Aww @Haywire mine are year 2 and 7, so I'll still have one at home. I'm glad I havent booked anything till Summer, also to Scotland cause we've got family there we haven't seen for soo long.

Powys seem to have done brilliantly with the vaccinations. The waiting list form I think is a great idea. I know many people that got called up to go due to spare vaccines.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 11/02/2021 18:21

Powys have 100% track & trace as well. I don’t understand why they haven’t made national news!!!

Haywire · 11/02/2021 19:09

Yes they really have stepped up in Powys, it's really impressive especially considering we don't have a county hospital, the demographics and geography!

Just feeling a bit glum today but have made huge chocolate cake so not all bad.

Greysofa · 11/02/2021 20:23

Wrexham have cancelled the return to school after half term due to the numbers, very close to Flintshire in numbers who are going ahead with the opening.

HauntedPencil · 11/02/2021 20:44

I've read delayed to the Friday? I think they all have the week to phase kids jn as they see fit.

Greysofa · 11/02/2021 20:58

I think they’ve said they will reassess on the Friday. Teacher friends have been told they won’t be in until the week after at least

Adrastia · 11/02/2021 22:03

My LA is doing a year group a day during the first week - schools have the discretion to rearrange this to sit their own circumstances.
We've been told that if cases start to rise the return may be postponed.

The opening arrangements have been a nightmare - I know one LA where they were told they had to open on Monday 22nd to pupils so HTs made and shared arrangements. Then late last night they were informed the Monday would be a planning day without pupils.

The issue with the guidance is it wasn't available until yesterday - it has to be read and the school has to update its risk assessment in line with the latest guidance - this takes time.
Schools haven't yet received the promised masks and lateral flow tests - these will be need to be distributed and admin systems for the testing set up.

Nice to have some good news for a change. I am
So impressed with the roll out.

Slightly annoying interview with Drakeford this morning. He seemed to imply that everyone in groups 5-9 would be vaccinated next week! My 70 year old relatives in Cardiff have still yet to get the jab (although they do have a booking).

ArosGartref · 12/02/2021 09:45

What did he say @pinkhappy? My local health board announced on wednesday that they wanted everyone in groups 5-6 by march then 7-9 by end of april. Then on Thursday my mum, in group 5, got a call from the GP to book her in for monday. So on a personal level i've been incredibly impressed with vaccination programme.

I think he just got muddled. He said that the next 5 groups (groups 5-9) would be vaccinated next week. I guess what he meant was that they are starting on these groups one group at a time from next week which is a very different thing.

ArosGartref · 12/02/2021 10:01

Thanks. Drakeford is usually quite sensible but he does seem prone to slip ups on a friday morning!

HauntedPencil · 12/02/2021 10:10

He is isn't he! Maybe Thursday is his beer night.

He has yet to beat the other week when he said they couldn't gie the vaccines out too quick or you might have staff standing around with nothing to do 🥴

ImAllOut · 12/02/2021 11:02

I can't imagine he has a beer night!

If he's tentatively discussing the prospect of some movement around tourism in Easter, it is ever so slightly possible he may allow some travel for exercise outside of the area at next Friday's review (she says, looking wistfully at the hills in the distance). I know I am being very optimistic and will go back to the crushing depression now.

Yes. That was brilliantly compared to fireman not wanting to put out the fire in your house too quickly because otherwise they would have nothing to do for the rest of the night.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 12/02/2021 12:02

Flintshire have confirmed we are still opening on the 22nd. And we are having all foundation in from day 1. No phased reentry.

Much coverage of the dip in vaccinations we were due to have due to lack of supply which is a concern. In counting the days til I get mine.

You might be right! I'm sure there will be something. However small it will be!

He says it's been planned for and sufficient is there for the second doses so I read it as the first doses will slow down. They do seem on the ball with it all now
Jellykat · 12/02/2021 14:44

Someones telling porkies...
Radio news keep playing a clip of MD saying all the over 70s have been vaccinated, and over 50s have been contacted for rollout of their vaccinations next week.

......Mark Drakeford told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that people aged over 50 would receive invitations for vaccine appointments from Monday.

He said: "Because we will have completed the first four groups by this weekend, then, as from Monday, people in the next five groups - that's people aged over 50 - will already be booked in for their appointments next week.

"So I know that people in those groups will have already been contacted this week by practices, by mass vaccination centres, and those people will be getting their vaccine from Monday onwards."

Not so Mr Drakeford! .. my 79 yr old mum, her partner, me (57) and my 50+ yr old friends have not heard a thing..

Sadik · 12/02/2021 14:53

I'm wondering when hairdressers will open!

DdraigGoch · 12/02/2021 15:14

@Jellykat your 79 year old mum will need to chase hers up (or you on her behalf). Odds are that the letter got lost in the post or something.

Jellykat · 12/02/2021 15:26

I know, think i'll have to do it as she's nervous about having the vaccine, so can't see her chasing it up (plus everyone was initially told not to ring the surgery, and to wait to be contacted)

CeeJay81 · 12/02/2021 15:38

Ceredigion has the lowest rate and almost always has done but there infants aren't going back till 1st march it seems, although that hasn't been confirmed yet.
