Just had my vaccination at a hub.

It was brilliantly organised, everyone was very pleasant and efficient.

I am humbled. From the development of the vaccine, through its roll-out and delivery, many, many people have worked so hard and I am profoundly grateful.

If I hear anyone moaning and carping, I might just explode!

@Floralnomad

We had ours ( myself and dh) earlier this week , I emailed the coordinator of our group to congratulate her and her team on their excellent job , she seemed quite pleased that I’d bothered .
The teams love this, and comments on the practice FB page. It takes the sting away from the ones who moan that they had to wait for 15 mins and it was cold!
OneFootintheRave · 06/02/2021 08:45

Yes! Kudos to all in involved. All the painstaking logistics, training, knowledge, development and research. Then I compare this to the type of "research" the QAnon twats are pontificating about and just ConfusedConfused

Cornettoninja · 06/02/2021 08:45

@RosesAndLemonade I have no problem with people having an opinion, but if you’re going to express yours why shouldn’t I express mine about yours? What’s the rule you’re following here?

Humans celebrate things with tokens, whether you personally recognise the value of it or not doesn’t mean there’s not a value in it (if only to lift someone’s spirit). We give out certificates, medals, trophies etc. for all sorts of things that I don’t really ‘get’ but I recognise the value to those who do get something out of it.

Covid vaccines are an achievement, receiving one is a positive moment for many people. Stickers are a harmless recognition of that. If you think it’s ridiculous that’s your right and no one is going to force you to participate, but I see no need to try and make people feel small because they enjoyed it. Not liking it doesn’t convey that you understand the seriousness or achievements of the covid vaccination programme better than anyone else.

Northernsoullover · 06/02/2021 08:56

I had mine a few weeks ago. I also walked in with a huge grin and babbling with excitement. It felt better than a lottery win! However, I felt much more excitement and relief when my dear dad went for his. My mum is going for hers on Monday.

Arobase · 06/02/2021 08:57

Can I ask, are people being called for vaccination by letter, or by text or email? Don't want to miss my call when it comes!

TheRuleofStix · 06/02/2021 08:58

The logistics are amazing! All the doctors, nurses, volunteers who have made this happen are incredible Smile.

Hope they all get a sticker too?! Grin

It’s a ray of sunshine in an otherwise endless sea of grey - thank you Flowers.

Frazzlefrazle · 06/02/2021 08:58

Well I bloody love my sticker! And I've kept it Grin

TheRuleofStix · 06/02/2021 08:59

@Arobase my mum got a phone call.

TheRuleofStix · 06/02/2021 09:00

@Frazzlefrazle my mum didn’t get one - she’s going to be gutted now she knows that she could have had one Grin.

Firefliess · 06/02/2021 09:01

My local GP's is really well run, Marshall's showing people where to go. All very spacious and positive.

I do think stickers are useful. They help people to share that they've had the vaccine, and seeing others have had it has been shown to be the best thing by far too persuade vaccine-hesitant people to get vaccinated - much more effective than rational argument. So a really valuable thing, not just for children.

whataballbag · 06/02/2021 09:03

My 54 year old dad was well chuffed with his sticker 😆

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 06/02/2021 09:06

Yes, and people at the testing centres , which are really well organised where I am (and I went in about five minutes before they closed, and only one person was grumpy).
Just don't ask me to stand outside and clap.
I am not a seal, I do not do that.

Firefliess · 06/02/2021 09:06

I did wonder where it would be an idea to set up a stall outside a vaccination centre offering stickers or even proper badges, and asking for a donation to charity in return. People are often so happy to have the vaccine, I reckon you'd make loads of money for your charity. Could be one to support local NHS trusts or medics, or healthcare in developing countries, something relevant.

UndeadSlut · 06/02/2021 09:07

My CEV DP is having his today and I'm so excited for him! I hope he gets a sticker...

hamstersarse · 06/02/2021 09:12

not, I hate them I'm really antisocial smile
@RosesAndLemonade. I wouldn’t have guessed!

There is some relevance to stickers, it’s not just pure frivolity. It has symbolic meaning, and most humans quite like that and need it. It is symbolising progress and completion, even hope. Our lives are full of symbols and this one is especially important given the shit show of the last year.

Anyway, the vaccination centres here have been incredible too. Such an amazing achievement for all involved

Letter from NHS central service, phone call from GP

I do get quite a lot of texts from Central NHS too (CEV) - I've not checked to see if I had a text invitation for vaccination as well. Nothing received by email on vaccination invitation.

As far as I can tell- phone for Wales and letter for Scotland. Don't know about England or NI sorry!

If you are in one of the eligible groups being vaccinated you don’t need to wait for the letter to arrive, you can book via the nhs website without having been contacted even though it says you need to be contacted first. I’m in the clinically extremely vulnerable group and just booked directly this way and had my vaccine last week. Still haven’t been contacted by anyone or received a letter. Google book Covid vaccine nhs and follow the link. It won’t let anyone book who isn’t eligible.

@RosesAndLemonade

I think we all deserve a bloody sticker after this last year.

I think you deserve a sticker for spoiling a lovely positive thread. Oh no, you don't like stickers do you...

PinkTonic · 06/02/2021 09:21

I’ve had mine and I was thrilled and humbled. I did comment later on to my friend that there were no stickers or lollipops. It was a joke because the last time we lined up for a vaccination we were small children lining up for a polio vaccine on a sugar lump.

Shehz21 · 06/02/2021 09:47

May I kindly ask if you get a little card that you have been vaccinated?

I got one with the appointment details on it and which vaccine I’d had - is that what you mean?
