Regret having vaccine

Zem74 · 09/02/2021 08:35

Had my vaccine last week, govt classes me as CEV, consultant however said no need to shield as moderate risk, thought I’d be put in group 6 for vaccine rollout.
Got put in with group 4 and was unsure whether to have it or not, but after persuasion from family I did, now I feel full of regret like I’ve made a terrible mistake
I’ll get shot down on here for saying this, but I’ve since read things on social media and the internet that’s making me really panic about how safe this vaccine is/ whether it’s part of a sinister plan etc and I feel so scared that I’ve voluntarily just got myself jabbed with it without thinking it through enoughSad
I’m a mother to young children and these worries are keeping me awake at night since Sad

Waxonwaxoff0 · 09/02/2021 08:37

You think people on social media have more knowledge on these matters than qualified scientists?

mumsneedwine · 09/02/2021 08:38

Don't listen to social media. Listen to doctors and scientists. The jab is safe. It is brilliant and you are very lucky to have one. Scientists are awesome. Some of those idiots saying it's not safe probably use cosmetics they have no idea how they are tested. Did you know Botox is a rat poison ? And yet people stick it in their bodies.
The jab is safe. Be happy

Hoppinggreen · 09/02/2021 08:38

THE VACCINE IS SAFE
There you go, you read it on the internet.

Get some help for your anxiety.

Onesipmore · 09/02/2021 08:38

Of course you haven't made a mistake. Step away from Google and the anti vaxxers and the conspiracy theories. The vaccine is about the only thing the Govt have got right during Covid. You haven't made a mistake, you have taken something that will ultimately protect you. Count yourselves lucky. People in other parts of Europe are jealous of how quickly and effectively we have rolled out the vaccine.

Nellodee · 09/02/2021 08:38

You ARE at huge risk....

.... from reading crap on social media and being gullible. Get a grip.

Borogroves · 09/02/2021 08:38

Do not get your news and information from social media! You are very fortunate to have had the jab and to now be protected. Do not give conspiracy theories headspace and believe in the scientists. If it gets you this worried maybe you should have a break from social media.

user1477249785 · 09/02/2021 08:39

OP I'm really sorry you feel this way. But this is 100% your anxiety speaking. There is no rationale evidence behind your concerns. I know that doesn't make the thoughts any less intrusive but perhaps it would help to acknowledge them as such?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 09/02/2021 08:39

The vaccine works.
The only thing that might be part of a sinister plan is the antivax bollocks you have been reading on the internet.

Mrgrinch · 09/02/2021 08:41

Stop reading anything about covid on social media. Good or bad, most of it is fake news.

justanotherneighinparadise · 09/02/2021 08:41

Honestly OP. The conspiracy theorists are mentally unstable people who thrive on frightening others. Get off the platform they proliferate on and start talking to sensible people.

LaurieFairyCake · 09/02/2021 08:41

Try watching the Netflix Documentary The Social Dilemma

It says very simply that what you look for you find, that YouTube/Facebook/all other sites just confirm what you initially searched for and sends you MORE of the same.

The vaccine is very obviously safe Thanks

Do not read anti vax stuff - it's written by evil people with an agenda - some of them will be anti the elderly and people with disabilities SadAngry - literally they want you dead.

DumpedWife · 09/02/2021 08:42

Social media is mostly poisonous bullshit.

Step away and distracted yourself with other stuff.

TanginaBarrons · 09/02/2021 08:42

You are very lucky. Count your blessings.

Do you usually panic so much? Do you have an anxiety disorder? If you do perhaps you need more support? In any case, taking info. from social media and the internet as fact is not a good idea. Try and find better sources for your information. Millions of people around the world have now had the vaccines. It appears they are safe and on balance it sounds like you would be much more at risk of having Covid with complications.

I can't wait to have any of the vaccines (and I heavily research vaccines - peer reviewed evidence etc. - for both my children and for me as we have a complicated medical history).

A sinister plan?

Really? Or are you just trying to make people question fear that they will regret their decision too?

What are you expecting to get from posting this?

user1493413286 · 09/02/2021 08:45

Honestly the government have made such a continuous mess I don’t think they’d be capable of a sinister plan. I’ve had the vaccine (I’m in my 30s with DC) and I feel relieved that I’m less likely to get seriously ill and leave my DC without me either permanently or for weeks while in hospital

Dinocan · 09/02/2021 08:45

As a fellow mother to young children I can tell you that you will regret getting covid even more. We’ve just had it in our house and it’s been the worst week of illness we’ve ever had. Luckily I’ve been able to care for the kids and rest of the family but my very fit and young dh is not completely out of the woods yet nearly 3 weeks later, oxygen stats still pretty shit. I don’t know if you have a partner, but had dh been a single parent I don’t know what he would have done as there is no way that he could have cared for the children. There really is no way of knowing how poorly it can make you. You’ve done the right thing for you and your children.

MakeWorkYourNewFavourite · 09/02/2021 08:46

I can understand that you feel worried and it must be very stressful for you.
Please try to take the time to look into some reliable and reputable news sources. This is a very safe vaccine, but don't take it from me. I'm just a woman on the Internet! Look at The New York Times, The Washington Post, BBC, The Economist, Sky News. These organisations have signed an ethical code of conduct. They are fact-checked. If the journalists lie or misinform or exaggerate, they get sacked.
The vaccine IS safe. It might not be as effective as we hoped, but there are no trackers, there's no sinister plan behind it.
Facebook isn't reliable. Check your sources.
I hope you're able to find some peace. Don't worry.

I’ll get shot down on here for saying this

You mean, you'll read some sensible stuff on the internet instead of ignorant, massively irresponsible crap? Well, posting here (mostly a bunch of sensible mothers) was a wise move relative to whatever else you've been reading.

You're very fortunate to have some protection against this awful virus now. Think how bad you'd feel if you'd refused it, got ill and had long covid? But you took the medical advice, now you don't need to worry about that.

Have aBrew and enjoy the day.

Googlebrained · 09/02/2021 08:48

Sorry but you're being ridiculous. Get off Facebook and Twitter. It is not part of a sinister plan to control us. It is part of a global plan to rid us of a hideous disease.

You have done the right thing to keep you safe for your children. If you are still feeling like this after a few days I recommend you get in touch with your GP as your anxiety seems pretty high. It may help you to talk it through with them or even have some CBT.

Bluntness100 · 09/02/2021 08:49

Have you not read on the internet and social media how it’s safe too?

Are you only focusing on the conspiracy theories? From people who in real life have no qualications or ability to pronounce on the vaccine? Do you not read views from the scientific community?

I think it would be good for your mental health to enlarge your reading material.

Okokokbear · 09/02/2021 08:50

The vaccine is safe. You need to learn to assess sources of information. I don't mean that to sound rude. But a peer reviewed study isn't the same as what trev says on Facebook.

I had the vaccine yesterday. I'm thrilled and I'm absolutely fine. My arm is achey a bit but it's been worse. Like the pneumonia jab now that hurt. And one year I had to take 2 days off work after my flu jab. So this is all good in comparison.
