I see Welsh Government are offering lateral flow tests to everyone who doesn't work from home now, and Bridgend have set up mass testing too. I really think with that in place, considering the low cases, high number of vaccines given and the 85% reduction in deaths, that the restrictions should be eased sooner. Who fucking knows though.

Doilooklikeatourist · 14/04/2021 16:38

@JesusInTheCabbageVan that’s hopeful , but haven’t they paused work in the senedd so they can focus on the election?

I'm 38 and in North Wales - our health board has essentially just announced it's screwing us over. I'm furious!

bcuhb.nhs.wales/covid-19/covid-19-vaccination-information/vaccination-updates/vaccination-update17/

Basically they've announced they will be calling the 18-29 year olds before others as they've received the Moderna stock.

I would statistically fair worse with Covid but will be passed over now. I feel forgotten.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 14/04/2021 18:33

@Doilooklikeatourist hm, I don't know. Maybe I was prematurely getting excited. But as I understand it, under the JR process they do need to give a response - at any rate, if they don't want to be at a disadvantage if the case goes to court.

Here's the link if anyone fancies a read www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/wales-hospitality-opening-when-date-20352034

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 14/04/2021 18:33

@Lenterlily oh no Sad that's really shit.

DdraigGoch · 14/04/2021 18:37

Basically they've announced they will be calling the 18-29 year olds before others as they've received the Moderna stock.

some people aged 18-29 may be offered vaccination earlier than some older individuals.

"May be" and "will be" are very different things.

It doesn't really matter anyway. A 38 year old isn't really at much more risk than an 18 year old. As the vaccination programme reaches the not-vulnerable under-40s, it is no longer really about saving the lives of the vaccinated, instead it is now about achieving herd immunity. Therefore it doesn't really make much difference what order you do them at this stage, just get them out as quickly as possible to whoever.

Hello all! I've been lurking for a while but have delurked to say I've received my vaccine letter today with an appointment for next week and I'm 39! Lots of my friends the same age have had their letters too today. ABHB.

MoonlightFlitwick · 14/04/2021 19:18

I'm 50 and had the moderna vaccine this morning.

Sadik · 14/04/2021 22:13

51 and had Moderna this morning too :)

110APiccadilly · 15/04/2021 07:40

Does anyone know if there's a way to make sure you get Moderna? For reasons that I think would detail the thread considerably, so I'm not going to go into it, my mum won't have any of the others but would have that one. She's generally a bit anti-vax (I had to catch up on some standard childhood ones as an adult) so having any of them is a big deal for her.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 15/04/2021 09:17

Piccadilly, I would suggest putting her on the reserve list and if they phone, you can ask what vaccine they are giving out that day. That's what I've done for my sister because she is just over the age limit for AZ and because of our family history with blood clots I want her to have an alternative. It's not a guarantee but it does give you the chance to find our before you get to the appt and if it's the wrong one you can decline the appt and someone else can have it without it being wasted.

Stopyourhavering64 · 15/04/2021 14:46

Dd , 27, had Pfizer vaccine on Tuesday (BCUHB) ..she had asthma review by GP who added her to priority list last week
Her bf 26, got letter this morning (also BCUHB) is getting his vaccine next week ( he has mild type of haemophilia)

MrsLeclerc · 15/04/2021 16:44

Just popped on to say DH and I had our letters for a vaccine appointment date next week. I’m 36 and he’s 39. Really pleased and can’t wait to get it!

CherryJane · 15/04/2021 23:53

Late 40s South Wales and receive AZ today.
Just starting to feel a bit rough but so grateful to get it.

tempnamechange98765 · 16/04/2021 12:33

I’m 33 and had my jab in Cardiff and Vale on Tuesday. There was obviously big confusion in that health board as the message was sent out that over 30’s were allowed to ring to book, but after being inundated they said it was a mistake. But they’ve now gone back on that again and the latest news article said they have invited under 40’s - and several friends mid-late 30’s have now had letters inviting them to come next week.

Glad I had my first dose in the window of opportunity regardless! I had AZ as did DH (37) and we’ve not had any side effects.

Well outdoor hospitality is opening up on Monday. Heard on BBC1 Wales news bulletin.
6 from 6 households.can meet up. However one group of my friends =7. So who do we leave out? Take it in turns to miss out?
None of us have met up (since October) except for a sister's funeral in January and then 4 of us stood in the rain in the cemetery.
Am so fed up of these guidelines/rules. Especially when I am in a room with over 30 teens every day!

If you want to keep by the letter of the law, but are not overly concerned about the spirit, here's what we did when meeting another household who had enough teens to take us over the 6 person limit. We went to a park and split into two (ever changing) groups of less than 6. As long as each group is always less than 6, this is legal. It's stupid, but then so is saying two households can't meet because one of them has too many teenagers, imo.

I would just meet as 7. I don't know know anyone still abiding to the letter of the rules, noone is throwing raves or anything but I've seen most neighbours with one or two people in their houses and groups out bigger than two households/6 plus children.
Helocariad · 21/04/2021 13:34

I'm so pleased about 6 from 6 households rule. With 2 teens in the house this means they can finally meet up with their friends over the weekend.

I also had my vaccine letter (40+, Ceredigion). Feeling so pleased.

The last person to confirm they're coming. First come first served.

"A 38 year old isn't really at much more risk than an 18 year old"

I don't think that's true. When I last compared myself at 40+ and early twenties the risk of serious Covid seemed to be around double.

We're not talking about over 40s though. The risk to a 38 year old is only marginally more than the risk to an 18 year old. See the PHW death statistics - 0.2% of deaths (30-39) might be double 0.1% of deaths)(20-29) but both pale into insignificance when compared to the 20% of deaths which came from the 80-89 group.

I'm really agonising over the decision. Can I find five other people I actually like?
