Out of curiosity, how many people do you actually know had COVID or sadly died with it?

So in our company of about 1000 employees, 40 people (including their immediate family) have had COVID and recovered.

OP posts:
pontiouspilates · 13/02/2021 19:13

Around 25 people that I know directly and many, many more who are family of friends etc. Including 4 deaths.

Samcartys · 13/02/2021 19:15

None directly. Luckily nobody in my family, circle of friends or colleagues I work with and speak to have had it (knowingly of course). I live west mids.

BrownFootStool · 13/02/2021 19:16

8 ish, no deaths or hospitalisations

ChristmasinJune · 13/02/2021 19:17

Probably 50+ I've lost count, all since October.
One person was in hospital but is fine now. Everybody else had a mild-moderate virus and is completely fine again now.

nellyburt · 13/02/2021 19:19

I know lots who have tested positive. Over 50. A handful have been seriously ill. I also know

One 40 year old who sadly passed away

One 62 year old who sadly passed away

A 50 year old who sadly passed away

WalkingOnStarshine · 13/02/2021 19:19

1 person, as of this week!

Supersimkin2 · 13/02/2021 19:20
  1. No one died, even the 92 yr old.
LindainLockdown · 13/02/2021 19:21

Around 10 and 1 death sadly.

It’s sobering realising quite how closeted I’ve been in my comfortable middle class wfh bubble, along with most of my family and friends. I know only two friends who tested positive last year, both doctors in their thirties and both recovered easily. One work colleague has found out that she had it but didn’t know at the time. Touch wood I know no one who has died. Hearing people who know so many is a reminder of how it has ripped through some sections of society and just how privileged I am Sad

This really is polarising society more than ever isn’t it?

Changemaname1 · 13/02/2021 19:22

3 and they are relations of friends / work colleagues

1 Last year , hospitalised , doing well now thankfully
1 quite ill with it but not enough for hospital more that it took weeks for then to feel better again

1 who just felt like had a bad cold

zafferana · 13/02/2021 19:22

I know a few people who THINK they had it in March/April 2020, but were unable to get a test:

2 neighbours - he got it at work
Friend and her DS - got it when DS was in hospital for something else
A bloke I was at uni with
DH of friend
Friend of DH

And a couple who got it at Christmas after meeting up with family. Of the gathering of 11, seven ended up with Covid after being inside together with the windows open for less than half an hour.

zafferana · 13/02/2021 19:23

All recovered - no deaths and no long Covid

GintyMcGinty · 13/02/2021 19:23

I don't know anyone who has had it.

DoctorYang · 13/02/2021 19:23

I've known 11 people to get, 2 of which have died.

onetwothreeadventure · 13/02/2021 19:24

14 plus their families. 3 died, they were over 60 but were in good health otherwise. Two in their 30s have had a long recovery and both were hospitalised at the time.

Neenan · 13/02/2021 19:27

12, all unrelated infections.

Least affected, me and DH.

Worst, DF who died from it, two weeks before we caught it.

DoctorYang · 13/02/2021 19:28

My 83-year-old FIL who has cancer and many other health conditions, caught it and only had it very mildly (not vaccinated).

Fluffy40 · 13/02/2021 19:29

5 that died, at least 10 had it and recovered.

DH and I had it recently. One of DHs friends and 2dc. 9 cases in DS nursery and a few in DD school. Few friends of friends or work colleagues.
All mild cases except one work colleague who retired due to long covid.

Opia90 · 13/02/2021 19:31

None.

LadyCatStark · 13/02/2021 19:32

4 that I actually know. All mild and recovered well, except one still has loss of smell.

TheoriginalLEM · 13/02/2021 19:33

Myself, DP, Dd2
12 out of 26 work colleagues and a number of family members - one has long covid with serious cardiac complications
Friend's MIL - died
Friend's mum
My friend and her dd
Friend
Dp's friends mum and brother - died within two weeks of each other.

Those are just the people i know about who had symptoms

crispychicken12 · 13/02/2021 19:34

4 people that are close to me.

Lindy2 · 13/02/2021 19:35

About 50 I think.

5 have needed hospital treatment but have recovered, although 1 has some pretty severe health problems now.

2 have died.

My DH and I are just recovering from it. DH is a keyworker and despite very stringent precautions whilst at work he still caught the virus. We didn't need hospital treatment but it has been an absolutely hideous illness that really wiped me and DH out for about 3 weeks. Thankfully we are recovering well now.
