@MarshaBradyo

I’d be happy to never read the word rota again 😂

Making the biggest roast and having a glass of red

I did run for 50 mins yesterday so hopefully balancing out

Just put a large chicken in the oven, supplemented by some pigs in blankets I forgot about in the bottom of the freezer Grin.

Hmm pigs in blankets! Was just talking to Dh about the weird abomination that Americans call pigs in blankets.

Oh, what is it?!
MissConductUS · 21/03/2021 17:48

It's the same cocktail sausage in a pastry instead of streaky bacon. Different, certainly, but hardly an abomination.

I was being lightheaded @MissConductUS. No offence intended.

tobee · 21/03/2021 17:50

Btw are they the same cocktail sausages? I think Americans have a more hot doggy type sausage? Or a weiner?

FourTeaFallOut · 21/03/2021 17:51

Grin It looks like a rude sausage roll Grin

TheChineseChicken · 21/03/2021 18:05

There’s a time and place for sausage rolls. And Christmas dinner ain’t it

OrangeBananaFish · 21/03/2021 18:16

That sausage thingy from America looks delicious.

So I see a thread, I know from the title that it is a real doom thread. I still bloody click it. When will I learn?

Anyway 33 deaths is a good figure. Obviously the usual that all deaths are sad for those involved etc. Shame the cases have risen a little bit, but as long as hospital admissions come down still then the actual number of cases don't really matter. We could have 100K a day getting the virus if its really mild for everyone and doesn't require hospital treatment for 99.9999999% of the cases

Cases are still down 4.4% across the week though. Considering all the doomsday scenarios mapped out by the self declared Cassandra's, I'm pleasantly surprised that we haven't even seen an upward trend yet since all the schools went back in one go on a full schedule.

OrangeBananaFish · 21/03/2021 18:30

Cases are still down 4.4% across the week though Fair point, I was comparing to last Sunday on the day basis. Didn't check the week by week rate TBH. That sounds better.

FourTeaFallOut · 21/03/2021 18:42

The way it bounces up and down like that I think we've got a bit of an equilibrium between the virus and the lockdown. Easter will be interesting. Over those two weeks, while the kids are off school, we'll have millions more people acquire stronger immunity from vaccines given weeks earlier. I wonder if that'll be enough to mitigate the 29th March relaxations and keep us hovering on that tipping point or if cases will climb?

Autumn101 · 21/03/2021 18:45

Loving the sausage picture 😂

I keep venturing onto other threads and it seems so many people are just looking for a row or on the defensive, the empathy is certainly lacking........

I think everyone is burnt out by lockdown now and although some freedom is within reach it’s getting more and more of a slog to get there!

So grateful for this lovely calm retreat

This is me in a nutshell. And the scrapping on the other threads. Blush

Pomegranatespompom · 21/03/2021 18:48

I love pigs in blankets and I wonder if the new roaring 20s will been they are included in Sunday roasts.

CoffeeWithCheese · 21/03/2021 18:51

Can I come in here - it's gone batshit out there... again, and I need some light at the end of the tunnel.

Inastatus · 21/03/2021 19:08

Amazing record number of vaccines today 😀
I don’t get the ‘we are behind Europe and are due a third wave’ narrative. Is it unreasonable to think that this time we are ahead and have already had a third wave due to the Kent variant that hit us first? Also even if it does happen then surely the impact will be so much less due to the vaccines.

TeaInTheGarden · 21/03/2021 19:43

@Inastatus agreed - it’s bizarre the “we are behind Europe” thing is being said. Wrong on so many levels!
They have rising cases due to the variant that already hit here 3 months ago. We are also already in lockdown, and have vaccinated half of our population.
We are not comparable anymore...!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 21/03/2021 19:46

You are forgetting to add that both vaccines work well against the Kent variant. Which is the one running around Europe

People are so weird 🤷‍♀️

MissConductUS · 21/03/2021 19:46

A story just broke in the Wall Street Journal that is huge good news

[[https://www.wsj.com/articles/covid-19-vaccine-manufacturing-in-u-s-races-ahead-11616328001?mod=hp_lead_pos1 Covid-19 Vaccine Manufacturing in U.S. Races Ahead -
Vaccine makers are expected to produce 132 million doses this month, nearly tripling last month’s figure, boosting vaccination drive]]

It's behind a paywall. I'll copy and paste the full text if anyone is interested. The short of it is that Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J have been able to address the most serious bottlenecks in their production processes, found clever ways to be more efficient, and started to produce some things in-house that they previously had to source elsewhere.

Total US production of approved vaccines in February was 48 million doses and we're on track to make 132 million doses in March. This is obviously going to speed up the process and get us to the point of having surplus production for export.

I suspected this was happening as New York has doubled the number of mass vaccination sites it operates in the last few weeks and the Federal government is doubling the number of pharmacies it ships vaccines to directly.

Everyone knew that production was increasing, but almost tripling in a month is bloody amazing.

I'm fully vaccinated and DH needs one more jab, but for me, this means that the DC, who are 21 and 19, won't be waiting an age for their jab.

Mn loves drama and lockdown. We’d live In lockdown if it was up to mn decision
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 21/03/2021 20:00

Great news about the American vaccines. The sooner you all get done the more they can ship else where. So it is a win win for everyone

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/03/2021 20:13

MissConductUS, that’s absolutely amazing.
Serious good news for the whole world.
