I’m seeing this as a thing on social media.

No. One is sufficient

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2021 21:27

No. What for?

Bvop · 31/01/2021 21:28

Doesn’t that make it hard to breathe Confused

NotCornflakes · 31/01/2021 21:28

No. The only person I see on social media double masking is Joe Biden!

Throwaway99 · 31/01/2021 21:28

No. Ones enough. I don't think I have enough room behind my ears for 3 masks.

faerin · 31/01/2021 21:29

No.

Topseyt · 31/01/2021 21:29

No. I don't and I never will. One mask is plenty.

What fresh hell is this?

lunapeace · 31/01/2021 21:30

Be better off wearing glasses in addition. Virus gets through eyes substantially.

Yes. I double mask if I've had to go inside for a medical appointment. Medical grade first and a tighter cotton mask over the top.
I've not been in a shop this year but I might double my mask wearing when I return in a few weeks.

WalrusWife · 31/01/2021 21:32

Lots of photos on Twitter with people showing how much they care by wearing 3 masks!

Quite a few people at the inauguration were. I think Dr Fauci has also suggested it.

I don’t do it though.

Brunt0n · 31/01/2021 21:34

No. I wear glasses so my ears are working hard enough.

Throwaway99 · 31/01/2021 21:34

If I saw someone wearing three masks, I wouldn't think they cared more I would think they were a bit bonkers tbh.

WalrusWife · 31/01/2021 21:35

I wear a surgical mask in shops / hospital trips, because I have to. No more.

BananaPop2020 · 31/01/2021 21:35

Seriously? When is this going to end?!

Pan2 · 31/01/2021 21:37

It's impressive the number of people who can state that one is enough.

We have two - the one common blue one provides gaps around your nose, and a tighter cloth one pulls the blue one tighter. No great shakes and increases safety. MrsPan is especially vulnerable (which means that I need to behave as if I am) so we are very conscious of risk.

sylbunny · 31/01/2021 21:37

I've just come out of isolation after testing positive. I have a hospital appointment on Tuesday so 2 days out of isolation and I will definitely be double masking as I am terrified of passing it on to someone even though I'm 'not contagious' according to the people at track and trace.

Pan2 · 31/01/2021 21:39

'bit bonkers'..or...being necessarily very careful as our knowledge is incomplete and we err on the side of caution. To not do may be fatal in our family.

2boysand1princess · 31/01/2021 21:39

I’ve recently started doing this. Not everywhere. Only very busy places where I’m only there for a short period of time. I didn’t realise it was a “thing” now. I was advised over the phone by the consultant do it for my antenatal appointment recently. I’m not high risk or anything, but cases were extremely high in my area when I had the appointment.

Where does it end though? Is 2 enough? 3, 4?

I'd struggle to breath in 2 masks all day. I have to wear masks for 8 hours.

AuntyClementine · 31/01/2021 21:41

I quadruple mask, or sometimes quintuple in more enclosed settings.

Alfaix · 31/01/2021 21:41

Yes. I wear 2 IIR masks for work or FFP with IIR over the top.
In shops etc I wear either FFP or IIR plus fabric.

WalrusWife · 31/01/2021 21:42

What next, seal your mouth up with duct tape?

OP posts:
Pan2 · 31/01/2021 21:42

I don't know where it ends, but enough medic researchers are concerned enough to recommend doubling. MN posters are...generally...less well informed, but that doesn't stop some.
