Covid twice and it wasn’t anywhere as bad as these side effects!! I’m so put off getting the jab when it’s offered because of this.

needadvice54321 · 13/03/2021 13:37

I felt shocking the day after my vaccine. Fluctuating temp (between 37.7 and 39c), feeling boiling then freezing, chills, aching bits that I didn't existed ShockGrin, tired but couldn't settle, headache, thirst and lots of weeing. Just felt really crap! Next day I felt off it, but able to get out of bed etc. On day 3 now and pretty much back to normal. Just feel like I haven't been very well IYSWIM? Would still rather have had that than Covid!

Classicbrunette · 13/03/2021 13:37

I just felt extremely tired with a sore arm the day after my Oxford jab. My neighbour suffered badly with aches and headache, tiredness, sickness etc.

willibald · 13/03/2021 13:38

And yet the next time you might not be so lucky, but it's your choice. My mother was only mildly ill. My father was dead in two weeks.
MNGal1987 · 13/03/2021 13:38

OP sounds like you wrote your symptoms like I would have when I had my vaccine. I felt better after 3 days.
My father also had AZ and had zero symptoms. I took comfort in thinking that a strong immune response is a good thing and my body will be ready to fight better come the second dose :)

pabloescobarselasticband · 13/03/2021 13:39

I know a few people who have been really rough after having it! It only lasts a day or two and is completely normal. I was fine, apart from an incredibly sore arm for a week.

WhateverHappenedToFayWray · 13/03/2021 13:41

Yes, I had the vaccine two days ago. I felt fine afterwards but the following day I felt awful. Aches and pains, shivering, fatigue etc
I feel so much better today.

Heronsnest · 13/03/2021 13:41

I'm beginning to wonder if I was even given the vaccine - day 3 and not a single side effect. Not even a sore arm.
Age 61, average health - consider myself very lucky having read all the other posts!

Sandsnake · 13/03/2021 13:45

Yep, DH was exactly the same with AZ. Exactly the same with your timings too. He was bedridden to the point of calling in sick when working from home. He woke up the next morning feeling fine though - hope that it’s the same for you! He’s now two weeks post jab and no other adverse reaction.

HidingFromDD · 13/03/2021 13:46

I also had mine about 3 yesterday. Woke up every time I rolled on my arm, and again when I had sweats/flushes. Still in bed and feel exhausted

SplendidSuns1000 · 13/03/2021 13:46

Have paracetamol and ibuprofen and try to rest. You're fine.

DivGirl · 13/03/2021 13:52

@NancyPickford

People - it’s NOT a live vaccine!
What’s that got to do with anything? Side effects are well documented.
littlebillie · 13/03/2021 13:53

2nd dose of phizer is supposed to make you round whereas AZ it's all in the first dose

awishes · 13/03/2021 13:58

I had everything you've had after the Oxford. I was shocked to feel that I'll!
It was like the worst flu, I've only had that 3 times in my life, this was worse.
I was not expecting to feel that bad so I know where you're coming from.
Still delighted to have had it though!

Etulosba · 13/03/2021 14:02

Bloody hell! So, I'm going to need bigger clothes too?

Unsure33 · 13/03/2021 14:05

Yes I felt shivery , shaky , and hot at same time . Very bad headache next day . Then basically ok just arm aching .

lifeinlimbo2020 · 13/03/2021 14:14
@Dustyboots, I think the important thing is the vaccine is not a live one, ie it doesn’t contain coronavirus. There is no way, therefore, for it to do what coronavirus does. It’s just something that ‘looks like it’ and trains your immune system to fight the real thing. The reaction is about your immune system mounting an assault, but not to a virus.
This this this. Get the vaccine 👍👍👍

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 13/03/2021 14:14

It's short lived fortunately, just get as much fluids in you as you can, rest and take paracetamol.

I had horrendous shakes and a temperature over 40°, I don't think I've ever had one so high! 48 hrs later and poof, all gone apart from a lag of tiredness and a bit of brain fog.
