Out of curiosity, how many people do you actually know had COVID or sadly died with it?

So in our company of about 1000 employees, 40 people (including their immediate family) have had COVID and recovered.

I know many who have had it I’ve lost count but closest are both sisters one recovered after two weeks the eldest still suffering from it months later both key workers in different roles.
One friends husband recovered two weeks later and another friends husband who died.
A friend about two weeks to recover another keyworker.

-dh

  • at least ten colleagues (primary school)
  • 2 children at school who I know (most didn’t test and there are others who I’m not aware of identify so don’t know if I’ve previously taught them or not)
  • 2 mum friends
  • 5 family friends (one hospitalised for 3 weeks - healthy previously in fifties)
  • 1 neighbour (sadly died)

20 people - 4 died. All the ones that died were quite elderly.

DuckonaBike · 13/02/2021 18:38

At least a few dozen I know of, including myself, DH and DC. We live in a small street with 33 houses and someone told me 7 households in the street had had it (not caught from each other!)

Two friends in their 40s had long Covid (largely recovered after 8 months) and a friend of MIL’s died of it. A colleague lost both her parents to it, which is very sad.

It’ll depend where in the country you live and what you do for a living. What’s the purpose of this, @BolloxtoGender? Are you trying to suggest it’s a ‘plandemic’? 🤔
Loads of people have had it. The patterns of infection are geographical and employment related.

Personally, twelve. One died.

In my wider workplace, about forty

bathsh3ba · 13/02/2021 18:43

4 people in total, 3 mildly, 1 died in care home (was 89 and had dementia, death was imminent before he caught Covid).

RedcurrantPuff · 13/02/2021 18:46

2, both mild including a morbidly obese relative in his 70s with lots of health issues

ittakes2 · 13/02/2021 18:50

We sadly have known 5 people who have died. One in his 50s. We currently know over 25 who have tested positive and are isolating this week. In total we know over 50 people who have had it.

doireallyneedaname · 13/02/2021 18:51

I know 13 that have had it, 1 died.

InvincibleInvisibility · 13/02/2021 18:57

People that I personally know - more than 20. 2 deaths.

Then there's at least 20 others that I know of.

ifitpleasesandsparkles · 13/02/2021 18:59

None

Blue5238 · 13/02/2021 19:00

About 35. No deaths or hospitalisations. Ages 6 - 51

LarsErickssong · 13/02/2021 19:02

I know about 20-30 who have had positives, 5-10 who thought they had it early on and know 3 people who have died.

snowblower · 13/02/2021 19:04

None & my Immediate family and close friends dont know anyone that's had it either. I hope it remains so.

Professionalplayingcards · 13/02/2021 19:04

Hardly any, I live rurally. I still believe it exists 100% though and am acting accordingly.

Purplecatshopaholic · 13/02/2021 19:06

Of people I actually know well, rather than social media friends, or friends of friends.. Two friends kids got it - all fine, thankfully. Two friends currently have it - one severely. One friend has long Covid and is very ill. Two friends have lost parents to it. So far..

Crazycatlady83 · 13/02/2021 19:06

2, one in their late 20s who got it mildly. 1 who was a care worker in a care home, 50s and who died 2 weeks ago.

Shitzngiggles · 13/02/2021 19:10

Dozens. Both my sisters and their families. My mum. Several cousins and their families. A few neighbours and other acquaintances. A few Facebook friends. Know of 5 that died.

TokyoSushi · 13/02/2021 19:11

Around 15, two unfortunately died but not directly known to me.

Crackerofdoom · 13/02/2021 19:12

Probably around 20. 2 died (older), 1 ended up in hospital on oxygen (sporty, non-smoking 28 year old man with no underlying conditions). He is only just going back to work, 5 months after leaving hospital.

Then probably a dozen with symptoms ranging from in bed for a few days to no symptoms.

BallsToYouSue · 13/02/2021 19:13

I know two people who have had it and barely a symptom (both women, doctors, in their 30s). I know one older, but not very old man who had it and sadly died. One woman in her forties who thinks she had it and said it was dreadful, but didn't need to go to hospital or anything.

There have been two cases in DC's bubble last year, but I don't know who it was who had it.

So, in total, that's 6!
