Lockdown until summer?

Arghhhhhhhhhh.....

I actually can’t take anymore. I’m barely holding on by a thread as it is and I’m really trying to not read the news but it’s everywhere.

I was expecting March/April but summer?!

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9172621/Boris-Johnson-refuses-rule-lockdown-lasting-SUMMER.html

OP posts:
Pootle40 · 21/01/2021 18:33

Of course it won't. This is what you call irresponsible reporting and/or scaremongering!

Thefeep · 21/01/2021 18:34

It’s the daily mail, I won’t even click on it.

WildfirePonie · 21/01/2021 19:00

Daily Fail.

Lelophants · 21/01/2021 19:01

They said restaurants maybe May. Doesnt mean other things wont lift sooner.

Lelophants · 21/01/2021 19:01

Also as others have said, read something other than a tabloid!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 21/01/2021 19:02

Someone (in real life) told me that schools won't open until September.

It's nonsense. The government has to balance economy Vs health.

Lookingforwardto2021 · 21/01/2021 19:03

One step at a time and don’t look too far ahead. Try to do little things to nourish yourself. Summer is far away. And warm days and long evenings will make things more bearable.

ClangingChimesofDoom · 21/01/2021 19:04

A crystal ball would probably be as useful as the daily mail when it comes to this sort of thing OP i.e. not at all.

Who? Confused that's so unlikely
SnowFields · 21/01/2021 19:08

Summer starts in June. So yes, it’s quite realistic for us to be in a tier structure then and restricted to a large extent, but I think the formal lockdown will end by then.

No one knows when the schools will reopen. Just like last time. And think about this time. They closed the schools a day after many had gone in for a day. No one, including those in charge, have any idea.
Beaniecats · 21/01/2021 19:12

It's been reported on BBC
We will never have our civil rights and freedoms back.

Kinlocrhum · 21/01/2021 19:12

In the Telegraph too.

Katie517 · 21/01/2021 19:15

I think the daily fail are scaremongering as usual but I do think they purposely use the word lockdown which implies what we are in now as opposed to somewhere in the tier system which I think most people are expecting until May at the earliest. The lockdown in the form we are in now will not last until summer people won’t comply and the government know it.

Hollywhiskey · 21/01/2021 19:17

They don't know. Just get to February. The evenings are getting longer. Things are getting better and this too shall pass.

Glittertwins · 21/01/2021 19:18

It's also on BBC and The Times
swg1 · 21/01/2021 19:19

Boris was outright asked today and refused to confirm it would lift before summer. That's why it's being reported.

User133847 · 21/01/2021 19:20

Summer technically starts in March.

fluffyugg · 21/01/2021 19:23

@User133847 no it doesn't...

FTMF30 · 21/01/2021 19:25

@User133847

Summer technically starts in March.
In what country?
FreshFreesias · 21/01/2021 19:28

Lockdowns will never end.
Another virus will come along and it will start all over again.
People need to rise up, like they have in Italy 🇮🇹 for example, and demand their freedoms back.

StealthPolarBear · 21/01/2021 19:31

I'm glad he's refusing to make promises he maybe can't keep. He's refusing to rule it out, quite right, this is an ever changing situation, as Christmas showed.

That's what I thought when I read it. I'm no fan of Boris but he's damned if he does and damned if he don't with this.
Woofbloodywoof · 21/01/2021 19:36

@FreshFreesias this is the second time I’ve seen someone mention Italy ‘rising’ up but no news site I can see is reporting anything of this nature. What’s been happening there? I’m genuinely curious.

Puppylucky · 21/01/2021 19:40

British summer time starts in March which is what the PP was referring to
