I’m going to see if I can get my husband onto the reserve list for our local clinic next weekend, we seem to have hit a standstill here and they’re still on group 6. The local coordinator posted on the Facebook group asking people to contact her for this weekend’s reserve list but by the time I read it, four hours later, it was full.
He’s the only one of us not vaccinated (two of us are CEV and one is CV) and he’s 52 and has some hospital appointments upcoming.

NeedingCoffee · 13/03/2021 10:49

@MadisonAvenue apparently over 53s can now book on the national site and its predicted over 50s by the start of next week. So worth checking that every couple of days.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 13/03/2021 10:51

Dh is 54 and he couldn’t yesterday. I think it does depend on your area. We are in an area of high uptake and a relatively high number of older people so I think that is why.

alreadytaken · 13/03/2021 11:12

Maybe not quite good news but saw a fit, healthy American saying his covid bill for his hospital stay, largely paid by insurance, was still almost 1400$. We are so lucky to have the NHS.

Yes people moan about the NHS bit we are very lucky

Great news about breastfeeding. We had someone ask on an old good news thread

BessMarvin · 13/03/2021 11:46

That's interesting about bf. I'm hoping that also relates to getting the vaccine. It's just the fact that I'm bf that makes me a little worried about the vaccine (which being in my 40s will become a reality fairly soon).

Interesting the article only talked about newborns though. Mine is 1 and a half.

lovingmyppe · 13/03/2021 12:13

That's a great positive story, and this is definitely the place to post positive stories ( don't know what I'd do without this thread) however the above link, I'm not so sure... reading the article it appears it's a primary study based on only 18 breastfeeding women, so it's hardly groundbreaking. But still positive I suppose. Very interesting, and hopefully with time we will know more. I just urge a bit of caution for now...

lovingmyppe · 13/03/2021 12:14

I should add, I'm a vaccinator and I urging all those that can to get their vaccine, that includes pregnant women.

lovingmyppe · 13/03/2021 12:15

Ah! I mean breast feeding women

OrangeBananaFish · 13/03/2021 12:23

DH had his vaccine this morning. I was a bit worried they'd be funny with him as he was able to book due to getting carers allowance. Everything was fine though. He can't drive so I took him and waited in the car. There were a few marshalls at the entrance to the car park asking about his appointment and giving us instructions. I was only waiting about 10 mins for DH to come back after getting out of the car. He only had to wait 5 mins as I was driving. I assume when its my turn I'll have to stay for the full 15, but that is fine.

Anyway 100 more sleeps until the (hopeful) end of restrictions.

My current countdown is as follows:
16 more sleeps until 29th March - Rule of 6/2 households, outdoor sports allowed, no more stay at home (I think)
30 more sleeps until 12th April - Shops open, food can be served outside at cafes/pubs/restaurants
58 more sleeps until 17th May - Rule of 30 outside, food served inside for the same household
100 more sleeps until 21st June - End of SD restrictions.

Of course these could change if cases get worse and the NHS starts becoming overwhelmed again. Also there are other things lifted, but I'm not really certain what they are.

Most importantly 12 weeks until the return of parkrun (again hopefully)

alreadytaken · 13/03/2021 13:01

@lovingmyppe It's currently a small study but they are expanding it, so lets hope the larger study says the same. It's also not the only study - there's this, also small, one www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.05.04.20089995v1

Anyway seems like something for a breastfeeding mother to consider when deciding whether to be vaccinated.

lovingmyppe · 13/03/2021 13:03

@alreadytaken let's hope do 🤞

Welikebeingcosy · 13/03/2021 14:12

It was me who asked about breastfeeding and antibodies. Thank you for remembering - it makes me realise what a lovely space this is. I saw the news and was very pleased and knowing how close we are to more age groups getting the vaccine makes me relieved that I'll be able to stop my 21.5 month breastfeeding mission sooner.
Also very happy to see things are going to speed up. I just need something to look forward to and to have my get up and go back. I miss spending time with my DD in other places which isn't out in the cold and I'm sure the closer we are getting to April the more my mental health is improving.

Lovely article! Made me smile throughout.

howareyoumeanttochoose · 13/03/2021 15:25

I had an AstraZeneca jab this morning. I mentioned that my 3 year old still breastfeeds occasionally (mornings and bedtime) and the lovely lady doing my vaccination said that she is breastfeeding a toddler and has had both doses and that there is absolutely no evidence to think there is any reason not to but obviously time has not allowed for any long term studies.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 13/03/2021 21:14

Today’s reported cases figure of 5,534 is 8.4% down on last week (6,118) and the lowest Saturday since 19/9, despite the huge amount of testing at the moment.

Seven-day averages:

Today: 5,782
Yesterday: 5,855 (-1.2%)
A week ago: 6,118 (-5.5%)
9 Jan peak: 59,660 (-90.3%)

TJ17 · 13/03/2021 22:01

Marking my place
My 3 year old woke unwell in the night with a temperature so booked him for a test straight away this morning. Already had results back this evening! He was negative.

So grateful that we have such an efficient system! Means DH doesn't have to have any more time off work and we can still collect our takeaway Mother's Day roast from our local restaurant tomorrow

tobee · 13/03/2021 22:42

Not long until saying you've had your vaccine invite is not something so startling to share all over social media and only of interest to the person getting the invite! GrinGrin

Whatever9999 · 14/03/2021 07:21

One of the local GP surgeries posted on the local FB group that they are starting to invite the over 50s. Granted we are in the LA that has vaccinated the highest proportion of adults in the country (51% at the last count beginning of the week), but if that's not good news I don't know what is.

HereComesYourMam · 14/03/2021 07:31

Lots of over-50s (including me, DH and friends of ours) have their appointments this week and next where I live... they are whizzing through them!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/03/2021 08:02

Have we seen this?
Vaccine lowers cases in healthcare worker families
It’s more real world evidence of the vaccine having an impact on spread- vaccinating healthcare workers in Scotland has lowered cases among their families.

Autumn101 · 14/03/2021 12:01

Lots of good news, thanks all!

I have some personal good news, DH gets his first Pfizer vaccine on Tuesday (he’s not in U.K.) and his second booked in for 21 days after. Then he can travel to see us! The country he’s in have very strict quarantine so visits have been tricky. Once he’s vaccinated it makes things so much easier. We haven’t seen him for over 2 months now so knowing he could be here in 4 weeks feels amazing.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/03/2021 12:14

That’s brilliant Autumn! You must be so happy!

Mrsorganmorgan · 14/03/2021 12:44

Had my second Pfizer vaccine yesterday (over 75 South Wales) my first was 2nd Feb, so a much shorter time between shots.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/03/2021 14:31
