Covid deniers are scumbags

I was reading a thread here on mumsnet that made me cry so much and it hammered home just how serious the virus is. Young people seriously sick in hospital and dying. It's bad at any age and I lost a second cousin before her time due to covid but its particularly bad when it's hitting younger people.

The virus never came directly to my door but I know it's real. I am hating the restrictions and the lockdown so much but I'm following the public health rules all the same but I am finding it hard but I don't intentions of breaking the rules.

People who play this virus down as if it's nothing - covid deniers - they are scumbags. I know the virus can be mild for some people but it's not for everyone.

It'll never be over the long term effect will cause untold damage But mental health services have been a disaster for at least 10 years, for example Northern Ireland has one of the highest suicide rates it has noted pre pandemic now every suicide in NI is down to covid lockdown isn't helping it is not the cause.
Young people are losing out of vital education yet it's important to keep people safe there is no right answer.

Not denying it. But I work for the NHS and feel it's my responsibility to me ruin that many death certificates have been altered to state Covid when actually the deceased died of something unrelated / underlying illness.

The hospital I work in; a consultant received a telephone call from a coroner asking that the reason of death be changed to Covid. Consultant refused as the lady had died of something else altogether.

Whilst I am not denying Covid, the above example is one of many you probably won't hear about in mainstream media.

Mention* aargh!
m0therofdragons · 08/02/2021 08:34

Er but the coroner’s actual job is to establish reason for death, sometimes after a full autopsy, so of course has the ability to make that call... it’s their job! There are death certificates that say cause of death covid and others that will say cause of death organ failure WITH covid. Covid can cause so many different issues including organ failure that wouldn’t have happened without covid.

Doctors make a call on death then the coroner will look at the autopsy report and all the evidence and write a report. This is literally their job; their area of expertise.

This can't be true.
My DM died of Covid19 she was fat and had hyperventilation obesity her death certificate stated hyperventilation obesity & Covid19 she is 14 stone.
The likelihood of her still being alive is very high if she hadn't of caught Covid19.

m0therofdragons · 08/02/2021 08:47

@Emeraldshamrock yep the previous poster says she works in the nhs. I’m assuming she’s low level or non clinical and completely misunderstood what actually happened. Clinicians do sometimes disagree re cause of death so that would be normal but coroner would have all post death and pre death evidence to make the call.

m0therofdragons · 08/02/2021 08:47

@Emeraldshamrock I’m sorry for your loss and sorry I got carried away posting that this wasn’t the first thing I said to you.

Emeraldshamrock · 08/02/2021 08:50

It is dangerous talk from an NHS worker to suggest coroner's are in a cahoot with consultant's to bumper up the deaths.

Emeraldshamrock · 08/02/2021 08:51

@m0therofdragons Not at all. Thank you Flowers

It wasn't a suggestion, just an observation that unlikely will be mentioned in the mainstream because, as evidenced here, it will be taken the wrong way.

And I made clear I'm not denying Covid exists, not at all.

Another example; a patient presented with 'temperature and cough' - diagnosis was 'probable Covid'. Again in the middle of a pandemic it is most likely patient did have Covid, but diagnosis was not concrete.

Seriouslymole · 08/02/2021 09:45

@BoKatan

I'm not a Covid denier. I know people who have died / been left with long Covid who were previously fit and well.

I'm not anti lockdown. I get that it's the only way.

Buuuuuut, I'm seriously fed up with the attitude on here from a set of posters who seem to tarnish anyone who raises concerns about the effects of lockdown as "granny killers" and "Covid deniers."

Lockdown is killing people. There's no getting away from that. It will continue to kill people long after Covid has just become another endemic cold because of the damage done to the economy and missed diagnosis.

But apparently the world is black and white now so we're not allowed to talk about it Hmm

Could not agree more. Well said.

