And go from 2.2 million to 3.9 million.

Breaking news...

Surely this is simply to make sure the most vulnerable of the next set is vaccinated as quickly as possible. It also reduces hospital admissions and the need for treatment. Personally I'm quite happy because I think i might get my vaccine sooner. I'm the only person in my family not to be vaccinated so far and with the children going back to school soon I'd happily have a vaccine.

Toorapid · 16/02/2021 16:16

How does that work alongside full reopening of schools, if double the number of staff have to shield?

unchienandalusia · 16/02/2021 16:19

I come up as 38? I'm 47. Female. No underlying conditions. Is it my age? Bmi is 25?

Quit4me · 16/02/2021 16:22

@EasterIssland where did you get this info please?

sorry which one?

Juo · 16/02/2021 16:24

@WwMILd

Shielding has been extended until 31 March now.

here, right at the bottom

Bugger. I was counting the days.
PatriciaValiant · 16/02/2021 16:25

I got 26 and am a 41 yr old female. At first I didn't put my postcode in so it generated one based on a high deprivation area I think and gave me a score of 30. When I put my actual postcode in it was lowered.

Blondiney · 16/02/2021 16:25

Mine score was 41. Hmm

Female
Age 46
BMI 20
Asthma
Have broken a wrist (35 years ago!)

Crakeandoryx · 16/02/2021 16:27

I can't access the calculator.

CeeJay81 · 16/02/2021 16:27

I tried putting in a different area postcode which is more deprived than mine and it gave me an extra 8 points. So if your wondering why you've got more points, could be your postcode.

Am 38 and with no other risk factors (BMI also 20), the fact I broke my wrist when I was 7 means my score us 32!! Confused How does that increase my risk?!
Juo · 16/02/2021 16:34

I scored 72. Sad

Blondiney · 16/02/2021 16:34

Yeah, the broken wrist thing is weird as hell. WTF does that increase our risk, has it left a weakness in our immunity somehow?

I also fractured my femur as a kid but they don't seem arsed about broken legs...so odd.

cottonwoolbrain · 16/02/2021 16:36

Score 51. Mid 40s but have epilepsy which has probably put my score up a bit. bmi of 28.5 probably does not help either though I've lost 19 kilos since August so my score is lower than it would have been.

I think epilepsy put me in group 6 but when I emailed the GP to check they told me I wasn't so now I'm a bit confused. All the guidance seems to suggest I should be but my GP is saying otherwise Confused

Could be. My postcode is considered an 'affluent' area BUT there's a ton of care homes so the death rate is skewed higher.

Might try it with a different postcode.

Rockbird · 16/02/2021 16:38

I scored 78. Shit. That's high. I'm in group 6 already so hoping it won't be too long before I'm called but that's really worrying.

Jgdgjbdssvuuuuu · 16/02/2021 16:38

I’m not having the vaccination so it doesn’t effect me personally.

However...

On here, many people have been told that they should refuse treatment from the NHS if they refuse to get the jab as “it’s the choice you made”

Yet am I reading this right?, that overweight people are just about to be able to push to the front of the vaccine queue?

Will absolutely guarantee there’s a morbidly obese person out there that’s spent the last year spouting on, that other people are selfish, should be denied treatment etc. Who is just about to push someone who has treated their body as a temple to the back of the queue. With zero shame either.

pinkearedcow · 16/02/2021 16:39

Mine is 57 - I have none of the listed health conditions and a healthy BMI. I am in my 50s.

DHs is 77 (he is disabled because of one of the health conditions listed). He is also 50s and a healthy BMI

Similar to my DH who is in group 6 and scores 77. He got his appointment letter today.
PrincessNutNuts · 16/02/2021 16:42

@SharedLife

Is this them moving to "Shield the vulnerable and let the rest of us get on with it" that those that are anti-lockdown promote?
I'm worried that it is.

Certain types do seem to think that if you vaccinate/shut away 33 million people then covid is to all intents and purposes "over" and "the rest of us can go back to normal"

But of course that's not true.

Covid's not over until we make it be over.

If we don't do enough now, then it will just rumble on for another year at least.

Vaccines help. But they won't stop it on their own, particularly as we seem in tent on mixing up the unvaccinated the partially vaccinated and the fully vaccinated ASAP to give the virus plenty of goes to get round them.

Devlesko · 16/02/2021 16:43

These were all in the priority group anyway.

Dogatetheleftovers · 16/02/2021 16:43

If you’re on shielding list but have had first vaccine, do you still have to shield? My dm will ask this, I’m sure.

PrincessNutNuts · 16/02/2021 16:43

@AnneLovesGilbert

Why on Earth didn’t they mention this yesterday at the non-event that was the press conference?
Jenny Harries has been working on it for at least six months. No rush love, eh?
Hmmph · 16/02/2021 16:44

DH and I are in our 40s. I got 25 and he got 56. Always assumed I was more at risk as I have asthma, but it would appear his childhood broken wrist beats that!

My Mum comes out as 91, but we know she’s CEV (and has already had first vaccination).

listsandbudgets · 16/02/2021 16:45

Postcode definately makes a difference. I just tried exactly the same information with my own postcode and then my mothers and discovered I'd be 10 points safer living with her Grin
