Would you report a hairdresser for still working at the moment?

I’m not usually one for reporting people, but where we are has some of the highest Covid rates in the whole of the U.K. Our local hospital is on its knees and staff have even been on the local news begging people to abide by the rules, yet today I log into social media to see that some silly cow has had her hair done and actually tagged the hairdresser that did it! I mean how fucking stupid and entitled can you possibly be?! It’s actually made me quite angry as today I learned that someone who lived near me has died of Covid at just 40 leaving a wife and kids.

I mean what is the fucking point in any of us following the rules when you have twats like this doing what the hell they like? I really do feel the need to report them but wouldn’t know where to start?

I’d be tempted to under current circumstances. The hospitals are struggling to cope so any extra spread risks anyone with any health condition not being able to get medical treatment in an emergency.

Northernsoullover · 11/01/2021 15:45

Yes absolutely. You can't get much closer contact. Your gynaecologist is probably further away than a hairdresser would be.

ThisTooShallPass20 · 11/01/2021 15:46

Report them.

Danni91 · 11/01/2021 15:47

I wouldn't, but I do think the woman's an absolute selfish arsehole.

I think they're basically naming and shaming themselves at this point.

Changeismyname · 11/01/2021 15:47

Yes. They deserve to be fined and they should be made to stop working. Google “report covid breach”

lunar1 · 11/01/2021 15:48

Yep, if we get this lockdown right it could be the last one. I've no time for people who think they are more important than the rest of us.

Bluntness100 · 11/01/2021 15:49

No I would not. But I’d think the woman was an absolute twat for posting it.

GoldenLabbie · 11/01/2021 15:49

Just out of interest who would you report them to? The police or is it the council? Also would it be anonymous? I’ve a feeling it could get quite nasty if they found out it was me. They’re the sort if you get what I’m saying.

I can’t believe how angry it has made me. Why do you even need a haircut and a balayage at the moment? And then to fucking boast about it on social media! Just astonishing.

I would report them. No-one really needs to have their hair done just now. This new variant is frighteningly contagious.

ememem84 · 11/01/2021 15:51

if you are definitely sure that the person and said hairdresser have done this whilst in lockdown, and aren't part of each others support bubble then yes i'd report it.

WhyDoesItAlwaysRainMe · 11/01/2021 15:53

Are you sure it was done in lockdown. I know some hairdressers are posting "throwback" pictures of when they were allowed to work. If not, yes deserves to be reported and I'm not usually one to report anyone

GoldenLabbie · 11/01/2021 15:53

Definitely not in each others support bubble. The girl lives with her boyfriend, and she directly tagged the hairdressers business Instagram, the hairdresser then shared it!

Thinking seriously about this, I think you should report. We are in a lockdown situation, and it won't get any better if people dont follow the rules?

GoldenLabbie · 11/01/2021 15:55

It’s definitely been done within the last 24 hours as yesterday she had hair down to her elbows. Now it’s shoulder length and it has that just cut and coloured look. Obviously professionally done.

Stupid bit no I wouldn’t report her.

GoldenLabbie · 11/01/2021 16:01

I’ve looked and you can report a breach online, but I don’t actually have an address as it looks like the hairdresser is a mobile hairdresser and it’s been shared on Instagram.

Funkypickle · 11/01/2021 16:10

Hairdressers should absolutely not be working at the moment.

But are you sure this isn't a pic from before lockdown as in it wasn't posted say I'm September? Hairdresser has asked her tag or post it to keep her business getting 'likes'. It's really hard for businesses like this to stay relevant and beat the Instagram algorithms unless they are posting daily etc?

I know several hairdressers who have a back catalogue of work to post and they work of this portfolio relentlessly.

Be 100% before reporting. Please don't contribute to wasted public service time.

Invisimamma · 11/01/2021 16:10

Take a screenshot of the Instagram post and share that with the police.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 11/01/2021 16:13

Yes as the new strain and case numbers are frightening, I’d rather do something than ignore and it spreads more. People are losing their lives, health and jobs so we all need to play our part.

GoldenLabbie · 11/01/2021 16:17

As I said upthread I’m almost certain her hair was done today as when she last posted on Saturday her hair was half way down her back. Now it’s shoulder length and obviously freshly dyed and styled. I won’t report until I’m certain, and part of me feels sorry for the hairdresser who’s probably just trying to get by and not getting any help from the government. I just can’t get over how silly they are to share it on social media!

Carlislemumof4 · 11/01/2021 16:19

No. I take the rules seriously but very much concentrate on what my own family is doing. I'm not going to report anyone, you never quite know their circumstances.

I'm aware of a self-employed hairdresser still seeing some clients. She probably falls through the gaps for financial support and everyone needs a living coming in.

I know she's someone meticulous about hygiene at work and at home and see it as her and her client's decision as to whether they take the risk for themselves and their families.

RiverSkater · 11/01/2021 16:21

Why isn't the hairdresser not getting help?
In any case, it's no excuse. If everybody feeling the pinch did this.....Confused

EreLongDoneDoDoesDid · 11/01/2021 16:24

I’m going to play devils advocate here and say yes I think from a moral standpoint that you probably should report but that times are hard for hairdressers at the moment and I think that some may well be doing what they can do survive. That obviously means the sympathy falls more on the side of the hairdresser than the silly mare having her hair done.

I only say this because before this lockdown I had my hair cut and my hairdresser, who works out of a salon but is self employed, was telling me what a dreadful time they’ve all had because the government has offered so little help to people in this position. She was saying she was struggling with her mortgage and has had to take help from her parents because she wasn’t entitled to UC (due to having savings over the threshold which were, in reality, to pay her taxes at the end of the self assessment period this month). So I would be worried that maybe this hairdresser is desperate and doing a few jobs to literally put food on the table. Sounds like you know the two people in question pretty well though so only you can tell me if that might be the case or if I’m being too much of a bleeding heart liberal here.

DappledOliveGroves · 11/01/2021 16:25

No. I don't know the circumstances, many people who in theory should have received financial support from the government for being unable to work haven't, so for all anyone knows this woman has to work to put food on the table.

FecktheBoss · 11/01/2021 16:27

She'll just turn round and say she did it herself, boxdye etc.