I'm not sure when the world became so black and white. You are no longer allowed to question whether a man can become a woman because that makes you transphobic. You can't suggest that historical figures had good points as well as bad because that makes you racist and you can't query the effects of lockdown because that makes you a Covid-denier and therefore a mass-murderer.

When did we so happily give up our free speech?

This is undoubtedly happening. I know of two people who lost parents in care homes and were told that unless they agreed to put the deaths down as Covid deaths their deceased relatives would have to undergo post-mortems. Both decided to go with the easier option and record the deaths as Covid. It's not likely they were.
VikingVolva · 08/02/2021 09:49

We haven't given up these things, you an still do all of those things (prided that you do not use terms which fit the definitions of hate speech)

But you can't insist every platform must host you, nor can you control what reaction you get.

I'm very wary of that statement. Why didn't the relatives go to the newspaper? Or take the post-mortem?
If this is the case they could be bumping numbers for compensation though it is highly unlikely.
Every seems to have one of these friends though yet no-one heads to a reporter? Strange.

I imagine because of fears they'll be apprehended by people like you. 'Prove it'.

Why would someone who is having to deal with the loss of a loved one, and potentially the devastating effects of 1) not being able to say goodbye in person, 2) not being able to have a proper funeral, 3) the confusion over 'was it Covid or wasn't it', then decide to go to the papers?

Most people who lose loved ones just want to grieve in peace. They aren't thinking about anything else.

I lost an elderly relative a couple of years ago. We knew it was coming. But even then, I could not make sense of anything for a good few weeks, it was like I had cotton wool in my head. I can't imagine what those who have lost loved ones during this pandemic have been through.

Emeraldshamrock · 08/02/2021 11:07

Well a statement should be backed up with facts couldn't they ask the care home or coroner to put it in writing.
The cheek of you people like me I lost my mother she was 69.
I have a right to question made up statements if they are encouraging people to believe it is all propaganda.
Who the heck would allow a care home or coroner knowing lie on their families death cert. Angry

Emeraldshamrock · 08/02/2021 11:08

@altlife Load of bullshit.

m0therofdragons · 08/02/2021 11:12

But if they had positive covid test then that’s all they can go on without a post Mortem. They are not mind readers! Death certificates are being completed in the same way they always have been. I love the doctors I work with but if you think they would all blindly go along with making up cause of death on certificates because the government told them to then you are very wrong. They would be up in arms and demanding their professional body put the government in their place. Stop doing our doctors a disservice.

We would having a post mortem be classed as a bad thing and why wouldnt a family like to know the true reason for death? I also find it strange , everyone seems to know a friend who deals with a lot but just not general knowledge, persons obsession with somehow things r being covered up is so fustrating, people should look into why people look into conspiracy theories during a pandemic and why there is sharp increase in them being thought
Duggeehugs82 · 08/02/2021 11:20

*why would

Duggeehugs82 · 08/02/2021 11:22

I could write im a nurse and ive seen dealths being classed as covid when i know it wasnt in the hospital i work at, and literally no one would have any idea that was i really a nurse, these forms are so dangerous for spending misinformation or disinformation

altlife · 08/02/2021 11:46

Not trying to spread information and genuinely not denying Covid. Just having a discussion and had one or two thoughts. If I've offended anyone at all I apologise. This pandemic is hard enough.

Emeraldshamrock · 08/02/2021 11:58

@altlife It is okay though unless you've had the experience personally you don't know if it is true.
As I said I've heard of many peoples friend of a friend it has happened too but seen no facts or heard any personal experience.
I can't see all these professionals with a duty of care lying or emotionally blackmailing families this way it is not realistic.

The problem with the thoughts u had was u didnt explicitly state u was in room with consultant when they were having the conversation , u also said its happened many time , unless u r the one doing it how would u even know and the fact u mention that mainstream media is just happening to ignore it. U might NOT be meaning to spread information/disinformation but ur definitely doing it. I do cringe when i read someone talking about how mainstream media is ignoring xyz , clearly shows they r of the conspiracy lean.
