Just had my vaccination at a hub.

It was brilliantly organised, everyone was very pleasant and efficient.

I am humbled. From the development of the vaccine, through its roll-out and delivery, many, many people have worked so hard and I am profoundly grateful.

If I hear anyone moaning and carping, I might just explode!

I got a sticker Grin. I also made sure that they knew I had a DH willing to be jabbed had they any going spare (they didn't, which was fine of course).

I took some pics on my phone of the vaccination signs (vaccination here - WAY OUT Grin

cheninblanc · 05/02/2021 16:41

I got a sticker and I was so excited!! Feels really good to have had it and so well executed

MaureenMLove · 05/02/2021 16:43

I was the first person at my school to get it (extremely vulnerable person) and I had to get a selfie of me and my vaccination card, outside the hospital, for the Friday feel good bulletin.Grin

Bit annoying, that I still can't actually go to school, because I'm shielding, but it was a nice thing to share and I had lots of cheerful messages from colleagues.

WalrusWife · 05/02/2021 18:07

I’m glad that other people are happy but I really cannot imagine crying with joy or anything from having a vaccination.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 05/02/2021 18:09

Can't wait for mine

55larry · 05/02/2021 18:58

Dh had his vaccine on Monday and had mine on Wednesday. I made a point of telling all the volunteers I spoke to how impressed Dh had been with all the organisation. I was also impressed as everyone was so helpful and organised. The whole centre was so well run.

I got a sticker and Dh was envious because he didn’t!

Dontrainonmyparade · 05/02/2021 19:07

Thank you @IrmaFayLear
I love working in my local hub, all the patients are so pleased to be getting the vaccine, it’s a lovely job at the moment. Some of my team give stickers to everyone as a matter of course, which I found a bit odd, given our clientele average age range isn’t 7, but your post has made me take a less Hmm view of it.

Glad you had a good experience!

RosesAndLemonade · 06/02/2021 03:38

Im with you there but each to their own if it makes them happy. I'm CEV with allergies and therefore (despite MN people constantly telling me I could have one, when my drs have said I absolutely can't) won't be getting it. I've not shielded anyway and didn't want the vaccine so it's easier for me that I can't. I'm happy for people though
Mediumred · 06/02/2021 03:58

Oh it’s so wonderful to hear about anyone getting it, helping them and because it’s hope for a path for normality for all of us, and massive massive gratitude to the scientists and the healthcare workers and volunteers who are delivering it, it is wonderfully humbling to think that in the face of this pandemic we have people and science fighting back and hopefully saving our most vulnerable.

I’ve just turned 50 so am at the very bottom of the priority groups but will get it soonish I guess. I would happily give up my place for a younger teacher, shop worker, transport worker though. I’ve kept working all the way through on site but we are able to be reasonably distanced.

All hail the vaccine workers indeed!

LunaNorth · 06/02/2021 04:01

What a lovely, positive thread. A real shot in the arm (see what I did there?)

Fontella · 06/02/2021 04:09

An older friend of mine got his on Thursday and said it was brilliantly organised.

He went to a local health centre and said he wasn't there more than 4 minutes. There were six nurses all giving jabs and everyone had a patient with them so six people getting vaccinated simultaneously.

He walked straight in one door. No hanging about then straight out of another door. Easy, straightforward, efficient.

I think it is just brilliant when the country comes together like this and all the various agencies. It just shows what is possible.

RosesAndLemonade · 06/02/2021 06:43

As happy as I am for people the stickers is weird and frankly a little creepy

namechangefail2020 · 06/02/2021 06:57

There will always be a few to piss on the parade!

Congrats to all you who have had the jab, better times are coming!!

itsgettingweird · 06/02/2021 07:06

Agree! My local one is efficient beyond belief!

I told the nurse I felt emotional and asked if many felt like that?

She said on NYD most people were very tearful and so was she was it was a symbolisation of the hope we had for this year and getting through this.

I'm back middle of April for my second dose. I can imagine because this one is the dose that confirms my immunity from severe disease (well 85% chance!) I'll be even worse and may take Kleenex Grin

itsgettingweird · 06/02/2021 07:08

@IrmaFayLear

I wish, though, that they’d given me a sticker - like the dcs used to get at the dentist Grin .
I got the covid jab sticker for my phone but put it on my handgel!
whataballbag · 06/02/2021 07:09

Baffled at some posters not being able to understand what this vaccine means to people.

My doctors confirmed I was in group 6 this week and I cried for 45 bloody minutes with absolute sheer relief that I'd be getting a vaccine sometime soon. I have horrific anxiety and this past year has been an absolute mindfuck. It was nice to cry with happiness instead of hopelessness and desperation for a change.

Allthebubbles · 06/02/2021 07:16

I had mine yesterday as I work with clinically vulnerable pupils- I was so happy and excited, as is everyone at work- it's like a cloud lifting slightly.
The vaccine hub was super efficient and just felt positive.

BigGreen · 06/02/2021 07:16

It is wonderful!! Just my Mum to go on Monday and then all the over 60s in my family done. It's a big relief. Then vulnerable cousin and sister. Will be so nice to feel confident for them, I know it's been a worrying year. Thanks to everyone from the awesome scientists to the everyone making it happen on the ground.

I'm well aware what it means to people but I don't see why a grown adult needs a sticker.
EmilyEmmabob · 06/02/2021 07:23

Congratulations to everyone! My DH (CEV) had his this week and the relief was immense. It feels like we have a little bit of freedom back knowing that he is protected by something other than our complete isolation.

I really want one, I'm 38 and have mild asthma so I'm not in a priority group, but I just can't wait to start feeling a bit more confident.

It's amazing how far we have come since last year, people can criticise all they want but we have a vaccine and that's massive!

ihatethecold · 06/02/2021 07:23

When I was working at the clinic yesterday any parents of clinically vulnerable people or carers were being asked if they’d been jabbed already. If not they were being offered one at the same time.
They weren’t expecting it but the relief I saw on their faces and how happy they were to be offered it made my day.

I drove home feeling good. Ive missed that feeling.

Theredjellybean · 06/02/2021 07:33

I am vaccinating and love it
In the beginning the older pts.. Some hadn't left their house or spoken to anyone in person for months.. They all wanted to chat.
Some had dressed up for the occasion, ties, suits, and one fur coat.
Its the best morning of my week and we give out stickers... ☺

PilatesPeach · 06/02/2021 07:43

I am a non-medical volunteer - car park, taking temperatures etc and do really enjoy it. I am not working atm as my sector is closed but I will still carry on once I go back to work even if it is one shift a week. Such a great atmosphere - can get very cold outside though and wet but still love it.

AutumnOrange · 06/02/2021 07:49

I got really emotional when I got my jab. Same when my dad got his. I have no time for this Tory Government and think they have been shit during this but getting the vaccine out to so many people so quickly has been amazing.

RosesAndLemonade · 06/02/2021 07:49

Well fair enough if people want stickers take them.
To me it just infantilises the whole thing and makes it, to me, less of a big deal than it actually is.
Because to me the vaccines ARE a massive deal - I can't have one and don't want one (for many real, actual reasons - I'm not anti vax - my kids are vaccinated and I've paid for extra ones that aren't on the usual nhs kids vaccine schedule) but I think that the fact that we have already vaccinated millions is incredible

But to me, grown adults getting stickers - to be honest it turns it into a bit of a farce / joke situation to me when it's actually a massive turning point.
