Has the lockdown ended?

Has the lockdown ended without me realising? Went for my daily walk today and many groups of up to 10 people having picnics and drinking on the green, must have been 200 people in total. Every bench was in use. Must be the nice weather!

No. We had similar in our local city park and the police arrived to disperse them. I think outdoors the risk is so low though.

icantthinkofanamehelp · 26/02/2021 16:34

Good.
People enjoying the sunshine is great for mental health after this year.
Lovely to hear

PracticingPerson · 26/02/2021 16:36

Doesn't seem much different here yet

mrurddhasabitpart · 26/02/2021 16:39

The problem is when you can't travel to excerise every one who lives there are all forced to go to the local park ? So yes on a bad weather day many people may choose not to go out at all , so it's not so busy, but then on a fine day they all will? Because they've been locked in all this time?

whatohwhattodo · 26/02/2021 16:39

Ffs I don't usually comment on these threads but this has really annoyed me. You know full well lockdown hasnt ended but it just comes across like you want to make an I'm so witty comment. It's been freezing cold and pissing down with rain for ages. Can you really blame people for wanting to get out in the fresh air and sunshine. And yes given they said only last week there is no evidence of any super spreading from the packed beaches last years that everyone moaned about I would imagine the risk is pretty low!

Any yes I do stick to the rules before you accuse me of breaking them as well!

ifitpleasesandsparkles · 26/02/2021 16:40

It brings me immense joy that people are out having picnics with friends and enjoying some sunshine. Your irritation is the icing on the cake.

ILookAtTheFloor · 26/02/2021 16:41

Zzzzzzz

Hate these kind of threads. Up there with 'hardly a lockdown, is it? / lockdown, what lockdown?' type posts.

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 26/02/2021 16:41

No, it has not ended

8th March - move to recreation as well as exercise with one other person outdoors

29th March - outdoors social contact with 2 households, or six people

So people are getting 5 weeks ahead of where we should be.

High transmission in a partly vaccinated population is a risk we could do without. But it looks as if that's what we're going to end up with

Dannn · 26/02/2021 16:45

I didn’t say in my post that it had annoyed me or that I thought people were doing anything wrong, it was actually quite nice to see. Agree that the risk of transmission outside is low. I’m probably a little jealous if anything as wouldn’t have the balls to break the rules myself.
Sorry if I’ve offended anyone with my post!

Absolutely this!

Absolutely this. If it was a nice thing for you to see, why didn't you just smile and get on with your day? What responses do you want?

Well I did smile and get on with my day, then have also posted here on a coronavirus forum for discussing topics related to coronavirus. I suppose I was wondering if other people have experienced the same? Clearly some people are very easily offended!

This I agree
Jackie2022 · 26/02/2021 16:54

Haha went into my town centre and saw loads of people sprawled out on benches etc. You’d genuinely think it was a bank holiday circa 2019! I don’t blame them though

Jackie2022 · 26/02/2021 16:55

It was like a beer garden, at least 50 people just relaxing!

LunaLoveg00d · 26/02/2021 16:57

Flocking and flouting and blatantly disregarding and mudering grannies and selfish covidiots and that's why the virus spreads and yawn yawn yawn.

These posts are like stuck fucking records ever since last March. Nobody is catching Covid from sitting in a park. Get a grip.

Topseyt · 26/02/2021 16:58

I think it is lovely to see people out enjoying the improved weather.

I'm currently sitting on a park bench in a field near my house enjoying the last of the late afternoon sunshine. Someone will probably want to shoot me for that but I don't care.

MoirasRoses · 26/02/2021 16:59

I bumped into two good friends in the park today, completely unintentionally, we just all saw it was a sunny day & headed to the local park at 10am! It was blooming lovely to watch the 3 kids running around together (they’ve grown up together and we’re delighted to see each other after a few months!) & we all stood and had a lovely catch up for an hour! I feel semi normal today, I cannot say how much it lifted my spirits!

Park was busy, several groups of friends meeting with young kids. It’s fine, outdoor transmission is so so low, I long lost my concern about it!

Wtf are people doing sitting out? It's cold!

whatohwhattodo · 26/02/2021 17:05

Cant work out if you posted this as a goody post OP just to set off an explosion of comments you can sit back and laugh at or it didn't go quite as you hoped and you are backtracking.....definitely don't buy the explanation!

IcedPurple · 26/02/2021 17:07

Yawn. These threads have been going on for almost a year now.

Why didn't you just enjoy your walk instead of counting how many people are sitting on benches? I'm glad they were relaxing and enjoying themselves. Shame you couldn't do th same.

itsgettingwierd · 26/02/2021 17:13

I'm outside everyday for 2 hours minimum. Have been since this started!

Playground duty can be a bore in the cold, wind and rain.

Actually enjoyed it this week!

I can't decide if I'm annoyed at people breaking the rules or just jealous my outside time isn't say relaxing but watching and working 🤣🤷‍♀️
