Some sort of protests apparently in Newport yesterday?
Hope that doesn’t create a rise in Covid cases in a few weeks.

@ImAllOut

Maybe it's an error like the man who they thought was 6cm Grin

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 18/02/2021 19:48

Initially I wondered if they'd had a teeny syringe made specially for him. Then I read that they had recorded his weight correctly, so dimension-wise he would have been more like a bit pancake. Which is even better.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 18/02/2021 19:48

*big.

Jellykat · 18/02/2021 19:56

I laughed so much yesterday when i heard the guy on radio 4.. Imagined him like a 6.2 cm tall sausage, a veeeery long sausage given his weight. Grin

HauntedPencil · 18/02/2021 20:06

Oh I loved that story, he had a BMI of 28000 Grin

Both BBC and Sky reporting this morning that lockdown will continue for another 3 weeks. BBC reports that the rest of primary schools will return by March 15th and Sky says FIrst Minister is looking at all pupils from March 15th.

FM is also looking at the opening of non essential retail and services such as hairdressers in the next 3 week review. Plus a possibility of Easter tourism.

How can we have Easter tourism if all pupils are not back in school?

None of this is a surprise really but I am hoping he will mention 5 mile exercise rule or something. I can see the beach from my house but as I have to drive to get there, I don't go. Plenty do but my neighbour was warned by the police and was told to exercise elsewhere on the flat.

Thanks Sanity. I am rubbish at doing links.

tinytemper66 · 19/02/2021 07:12

Kirsty stealing Mark's thunder again re schools! I have been shown how to link so here goes:

ImAllOut · 19/02/2021 07:47

It'll be interesting to see how they justify these decisions given the falling case rates and increased vaccinations.

Haywire · 19/02/2021 08:32

Good news for rest of Primary but agree pretty hard to justify tourism open before secondary schools!

Will have to see what else he says at lunchtime, they usually trail most of it in morning news but keep a little something back for the announcement.

justasking111 · 19/02/2021 08:43

My grandchildren are in wellies and slippers , shoes too tight. Hope they are lax on uniform rules when they go back. They've known for over a week the little ones were going back, schools messaged all parents with the timetable, so drakeford has sod all to announce today.

Doilooklikeatourist · 19/02/2021 08:46

I agree @Haywire , that schools going back should be the priority ( and I work in tourism and don’t have school age children any more )

I don’t understand why at least some secondary school pupils aren’t going back now , IMHO 15 years old and up education is far more important than a 3 year old

I was hoping we’d be able to travel to exercise, I’m tired of my country walk and want to see the sea ( will swap if anyone is bored of the sea and wants rolling hills and sheep )

Roll on 12-15 and the announcement

ImAllOut · 19/02/2021 09:03

Wales Online reporting four people can meet outside? If we can't drive to meet them though there's really no point for a lot of us! Really hope they're changing it to 5 miles.

ImAllOut · 19/02/2021 09:07

Never mind, here's the link and looks like it's still from your door only www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/coronavirus-wales-exercise-meeting-friends-19870505
I give up now.

Kirsty has to go before Mark - they must have a deal.Grin

InsaneLockdowner · 19/02/2021 09:14

I think the justification is inpatient rates are still high. The same as in the April peak of last year, leaving little space.
However, one would hope with the dropping infection rates and vaccines there won't be the same rate of new admissions.

For me it's the hairdresser I'm missing most this week. Grin

CeeJay81 · 19/02/2021 09:23

Meeting people outdoors is great but we've got days of rain here, typical. Hoping for some dry warmer weather. My best friend has health issues which mean outdoor exercise doesn't really work, so it'll be nice if we are allowed to sit on a bench with a cuppa instead.

ImAllOut · 19/02/2021 09:24

Yes that's probably why he's relenting in outdoor exercising, knowing we're under flood warnings again!

Doilooklikeatourist · 19/02/2021 09:24

Yes @InsaneLockdowner, my haircut was due in early January I’m rebooked for early March , but I’m expecting another delay !
I managed 5 months with no haircut last year , I can do it again

The not travelling is just madness , has he forgotten that rural dwellers need to travel at least 5 miles to get to the nearest supermarket, let alone anywhere else

Very time I see him on the telly , I dislike him more

OH joy. It's blowing a gale here weather forecast dire, my friends are not within walking distance, not allowed to drive to meet up. I too give up.
justasking111 · 19/02/2021 09:31

I wonder if we are kept lockdown to enable the NHS to crack on with urgent treatment for non covid patients. OH been waiting a year now for emergency surgery. The private sector hospitals in Wales are doing the very worst cases, but with covid theatres need to be void between operations so they're moving slowly

ImAllOut · 19/02/2021 09:35

@justasking111 I think I will drive anyway when the weather is better. My friend has been alone with her first child born in April last year and it's been really hard seeing her struggle and feeling a bit useless. We'll just meet in the middle of nowhere off the beaten track somewhere, there's only a few miles between us anyway, and I've not been stopped driving to and from work in the past year anyway!

When I go back to work in March I will have to drive 30 miles to my school but I can't drive 2 miles to the beach(live on a v steep hill) which I can see from my front door! This is what frustrates me. I have never been stopped going to and from work but my neighbour was questioned by the police on the beach and told her to walk nearer to her home on the flat.
