Just had my vaccination at a hub.

It was brilliantly organised, everyone was very pleasant and efficient.

I am humbled. From the development of the vaccine, through its roll-out and delivery, many, many people have worked so hard and I am profoundly grateful.

If I hear anyone moaning and carping, I might just explode!

Yes indeed, thank you very much, vaccinators!

Cornettoninja · 05/02/2021 14:27

I told my vaccinator that I was really excited to be getting my vaccine, she looked at me like Hmm and said ‘I suppose there isn’t much to do these days is there?’ Grin I wanted sparklers and party poppers

Alfaix · 05/02/2021 14:29

I vaccinated someone on Wednesday and it was his birthday. Best present you could get surely?

MarshaBradyo · 05/02/2021 14:32

I bet it’s fantastic

I’m very grateful for all the hard work too

IrmaFayLear · 05/02/2021 14:37

I wish, though, that they’d given me a sticker - like the dcs used to get at the dentist Grin .

The GPs and nurses at the centre I help out at check-in volunteer say they love seeing people so excited and happy to be jabbed. When we indulge in our chocolate-biscuit/flapjack/healthy-eating-out-of-the-window break they always seem very cheerful themselves too.

I suppose everyone likes to feel part of something bigger than themselves: whether they're scientists working on vaccines, vaccinators, carpark marshals, patients, the people who put up the marquees, etc.

TastyTicklemore · 05/02/2021 14:50

Booked in for next Thursday and am taking my mum.

I suggested full ballgown attire but she looked at me a bit Confused so I'll have to settle for wearing a big grin instead!

Floralnomad · 05/02/2021 14:53

We had ours ( myself and dh) earlier this week , I emailed the coordinator of our group to congratulate her and her team on their excellent job , she seemed quite pleased that I’d bothered .

IrmaFayLear · 05/02/2021 14:57

That was a nice thing to do, FloraInomad. People are so quick to criticise and forget all about appreciation.

I've still got my waiting time sticker, when I had mine last week.

SummerHouse · 05/02/2021 15:03

Wonderful thread. Grin It's Friday and people are being jabbed left, right and centre. I am no where near mine but I don't care. I will celebrate anyone else with a Wine

Bagelsandbrie · 05/02/2021 15:05

I got a sticker! It’s all wonderful. We are so, so lucky to be in the position now where we have vaccines and they’re rolling out. This time last year was a very dark time but now the light is coming.

IrmaFayLear · 05/02/2021 15:06

Some people were doing selfies by the “vaccine centre” sign. I thought about it, but I can’t say I looked my best as the rain was crashing down and I was doing a Joe Biden with two masks, one of which had got caught over my eye...

I’ve just finished my shift and I absolutely love seeing people coming in to get their jabs.
It’s been wonderful to see it working so well.
I do the admin for the vaccinator and I’ve loved chatting with every patient

vodkaredbullgirl · 05/02/2021 15:09

No way would I have done a selfie, had only finished a night shift that day.

TheDogsMother · 05/02/2021 15:14

DH got his last week and it felt really celebratory. Smile

Before I opened this thread I’d just sent an email to the practice manager at our GP surgery. Staff members were working after hours the other night to book people into our local hub for this weekend and the one I spoke to was so cheerful. I wanted them to know that the staff behind the scenes are very much appreciated too.
TheQueef · 05/02/2021 15:24

Amazing isn't it?
I took my DDad for his and from the volunteer parking attendant onwards they were military efficient and friendly.
While I waited I saw every vaccinee come out, take off the mask and reveal 100watt grins.
It was ace.

LH1987 · 05/02/2021 16:07

I live next to a vaccination hub and can see it all from my window. I am sitting here now with a baby napping on me and marvelling at the organisation. Cars are streaming in, there are attendants on the pathways pointing people to the centre, attendants directing cars. This was even happening last sunday!

It's a massive operation and everyone involved should feel very proud of themselves! It is so great to see Smile.

Also those going in for the vaccine are starting to look younger and younger which makes me hopeful they will get to me soon!

IrmaFayLear · 05/02/2021 16:09

I’m sitting here cringing with embarrassment now, as the vaccinator asked how I was getting home, and I said “My chauffeur’s waiting - actually, do you have any spare slots since he’s right outside?” So she asked how old he was and when I said 21, she said that no, they couldn’t give the spare to that age group.

It was only five minutes ago that it dawned on me that I hadn’t explained that my “chauffeur” was actually ds in an old Ford Fiesta !!! Blush The shame of them thinking I was some eccentric posh person with a toy boy driver Blush .

She will have known what you meant.
LH1987 · 05/02/2021 16:13

@IrmaFayLear, to be fair you probably made her day, no doubt the most interesting person she met today would be the eccentric millionaire trying to get her staff vaccinated Grin

TheKeatingFive · 05/02/2021 16:27

Absolutely. My Dad and Aunt got their first job today. Hallelujah. My mum is Monday week.

It must feel wonderful to have contributed to this amazing process.

Better to give it to anyone than waste it surely , I hope they had plenty of appropriately aged people on their stand by list .

I got a sticker!!! Was thrilled with it!!
