We're a bit unfortunate,. Llandudno has police stopping cars here and fining. Anglesey one man who lives in Treaddur bay caught wind surfing in rhosneigr was fined. Conwy beaches patrolling police. Feel caged up here.

HauntedPencil · 19/02/2021 10:04

I am a bit gutted over the travel ban - I think a stay local would've been so much more manageable - I'm in a built up area with one park - can't walk anywhere else really kids get too tired.

HauntedPencil · 19/02/2021 10:04

We have a large police presence too - stopping cars & manning car parks etc

DrMadelineMaxwell · 19/02/2021 10:30

Ok...I stand corrected re schools. They aren't going to wait and see what foundation going back does to numbers of infections before announcing older pupils return. They have said March 15 for ks2 and exam years and will just keep an eye on numbers between now and then.

mrurddhasabitpart · 19/02/2021 10:31

Am I the only person who feels it almost cruel to send the older primary back for just two weeks? My daughter will be anxious, and two weeks in covid times with masks etc isn't enough to "settle in" before breaking up again for Easter. It just seems to be so pointless and she'll be so out of sorts. And where the hell do I get uniform? Asda stopped me buying jogging bottoms for my daughter this week as it's only babies clothes they can sell SadI'm eager for them to go back but with all the "hopes and maybes" plus the fact it'll be two weeks in two weeks off means I'm loathed to order a whole set of uniform/ shoes etc online.

Pandapotato · 19/02/2021 10:34

They aren’t actually announcing anything today are they? 🙄
I’m surprised they’re not allowing some local travel or extending households. People are fed up. Case rates are at their lowest since September. I think a little something would’ve helped with compliance going forward.

And tourism looks likely to be opened up before schools are fully open. Priorities, innit?

I think we will start risking fines now to travel for a walk & possibly allowing our teenager to mix with one friend.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 19/02/2021 10:36

I teach ks2. I'm glad to have them settling in for the 2 weeks to then have a 'normal' holiday and be back properly for the summer term. 2 weeks feels like plenty personally. Especially as it is to the same class and teacher and same routine.

Masks is going to be an interesting thing but mostly just adults in ks2 if it goes the same way as the guidance for return for foundation.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 19/02/2021 11:03

I'm glad about 4 adults being able to exercise as it means we can exercise with DS' best friend's family as under 11s don't count. Really frustrated that we aren't allowed to travel for exercise for up to 5 miles or so. We live in a city and our local area is rammed with walkers, impossible to keep 2m distance. We have been driving for about 10 mins and finding places where we barely see anyone. Infuriates me that this safer option is actually illegal.

Hi.
OH’s co worker ( from the south ) has a job in Colwyn Bay for a few days. Can anyone suggest anywhere that is open for a key worker . Ideally an apartment so he can prepare his own meals.
Thanks.

I think it will benefit mine - I can't see a problem with it really - having missed so much I think j every day will count and Easter will form a firebreak.

You can click and collect to Asda, I'm hoping nine haven't grown too much!

The 4 people rule is great if you don't have a child over 12. I have one under, one not so can't meet with both grandparents and both children. I guess they are never going to please everyone have to draw line somewhere. At least older daughter can meet with 3 friends for a walk.

Not today though, I just went out to shop it's hideous out there!

I would put a shout out on this local FB group, it seems to work very well, lots of people have been successful finding temporary accommodation.

I've just read it's Max 2 households too - so you couldn't meet 3 friends.

@justasking111

Why didn’t I think of that ?
Ta !

Pandapotato · 19/02/2021 12:49

People in rural areas (where covid numbers have been low throughout) are really being penalised with the exercise from home thing as it’s unlikely they live in walking distance of friends to meet up with.
Such a Cardiff biased view of wales, as usual!

ImAllOut · 19/02/2021 13:03

There just doesn't seem to be anything to support us not being able to drive two or three miles, particularly if the drive takes you away from crowds.

justasking111 · 19/02/2021 13:09

3 more weeks of this crap before the next edict. I give up, I feel broken now. Sad

Grass is always greener, I guess... I'm in Cardiff and we don't have any friends in walking distance either! Plus nowhere to walk, just Roath Lake (rammed) and the Rhymney river trail, aka the Dogshit Mile.

I would honestly kill for some green fields, or woods, and a beach would be heaven.

That said, it must be very frustrating to be in places like Pembrokeshire where you could probably open up quite safely

Yes I just don't understand the reasoning! I know there were issues with beauty spots but allowing a few miles wouldn't mean that these became overwhelmed.

We have something hopefully sorted now, will be 100% sure after Monday. Thanks again 👍🏻

I am glad, the navy have nurses here from Portsmouth doing the jabs, army doing stuff, they have all been housed.

What does the potential end to the stay at home order mean? Could it be an end to WFH if you can as well? Trying to work out what happened last time. I know it's still at least 3 weeks away ...

He I think alluded to flipping it to either stay local - or on a similar basis to the situations jn November when we could go in our counties

Not sure we'll get full reign then.

HauntedPencil · 19/02/2021 15:11

Definitely don't think the WFH message will change - he kept that going

AlohaMolly · 19/02/2021 16:48

To the PP who said Asda stopped her buying jogging bottoms - my MIL has just bought some for DS as he has shot up again. The staff member asked her if it was essential and my MIL apparently said well he’s got no trousers, and she let her buy them, so I think it’s still dependent on who you ask! This was mid Anglesey.
