Oh, you poor love. I was like this too. And I am well on the mend. If an unfit fattie like me can improve, anyone can! You'll be ok. It's just a waiting game. I started to feel better after just over a week, but have heard that Day 10 or thereabouts is the turning point for many.
Hope you start to feel better soon Thanks

lovelemoncurd · 18/01/2021 20:14

It was day 9 with me that I started to feel worse. That was back in March.

Hope you're feeling better soon 💐

girlofthenorth · 18/01/2021 20:15

Hope you feel better soon , you most likely will . Keep remembering it's a tiny few who have to go into hospital . It's really scary , but keep going you'll get through this . Call the GP for some advice if you are worried . I had it in December , feeling much better now though really tired. Get as much rest as poss Thanks

lovelemoncurd · 18/01/2021 20:18

That was a joke back in March. Call 111 after 7 days. Yeah right! Back then they weren't even bothering with you unless your sats went below 90% and you couldn't speak in full sentences.

Whatever bad stuff is going on now it's surely improved from March!

dublingirl66 · 18/01/2021 20:25

Thanks so much

Worried to hear this about day and 10
Does that mean I will get worse?

I'm rarely sick so this is all so unusual

Also the covid nightmares/ odd dreams whaaaat????

Ughhhhh

DrCindyPops · 18/01/2021 20:25

Don't panic with all these comments. Yes you do need to be careful & watch your oxygen. Call 111 if you are deteriorating quickly, struggling to breathe or are at all concerned BUT just because you aren't feeling better doesn't mean you will be seriously seriously unwell. I felt much worse the second week and was totally exhausted but thankfully not too unwell & had no breathing issues. Take care, plenty of fluids and rest and get some vitamin d if you can, and always call for help if you start to get worried.

dublingirl66 · 18/01/2021 20:28

Ok super thanks

My oxygen sats are 99

My elderly father is 97

How often should I check my fathers sats??

OP posts:
Porcupineintherough · 18/01/2021 20:32

So really after day 7 this should be better?

No, not necessarily. After day 14 you should be on the mend though.

Check your dad's sats 3 times a day (whilst he's awake, your sats naturally drop whilst you are sleeping ). Also check he's not over breathing (panting) as that's another sign of trouble.

SophieB100 · 18/01/2021 21:10

Weird dreams go with running a fever OP, when I had swine flu a few years ago, I was hallucinating.
Drink loads of fluids, alternate paracetamol with ibuprofin, eat plain food little and often and rest.
Your body is fighting the virus - you'll have good and bad days until your immune system wins. Hang on in there, rest and don't do more than you have to. Flowers

Angels on here

This night is much easier than the past 9 days

Lie on your front for a bit if you can tolerate it, helps open up your airways.
Sleep upright, it can help breathing feel more comfortable if you can't
Your sats sound fine at 99%, generally anything above 96/97% is ok,
If consistently dropping below that ring 111.
If down to late 80s early 90s ring 999
Check you've got a good trace. Should be a regular wave like pattern. If it's flat or an abnormally low reading check your hands are warm. Cold hands can throw up an abnormal one.
If you can comfortably sit there, speak in full sentences and sats > 96/97 you should be ok. Try to concentrate on your breathing, anxiety really does make things worse, loads of breathing exercises on youtube to help you relax.
Drink 1.5-2ltrs fluid, I had chocolate complan as I didn't eat properly for nearly 2 weeks. If you have d and v try dioralite sachets to replace electrolytes, just sips. And rest, if circumstances allow !
It's bloody awful I agree, most frightening 2 weeks of my life but odds are you will be ok. But if you know what to look for, you are better prepared. Take care Flowers

Great this is so so useful

It is hard being ill but also worrying about an older father too as he is ill and so vulnerable

Roll on normality

Angel !!

Well that is reassuring

Been reading and reading online to see if I could get a better idea about when the really sick need icu (guess this is the fear for my 85 year old father)

Could take a few more rough days and then hoping I will be over the worse

Who knows though
The doctor earlier said not to get too complacent

OP posts:
dublingirl66 · 19/01/2021 06:06

How are people submitting their sats to doctors ? Is this like a covid clinic?
Good idea
Wish I cold do this for my father

He is 85
Sats 96-97
Day 8 covid
Eating
Not drinking much
Weak
Occasional cough

I am sick too
So not sure what to do next for him
No fever

I had COVID last April, did OK at first and then it changed in the second week and I went downhill quite badly. Yes, it's awful and I really sympathise. Although I was very ill I didn't need to go to hospital and I did come through it, I am sure you will too. Don't let the fear get to you....I was constantly thinking "is it going to get worse, will I end up in hospital?" The reality is that most people don't, and you will pull through.

dublingirl66 · 19/01/2021 07:06

Thanks a much

I think il be ok with time

Single mother and carer for my father
We all have it

Day 8 for him
His cough today is heavy

97 oxygen sats
Eating
Not drinking much
Sleepy

Rang his doctor each day since Friday

SophieB100 · 19/01/2021 07:31

Do all you can to encourage your dad to drink OP, even if it's just sips through a straw, little and often. Clear fluids. If he's running a temp you don't want him to dehydrate.

dublingirl66 · 19/01/2021 08:50

Thank you

I was coming on to say the same thing. 111 were literally useless back in March, maybe they are better now!

Hope you are on the mend soon. Remember you might feel crap for quite a long time, and have a temp for a while, but I think the main thing is that you can breathe OK. Sending healing vibes! Flowers

NancyDrew1966 · 19/01/2021 10:55

I agree Get fluids down him, complan, meretain, build up, more important than food tbh. Ice pops, iced juice lollies, soup. Older people are really at risk of dehydration and aki, especially if they are on meds like diuretics, ace inhibitors (ramipril etc)
Check he's rousable too. His sats sound ok.
