Unfortunately this is around the time people either start to get better, or they start to deteriorate.

Keep resting and get someone to keep an eye on you.

bailey999 · 18/01/2021 17:36

Turning point in terms of getting way worse or on the mend?

OP posts:
Porcupineintherough · 18/01/2021 17:54

It is sadly common to feel a lot worse in the second week with COVID. This does not mean you will become seriously ill, although you should of course keep a careful eye on your temp, breathing etc.

I would expect you to have a few more grim days then start to pick up.

Make sure you stay hydrated - drink enough do you are peeing regularly. Alternating paracetamol and ibruphrophen may help w the headache. Other than that, rest, rest, rest.

And yes, it is awful x

@dublingirl66

It is at that point it tends to go either way.
takingwhatineed · 18/01/2021 17:55

Wishing you a speedy recovery. I'm struggling today too. Day 9 here and I feel so fatigued. I was fine for the first 7 days

WhydoesItAlwaysRainMe · 18/01/2021 17:56

Hope you feeling better soon

I used to have days where I would feel okay and then next day feel awful again. I started feeling better after about 11 days, fully better after about 3 weeks. As others have said, stay hydrated and rest lots and GP told me to take vitamins

bailey999 · 18/01/2021 17:56

I am on day 7 and up until yesterday I have been absolutely fine. Yesterday and today my legs feel like lead weights and I feel breathless. Temperature has gone, aches and pains have gone, but the breathlessness is concerning me

bailey999 · 18/01/2021 17:56

Hope you feel better soon op

Bitbusyattheminute · 18/01/2021 17:57

Glad I found this. Dh is day 7 and his temp is over 100 again. He's older than me, so I'm quite twitchy. I'm day 5 and feel quite a bit better today.

dublingirl66 · 18/01/2021 18:00

hollieberrie · 18/01/2021 18:28

HANG IN THERE. The worst was over for me after about 3 or 4 weeks, although I'm still struggling with long covid. My top tips: loads of water, pulse oximeter for reassurance, electrolyte tablets / drinks, rest, plain food. You got this xx

dublingirl66 · 18/01/2021 18:33

Thanks so much
Love to you all

Mentally planning a trip to Italy has helped me this evening

That's all I could do for myself

Not wishing to be alarmist but when I worked on contact tracing the advice we gave was to call 111 if you aren't on the mend after 7 days.

littleowl1 · 18/01/2021 18:45

@dublingirl66

My dear friend had covid last Spring after responding to the call for retired nurses to return to work. She signed up willingly and unfortunately contracted covid quite quickly thereafter.

She was doing very well but did have a couple of very dark days. We were all rocked to our core. Paramedics in hazmut suits were in the house for hours delivering oxygen. She was so afraid. We were so afraid.

But she got great care and kept calling 111/999 as needed whenever she was worried and she got great care and guidance, thankfully didnt need to go to hospital and you know something, she is right as rain now! There's not a bother on her!

Just anytime you are worried, pick up the phone. Call 111 or 999. The NHS were amazing, they kept in touch and monitored her remotely and as soon as extra assistance was needed they were there.

Make sure you get any support you need and that you keep in touch with the medical professionals. They really are angels.

GooodMythicalMorning · 18/01/2021 18:54

day 15 and still feeling a bit shit. Everything aches. was in hosp fri due to covid causing lung pain. Not in any immediate trouble but definitely still a bit rubbish.

Thedarksideofthemoon30 · 18/01/2021 19:06

I
Had covid back in April and it was around day 6/7 I felt worse but it lasted around 25 days. I ended up with an inhaler and antibiotics because of my chest.. this was before tests were rolled out

Thedarksideofthemoon30 · 18/01/2021 19:07

I remember ringing the ambulance saying I couldn’t breathe and they wanted to send soemone out but because I was home alone with the kids I didn’t :(

Porcupineintherough · 18/01/2021 19:14

@Bitbusyattheminute can you get his temperature back down with paracetamol/ibruphrophen? If not, please call 111.
