Do we still use Pfizer in the U.K. or are all ours AZ now?

yes we ordered 40 million. I don't think we've used up half. Right now there are more AZ going into arms than Pfizer but that is a recent switch over. Last time I saw it was 55% AZs at the moment .

However as we possibly approach using half our supply it stands to reason that the rest should be reserved for 2nd doses only.

Im volunteering in the next weeks and it’s pfizer but second doses
louisejxxx · 22/03/2021 06:29

I think from what I’ve heard most of the Pfizer is being used for 2nd doses now and AZ for 1st.

BorisJohnsonsleftnipple · 22/03/2021 07:32

The results from the US Astra zebeca phase 3 trials are in. These look very promising, and hopefully will put an end to AZ being seen as a second rate vaccine

That’s great

Also all those posts going on about FDA won’t approve it - when they hadn’t even had the data yet

So many on here who are against AZ being successful really irritating

But I’m very glad results are good

Bordois · 22/03/2021 12:26

Good news coming out of Israel too:

m.jpost.com/breaking-news/coronavirus-in-israel-285-new-cases-17-percent-of-tests-return-positive-662662

Cases still dropping despite coming out of lockdown

MissConductUS · 22/03/2021 12:41

Also all those posts going on about FDA won’t approve it - when they hadn’t even had the data yet

The FDA wasn't happy with the first phase III trial because of the manufacturing error that caused some subjects to get different doses, so they asked AZ to redo the trial in the US. That's been done and the FDA will have no problem moving forward with EUA if there are no surprises in the data.

This is also fortuitous because it proves that all of the concerns about blood clots, lower effectiveness in the over 65 cohort, etc. are completely unfounded. When the EUA is granted that should go a long way to restoring confidence in the vaccine.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 22/03/2021 13:05

My good news today is that I took DH to get his first vaccine! He was so excited and the atmosphere was brilliant.

I have a long wait for mine, but exciting that at least DH is vaccinated.

Frazzled2207 · 22/03/2021 15:29

from the Guardian...
NHS England has recorded 48 further coronavirus hospital deaths. The details are here.
A week ago today the equivalent figure was 76 deaths, and two weeks ago today it was 101 deaths.

So basically halving every fortnight. Very good news and let's hope that continues.

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2021 16:10

5342 /17

Data for today!

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2021 16:11

Hold...

Just copied from graphs thread may not be right..

MissConductUS · 22/03/2021 16:12

We had 430 deaths yesterday in the whole US. That's the lowest since last October. It was up around 3000 per day in January.

KikoMiko · 22/03/2021 16:14

It's on the .gov dashboard as 17. At this rate it won't be long before we get a weekend with a zero day.
FourTeaFallOut · 22/03/2021 16:15

17 Shock and that case rate when almost 1.9 million were tested, amazing.

MarshaBradyo · 22/03/2021 16:19

Brilliant it is 17!

So happy to see that!

yes of the 5400 cases, 1914 were LFTs in England. Many of those will be overruled by a PCR (I hope). If you ignore the LFTs the case numbers are still going down. Hopefully the fact that the LFTs are definitely picking up some cases will help the bigger picture
FourTeaFallOut · 22/03/2021 16:25

Good to know Frazzled, I like that even better.

How's this for a graph? Look at the seven day jab average...Grin

My good news is that I am 49 and had given up hope, but now have a vaccine appmt for tomorrow, quite unexpectedly. I hope you all gets yours soon. Maybe supply is better than we thought.
